I think the best way to balance the panther is by changing blitz.
Blitz gives increased moving accuracy on top of the other existing bonuses. But, once the bonus is up, the tank suffers a movement penalty for ten or 15 seconds.
The idea is to make the panther strong chasing TDs and other tanks, but you must choose your moments wisely. Also, your opponent has a reason to build medium tanks again instead of spamming tds.
Try this. Play around with the numbers if you like.
We need to adjust something on this unit to make it more rewarding vs tds, but make it less frustrating for medium tanks. As of now, you see a panther you spam tds. |
Changing these units hp to 900 would help. These 2 units have been meta in high level teamgames for over 4 years now. Kinda boring choosing between these commanders everygame.
But the logic is: do I choose one of these commanders or risk losing the game because the other guy has a low skill super unit. |

Slow? No line of sight while moving. It allows players to attack move instead of intensely micromanaging them. Of course, they will receive some buffs to compensate. |
Snipers keep mg and mortar spammers in check. It makes players think before opening the game with just mgs in teamgames. But the best change would be to nerf their moving los, lower their cost a little, and reduce pop by 1 or 2. Attack moving snipers makes them frustrating. |
Objective should be to stop listening to crying wheraboo mains who only build mgs, mortars, and a small amount of grens everygame.
That being said, I think giving grens sandbags and giving pios trenches would help ostheer. Ostheer needs help keeping map control and their mgs alive in 1v1. It's too bad allies spam infantry into light vehicles every match, and Mgs have a harder time capping territory than infantry. |
All you have to do is lower the rof of the jakson but increase pen. Then add the choice of teching to an easy8 or priest (kinda like anvil and hammer). Easy 8 will get more pen to become more of a tank hunter. This would fix up a lot of flaws and op strengths. |
My problem with it is it's to expensive and the rof is too slow to be used as a flanking tank, its pen and range is too low to fight panthers head on, and its ai is terrible.
Most axis armor have blitz to keep it from
chasing. I've never seen this tank being used, that is the stat that matters most.
Good players are not going to start using them because you think it is good. |
It would be better off if usf could get a caliope, then adjust the troublesome airstrikes. But I doubt that is going to happen. Knowing the stupidity of some of the members in the balance team, cluster bombs will receive a nerf without concern for overall balance. |

Skip to 3/4 of the video for testing air strikes against infantry.
That is the wrong way to use frags or ptabs. Most players will face the strikes so the enemy can't reverse key out of it. You are better off doing a 90 degree turn than hitting the 'u' key in a real game.
As for the usf strikes, they are designed to fill the role of rocket artillery, Recon support does not have caliope priests, or pershing.
