I have the feeling that the German medium armour is pretty poor (or at least unreliable) against allied infantry which is a big problem, since that is exactly what you need during the midgame. Compared to Shermans with he, Cromwells and T34s, they just don't bring satisfactory results. The TD on the otherhand overperform, Stugs are cheap and very potent with target weakpoint and the JP4 is outright ccheating when reaching vet 5... |
Penals allow even mediocre players to compete with better players. They are extremely durable, win head-to-head engagments even when not in cover, can win early 1v2 engagements, blow up OKW hqs without problems, etc. I would rather see maxim spam again, since maxims didnt destroy/steal team weapons, easily kill every OKW hq and at some point you lost them, but Penals remain too strong even into the late game. For 300mp I would take this unit every day, just replace them with Ost grens and no one would cry. The best solution would be to buff the maxim slightly so it is not a piece of crap but then nerf the penals. So sick of seeing them EVERY game and just rofl stomping everything. |
To be fair, OKW gets the limit only because they're the only faction with non-doctrinal heavy tank.
British Churchill doesn't really count, given what it is.
Personally I find it hard enough to get one of each vehicle at all; either you never get the fuel for both, or the game ends before you can use the second one called in.
Its true, but the KT is the only heavy hidden behind tech... something that many people in the forum always complained about. If you go for a KT, you wont have much else. And since the OKW T4 is not too hard to destroy in late game, OKW would stand there with pants down once T4 gets destroyed - good luck fighting Comets with Raketen and Volks... |
I've periodically played this game and the original for probably 6 years and the screw job the devs have done to allies is absolutely appalling. Any Ally unit that was even remotely effective has been nerfed and the Axis operates with a massive handicap. Their abilities are overpowered, their tanks are overpowered, and their infantry is overpowered. The game is borderline unplayable. The devs apparently catered to every scrub Axis player who couldn't wait 5 minutes before steam rolling with tanks, so we got completely nerfed. Good job, losers.
EVERY allied unit is basically uselessm such as Penals, T34s, Katyushas, Cromwells, Comets, Commandos, Calliopes, etc. Horrible indeed. In fact, tanks in CoH 2 are not as op as they used to be in CoH 1 where this indeed was a problem. CoH 2 gives allies the tools to handle heavy tanks, but you have to use them instead of crying on the forums... |
Every faction has super tanks. Kinda biased to say just limit them for OKW don't ya think?
Especially when you consider that the KT is the only heavy tank that actually is hidden behind tech unlike JT, Tiger, Croc, Pershing, IS and ISU... |
Because allies got nerfed with almost no reciprocation.
@ OP I think it would be good to implement this. Nothing worse than killing a kt or very rarely a JT then watching another one coming in literally right after the first explodes. They are the toughest, hardest hitting tanks in their classes so it should be punishing to lose one. Even though they are not exactly spammable, we all have those team games where they go over an hour and everyone (especially okw because of heavies) has a shit ton of fuel, especially with caches everywhere.
But why not limiting all heavies to only one? What about the IS2, ISU or the Pershing? I hope you do realize that 280 fuel is a lot of fuel (no caches and stuff) and usually means just having a single tank on the field. With Fireflies, T34 spam, general allied tank destroyers the allies definetly have the tools to get rid of a single tank. And the allied nerf was justified, I almost felt dirty after winning with Brits. Ofc there is also Axis cheese, but its different than allied cheese in the sense that you at least have a chance to avoid it unlike demos, arty cover, land mattress or Calliope wipes... |
Man, you make my "dedicated-to-play-Ostheer" way of playing CoH2 seems idiotic .
On the topic, according to Mr.Smith information, yeah, the Combat Blitz is just really, really absurd! It needs to be in-line, aka exactly the same, with Wehr's Bliztkrieg. In addition, I know Blitz on KT/Tiger seems stupid, but what else would you give them if Blitz got removed from these two (Yeah, KT can have Spearhead straight at vet 1, but what about Tiger? The same thing, maybe?)
Dont get me wrong, I love Ost. But its just frustrating when you are obviously better than your opponent but you lose because you cant compete against allied artillery. If allied blob cant win the game, just call in enough indirect fire.
About the blitz, yea I dont understand why the OKW blitz ability is so much better than the one from Ost... |
It's because:
- conscripts suck
In T2:
- Maxim suck
- Mortar worse than overnerf American M1 (In auto fire)
- Only ZiS does its job
What will happen if you combine a sucker unit? That's right - you lose.
You forgot to mention:
-Penals - Terminators that dominate early game and scale well into mid/late game, possess anti-tank, can blow up bunkers, hqs, caches, decrewed team weapons, garrisons, etc.
-Scout car aka free OKW raping (thanks for taking the Faust away, I can still try to use my Raketen haha)
-Sniper behind Penals = what do you want to do without spawning cancer infantry in nearby houses? |
Did I miss something? Did the last patch remove Soviet T2? Or why do you literally ever game see Penals into 120 mm into T34-85 spam? Only in a fraction of games you might see Dshka and Sherman spam, a totally interesting and fun meta... not. |
Well, tbh I didnt expect that result myself. But it's okay, we will take it
