Hey guys, since yesterday my friend and I are experiencing a weird (bug), where the screen goes black for a very short time and the game tabs you out. This is completely random and we both experienced it all of a sudden. Anybody else here who had something similiar? |
Thanks for the constructive (and sometimes not so constructive) feedback. The point is (at least in 2v2s) that Katyusha spam is the method of choice and I am talking about top100-top50 teams relying on that. I understand that Katy is effective on close range, because of risk-reward, but even on long range it is more than just formidable.
The problems I see are the following: as Soviet you always go T4 anyways (unless you spam M4Cs ofc), so you dont have to "detour" like with Ost or OKW, or to go for a certain doc like with Brits and USF. Furthermore, you can effectively use long range barrages (especially in comparison with the Pwerfer), since every rocket has the potential to wipe/do massive dmg. So often you can kill retreating units or units you didnt even know that were there with the scatter. Plus, they are super effective to easily get rid of any OKW truck from a safe distance, especially when paired with 120mm. Thats what you see every game in 2v2s. Penals, 120mm, Katyushas and T34/SU86 accordingly. |

Hey guys, lately I have the feeling that thing is overperforming for some reason. I dont know if something changed, but suddenly they seem to wipe everything. I lost against mediocre players just because those things wipe so often, it feels a bit like a budget Calliope. Even when Soviet is pratically dead, Katyushas can completely turn the tide... for only 85 fuel! |
Why not just lock every single call-in vehicle behind tech? So that you can call in the vehicle only if you
1.) got enough CP and
2.) built the associated tech building
(but the vehicle will still remain an off-map call-in)

Stormtroopers are in pretty decent doctrines though. In fact, I find the stormtroopers themselves to be the least appealing part of most of their doctrines except for the infiltration cheese value in situations like this. Can they actually finish off snipers on retreat realistically though? Because they come with Kar98s right?
Well, the Kessel doctrine is mostly a Troll doctrine, but Elite Armour is still pretty good because of the stun grenades. Well, snipers are pretty fragile, so if you spawn them behind enemy lines you should be able to kill snipers. However, if your enemy reacts fast and retreats instantly, I am not so sure how the chances are. Those units are also not very cheap, for example trading a 440mp Falli squad for a 360mp sniper squad is not the optimal solution... |
Well, you could go for Stormtroopers and spawn them in a nearby house (same goes for OKW's Fallis or Jägers), but then again - this locks you into a doctrine, but having elite armour in your load-out might help you on certain maps. |
So then it will be conscripts (now the penals of current patch) into maxims (now a subpar dhsk of the current patch) into m4c spam lol. I understand what you are trying to accomplish by these changes, but unfortunately it won't change anything...

But if you have Cons and (useful) Maxims you wont need Dshkas anymore, so probably we would see the good old guard-motor commander picked every game again, for elite infantry and cheap t34-85 spam. If thats better than the current meta, I dont know. How to fix this? Well, I guess whoever figures out how to deal with call-ins deserves a medal... |
then you will get the same situation as you have now. Only in your solution we will have conscripts into dhsk into m4c lol. The entire faction needs a redesign badly.
Not necessarily, because you could have mainline infantry (cons) which are worth their money plus team weapons (given that the Maxim gets a slight boost) instead of having to choose between competitive infantry (penals) or team weapons (subsituted by the Dshka). |
Yup. That's why I don't even play soviets anymore; most of their early-mid game isn't even viable anymore.
IMO cons should be decent mainline inf (and make the Molotov animation faster), maybe give them svts as an upgrade, and make penals basically ostruppen ("you need screening troops?") with mosins. Their vet1 ability also makes sense in that scenario.
Well, I dont think that Soviets are weak, because Penals are very strong and while the T70 is pretty garbage right now, an early T34 can be quite annoying, let alone spamming Katyushas. The problem is that Soviets are pretty predictable since it is always Penals plus maybe Dshkas or 120mms (or both). Cons definetly should get a boost, they are supposed to be the mainline infantry but right now they are there simply for the snare (even though Penals can do the same now, even though less effective). |
