The veterancy bonuses for RW only help its cloak making garrison less desirable as the unit vets... It should have a range of 60 when garrison, be less easy to circle strafe and give the ability to fire all around when in trench/bunker The performance of the unit is also totally inconstant, it sucks until vet 3 and then it become one of the deadliest atgs (and still very fragile). Removing utility from upgraded unit will make weapon upgrades a trade off, one lose something to gain something else so it improves game design. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Solutions to LMG blobs. 24 Apr 2016, 14:10 PM LMG blob are problematic and in most cases the weapon upgrade is no brainier. 1) A moving LMG blobs This problem can be fixed by making an LMG squad less effective when moving constantly. This can be achieved by either making the LMG weapon have a long set up time or by increasing its DPS the longer the unit stay immobile. 2) Buying weapon for all squads. This problem can be fixed by reducing the utility of units that have bought weapon upgrades. Thing like AT snare, grenades, smoke grenades, rifle grenades, minesweeper, healing, off map artillery and others can be mutually exclusive with some weapon upgrades. In: COH2 Balance

Remember the SU-85 lost its ROF boost at vet 2 and takes longer to fire stock. Why should it be so different? Its only advantage at that point would be penetration which would be very prone to RNG if it only had average accuracy and self-spotting. Furthermore, if the SU-85 even rotates it still takes that large 50% accuracy penalty. Axis tanks are generally bigger size, and SU-85 has more range a simply accuracy comparison is misleading... Stug and Panther has a range of 50, so at range the same ranges su-85 accuracy difference is less, JP does not have that high penetration and is counter to medium tanks plus it is more expensive. Jackons has to be on the move and can not spot for itself. A combination of 100% hit chance at range 60, with a very high penetration rate and the ability to spot for it self would and a cheap price will simply completely shut down axis heavy tanks... Thread: Miragefla's December Balance Mod Additions24 Apr 2016, 08:02 AM SU-85 Changed the SU-85 to match the improvement of other tank destroyer since WFA release. ... -Accuracy from 0.05/0.0375/0.25 to 0.055/0.045/0.04 Turning Su-85 to a counter of heavy tank should take into account the size of heavy tanks. Since most of them have a size of 25 or more 0.04 far accuracy guarantees hit 100%....the accuracy buff is simply way too much...Probably is not needed at all or should be a small one... I think both Conscripts and Penals did that during the WW2, only difference is that the Penals were convicted criminals. Of course their superiors gave Penal Battalions less attractive jobs to do... It is worth noting here that allot of the people who served in Soviet Penal battalion where not actually "convicted criminals" (like the German ones). Allot of them where officer and soldiers that committed "military crimes" or civilian exiled for their political beliefs. "Military crimes" was a rather vague definition and could include retreat in the face of annihilation... Allot of them where completely innocent...The treatment these troops received was unjustified in most cases... In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Penal Battalion a completely different approach30 Mar 2016, 07:15 AM First of all I would like to thank everyone for reading this thread and taking the time to participate on the debate. Since there currently 2 threads running about Penals I would appreciate if general suggestions about Penal where posted on the other thread and this on is kept on debating the proposed idea. The basics of the idea is that Penals instead of being an "elite" infantry they become a cheap infantry. In addition some of the utility of Conscripts is moved to Penals. Charging (ourah) HMG to throw a molotov or a tank to throw an AT grenade would be thematically more appropriate for a cannon fodder unit going with the name "Penal battalion". Fighting from cover cautiously would be more appropriate for a mainline infantry called "conscripts" On the name: If the idea is not implemented and the current "penal battalions" remain as an "elite" squad (better than mainline conscripts) I would suggest remaining the unit to something like "Regulars" indicating better trained troops in contrast with "conscripts" which indicates less trained troops.
