Hefty price, but I think it's better than waiting forever to reinforce like Sturmpioniers. It also encourages players to not waste them in a front-up fight, but rather keep them back. They already cost 290MP and at High Resource start, you can immediately deploy them. I think it's a fair compromise, considering they aren't super durable. They can keep a squad or two at a distance, but it's not like they can suppress or use grenades.
I actually find them a bit odd to be able to salvage wrecks. Grenades would be more realistic. |
I actually thought of that when I first noticed the OKW factions' base emplacements were 2cm flaks, although I think I recall the enemy still getting supply drops even though we had the emplacements.
I can't think of any good solutions though, besides changing the base emplacements from flak to something else like a slit trench with an MG34. IMO, the 2cm can turn 360 degrees AND post a threat to armour, so that's a huge advantage for a faction that doesn't even have to rely on HQ territory for its trucks to set up. |

They are excellent supporting infantry, doing everything except brute fighting. That's more the Sturmpioniers' job, IMO.
They still get a weapon slot after the Panzerscreck upgrade, so you can either double up their AT or pick up an LMG to get some mixed firepower. Unless it's an LMG I usually don't use my Sturmpioniers to pick up weapons.
They are also great for re-crewing weapons and vehicles due to their higher squad size, plus they reinforce much faster and cheaper than Sturmpioniers. They can also salvage wrecks so your expensive Sturms don't have to risk themselves to do the job.
They also vet really quick despite not really packing a lot of punch. Veterancy is dependent on damage inflicted, not just kills, so punching a hole in that tank gives them XP even if they don't scare that tank away.
They're not great in directly engaging enemies by themselves, but they're great force multiplier even if they don't necessarily make the enemy troops drop dead faster. |
I agree with the first posts: Fighting Position is actually very low-health to be worth the investment. I expected them to be very sturdy in weathering anything besides tank shots. I don't mind troops still being relatively vulnerable to fire, but they seem far less durable than Ostheer bunkers, which at least restricts even the garrisoned units' arc of fire.
If they're to be tweaked, I recommend they are more durable to things tank shots and mortar fire. Ostheer bunkers have wider arc but quite vulnerable to repeated mortar or tank shots; the biggest problem with Fighting Positions should be that the troops inside are more vulnerable to fire than their Ostheer equivalent.
Rear Echelons actually only use one guy for the rifle grenade ability, so the description is as misleading as Relic's "War Spoils is frequent" seller. |
Scavenger and Elite Armoured doctrines, both OKW.
But only after like a week of hardcore grinding. |
So when the timer resets, that essentially means you have to grind, er ahem, I mean play happily, for around 3+ hours to then get a chance to be rewarded with a totally random item? Dunno about 3 hours, but yes, once you get a crate, any crate, the timer resets to whatever time threshold. I think it's not as simple as "x hours unlocks crate" though, I think it's more along the lines of having a chance to drop once you reach a minimum.
If only Relic would briefly explain why we keep getting duplicate strikes/skins/commanders...
To build hype. They know we're not desperate enough to buy commanders, so once they do that in a month or two, cha-ching for everyone that still hasn't got it through grind.

I must agree, Germans don't have much in the way of demolitions. Even if the cost was the same, 125 munitions, that is considerably expensive so not exactly a high priority. |
Are you sure that isn't a partisan? Afaik Germany never allowed women in combat, not even during the bitter end.
That's a character from the movie Der Untergang.
The Volkssturm would just be the OKW equivalent to Osttruppen, and we already have lots of combat infantry units for OKW. A "Volkssturm" commander would probably not even live up to the name, just like many of the "Blitzkrieg" commanders. |
Does anyone know exactly how the time reset system works for the spoils? Thanks.
According to what Relic has said, the timer resets once you get a crate. |
