I remember having this error when one of the bridges on my motherboard was dying. It happened with anything that put load on the graphics. We had to replace the motherboard to fix it. |
rank 9 oh is gentlefox. dont lie
If I were 9th on the Ostheer Leaderboard I would not be asking the forums how to fight mortars and nor would moving from 9 to 7 be a drop. I'm referring to the rank from 1 to 20 it gives you based on overall leaderboard position. |
Previously I've typically opened with MG Gren Gren MG (picking up a third Gren squad after getting T2's early units). What's the advantage of a single MG and three Grens instead? (This is typically 1v1) |
Thanks. |
It's reached the point where if I get paired against a USF as Ostheer on a small map I might as well give up at the start. The two main tools I used to use to fight USF, the MG42 and the Sniper, are countered hard. The MG42 gets shelled and the edge the sniper gives the Grenadiers by sniping riflemen is negated by the health damage they take from mortar. Even my mainline infantry seem to be countered by it: Grenadiers like to fight in green cover at long range and the mortar punishes units being static heavily. If the mortar is kept behind the riflemen then I can't flank it either as all my able combat troops are long range until T2's Panzergrenadiers. All of this leads to the Riflemen being able to push me off my key points, especially on small maps.
This snowballs into the mid game: without the ability to defend my side of the map everything collapses: if I can't win on the defence I certainly can't win on the attack. While I usually pull back slightly when Panzergrenadiers hit the field that advantage is lost as soon as the riflemen get their BARs. The mortar essentially prevents me from playing defensively, forcing me to play a mobility game that the USF will win. This puts be so far back that by the time I get my first tank the USF have a superior armoured force. Unless the USF makes some crippling mistakes (blobbing into S-mines) I simply can't win the matchup.
This happens repeatedly: I've dropped from Rank 9 to Rank 7 since the new patch.
I've concluded that I simply don't know how to deal with it.
Therefore my question is this: what works as Ostheer against the current USF, especially if they deploy their mortar? I'm after doctrines, tactics, build orders and army compositions. |
https://www.coh2.org/topic/53022/whats-the-best-opening-build-for-ukf-please-help
In the vein of this thread, what are good general build order frameworks for the Ostheer? I tried the UKF one from this thread which went all the way up to Cromwells and it proved very successful. My Ostheer play is very hit and miss and I think I'd benefit from a tried and tested build order to deviate from as needed rather than freewheeling the entire game. |
Tried out some of the advice from this thread and wow. Going three Royal Engineers rather than one (admittedly mostly packing Mobile Assault flamethrowers) is far stronger than I'd ever have thought. Incredible capping power, lets the HMG and IS do what they do best (defend) and once the tanks roll out they have a lot of presence.
Thanks people!
Slightly off topic, but is it a good idea with Wehrmacht Pioneers too? |
Shall do. |
The Stuart I can usually deal with, the mortar usually poses much more of problem by shutting down machine guns and bleeding my manpower which means I can't stop them from blobbing. Their infantry superiority means I usually can't flank and kill it effectively. |
Long time lurker, first time poster with a question about fighting the USF as OKW.
To give an indication of skill level I'm usually ranked around Level 7 or 8 with UKF, SOV, OST and USF 1v1, so not amazing but not beyond terrible either. Before the 21st June patch I didn't play OKW automatch because I didn't find massed Volks fun to play and they struggled doing anything else.
Since the patch I've been playing OKW a lot trying to get it up with the rest of the factions but I keep running into a wall. Against UKF and SOV I can usually hold midgame with T2, MG34s and good use of cover long enough for me to get to late game armour and push back. Against USF however I struggle immensely. I do okay at the start by beating riflemen with superior positioning but mid-game I rapidly end up forced onto the defensive and losing the resource war, something OKW can't really afford to do given the price of their armour. I'm doing something wrong but I'm not sure what.
So my question is this: what approach in terms of commander, build and tactics do you take against the USF as OKW?
