If CP4 becomes 110 fuel with no CP requirement and the weaker aura, the Command Panzer 4 would be a tempting offer over the Ostwind. Currently it's often not an option at all because it comes so late at 9 CP, when there are already multiple tanks on the field. The 7 CP in the preview also seems too late if you want it as first tank.
Versus Ostwind you would trade some AI for much better scaling, considering you get:
- Much better armor. Ostwind has 110 armor, while CP4 has 180/234 armor.
- Better AT than the Ostwind, especially on the move. E.g. CP4 can duel a Valentine, Ostwind can't.
- Damage reduction (Good to protect infantry against indirect and to save vehicles)
- Better AI than a P4 without pintle, comparable AI to a P4 with pintle (depends on situation).
I've always found its AI performance utterly lackluster, but I freely admit I've never done a stat comparison on it.
If it really is as serviceable as you suggest, then I think you're probably right on dropping the CP requirement being enough.
That's 1 point I agree with, the 1919 should be 2 CP instead of 3 CP, so they have similar timing as the LMG42. Their performance/cost is fine however. Yes, 1919 Rifles beat LMG42 Grens at all ranges.
That'd be a pretty hefty buff.
Then again, it's not like Infantry Company/Tactical Support Company are especially competitive, and RET strats got blown out of the water by the Assgren buffs.
I repeat, the Riflemans + m1919 hardly save one model in a shootout with grenadiers + mg34. Is this a balance?
That's because slot weapons do a shitload more damage than basic rifles. That battle is less Rifles vs Grens and more M1919 vs LMG42. A similar thing happens if you put LMG RETs against LMG Grens: the Grens usually win but not by much.
I think it can be tied to tech and CP if it's a good enough unit.
The current Command Tank is: it has awful combat stats, but that's because its value is in its excellent aura.
If it gets the aura nerf though, I think it's dead: 0.9 is by no means bad but it's not enough to make up for the damage output you sacrifice to get it.
I can see why the aura looks too strong on paper: it adds a full two extra 160 dmg hits to kill to a Panther. But you've got to remember that the Command Tank is replacing another medium vehicle which would be contributing damage of its own.
What's more powerfu;: a Command Tank and a Panther, or a Panzer IV and a Panther? For the Command Tank to be worthwhile, it's got to be the better option in at least a few cases.
So basically, focus fire set to false seems to allow squads to re-roll misses into hits... just not on the squad it's targeting but on other squads.
Basically it seems like:
- focus fire = True means that misses can not hit other squads;
- focus fire = False means that misses can hit other squads, allowing the squad to deal some additional DPS to other squads nearby.
It doesn't seem to affect DPS versus the targeted squad, but it's hard to tell.
If that's how it works, maybe it should be set to false on everything that has it.
It's an incredibly intuitive way to discourage blobbing: if you build a human wall that bullet is going to hit something.
I think it is time to give this unit a add second look and make it interesting. Maybe some support abilities that don't promote blobbing. I would like it to be added to other docs too.
Its only problem is being in the same doctrine as the WC51.
Move it to Rifle Company or something and it'll be much happier.
Rifle company neeeds more stuff
Mod team pls.. do soomething
as i said before some kind of weaopon upgrade will be much better and more intresting than simple sandbags for rifles
If you count turning an unsuable ability into a good one, they also gained Sprint.
In some ways, but by its current sign, it promotes too much aggressiveness and being up close.
Since the damage output is not that good in medium or long range. Only short distance does it go through the roof. Thus, it is designed heavily in this game as an aggressive designed unit.
So, I does not really work as much as by its actual design.
I does not play much supportive or recon much, it is too much in favour of aggression.
