My teamate was sitting back at base trying to build up his fancy Grand Armee of the Reich while I was naturally getting pummelled. I kepte telling him to flank and su forth but he just said "WAIT!". Finally he made a bee-line to the enemy's HQ sector.
TO his credit he made it all the way. Unfortunately it did absolute fuck all because he kept all of his Panthers eventually got criticalled, and since it was just Panthers and no support like troops in halftracks and such, all he did was scratch their buildings and draw MAYBE some of the enemy units back home.

The irony was that he could have totally crippled the enemy if he just flanked and did long-term damage like cutting off sectors and destroying artillery positions. Of all the opportunities to make a comeback, he decided that the obviously least helpful was the best approach.

The second worst was similar, teammate back and built up army, only in this case he marched his troops right into the middle. I'd say through the middle if he had timed it right and coordinated it with the rest of the team, but since he didn't, they all got smashed.

Well at least OP didn't do the well-overused "Penals are criminals they ought to have no weapons!" whine strategy. You have to give him/her credit for that.

I agree, just raising the fuel cost by 15 is already a balance. Also raising the CP just means the player has less incentive to expend fuel for the unit since by that time, there are non-infantry threats. The design of Greyhound should, IMO, be about being able to call it in and wreak havoc, but you are forced to choose between Greyhound and things like teching up, unlocking BAR, ambulance, etc.

I'd rather fuel cost be raised further but keep CP at 3. Any doctrinal unlock that is anti-infantry, needs to compete with other anti-infantry strategies.

Personally I think USF's weapon rack idea should have been designed similarly to UKF's: there would be some field options for your troops to upgrade there instead of running back to base.

On the other hand, the design for squads and upgrades for USF also meant that any such advantages makes them far more powerful as a mobility faction; UKF racks make sense because you want your Tommies to stay where they are, and faction design reflects this. Riflemen being able to do the same, and wreak havoc as they advance the front, means they're overpowered.

The logic of having to run back to base for more firepower then makes sense.

The racks idea is moot once you have specialist units like Rangers because they have better and unique upgrades, anyways.

I really hope they turn AoE4 into what is effectively CoH3.
