Wow. Light gammon bomb is still the same overperforming crutch, but people are arguing whether or not usf nade is OP... |
Tommies were just fine with their in-cover shtick, after some initial shock and l2p issues people learned to live with that. I have no idea why Relic saw fit to change them, or why they thought removing some of their in-cover damage compensated for buffing their out-of-cover damage. You remove their one strong feature, cover play, while they are still largely useless out of cover? You nerf them in their 80%-of-the-time used mode, but buff slightly their 20%-got-caught-out-of-position mode (and they STILL can't go 1v1 versus any enemy infantry, let alone cost for cost)? So now they will take 50% of Grenadier squad health instead of 40% in an ideal out of cover shootout before being forced to retreat? What does it fix, exactly?
You're wrong about the buff/nerf values. They nerfed DPS in cover by 15% in cover (5 to 6 shots to kill) and by something like 12% out of cover because the penalty almost doesn't affect their DPS. In addition to the survivability nerf and vet nerf this makes them barely cost-effective in cover and almost useless out of cover (barely win vs stock grens). |
Sexton maybe needs some loving, but 17 pounder and AEC are both fine.
The AEC would be ok if it was a bit cheaper in manpower and the vet ability worked at least half the time. Right now it is exclusively a command vehicle platform.
17pounder HP doesn't reflect its cost and popcap, it gets killed too easily. |
1) infantry sections can equip dual weapons and can tech nades too + can build sandbags for green cover, can upgrade to 5th man, in my oppinion thats utility too
2) lost last 2 games 2v2 AT games due mortar pits, they can be very, very good, and have a huuuge range especially with vet
i would disagree with brits beeing the handicapped version of ostheer, likely its the other way around.
but i can understand your points too
Well IS bren is not cost-effective because of the cover penalty and for the same reason they are terrible piat carriers. Nades are generally not worth it to tech, and 5th man is a combat efficiency upgrade. Sandbags/trenches are good but they don't really stand up to faust + riflenade.
Mortar pit can be very good, but it serves a different role from actual mortars. Mortar pit is a very good defensive tool, but it can never be offensive. That's a major problem, brits can dislodge entrenched positions only with brute force, and that is not always possible, even more so now with weaker infantry and croc.
Btw sturmpios are also engineers, they are weaker than rifles for the same reason pioneers are weaker than osttruppen. |
i waited for that moment a long time:
brits got good support weapons, they are isupposed to use combined arms like ostheer :'D
1) grens have utility in the form of faust and rifle nade as opposed to infantry sections
2) they don't have a mobile mortar, and that breaks the whole combined arms calculation.
Basically brits are a handicapped vesion of ostheer with some leftover gimmicks (commandos, officer, special weapons doctrine, firefly) left to rely upon. I can understand why you say that though. |
Its funny how Brits have been considered "useless" since launch patches by the same faces. Meanwhile, people learn to play and abuse what they can, and win.
Of course you can still abuse the vanguard officer/350mp commandos. The nerf isn't even that significant, the players can adapt. But the number of viable strats is lowered (emplacement nerfs, anvil nerfs, now IS nerf) so brits can become the new soviets, having only a few viable way to play. |
Lol rip Anvil, pointless nerfs for zero reason
Well considering it has that awesome arty barrage as well as the Churchill and heavy engineer upgrade which is god luck when used right the arty barrage isn't awesome, it just makes the arty flares do something. anvil was on par with hammer before the patch, now it is just bad.
70 muni to make your engineers slow as fuck
2 armor making them the same as shocks and kick ass LMGs...while still having 2 weapon slots wiped due to nades and explosions constantly. the nerf made sapper spam useless which is ok, but the upgrade overall is not worth it anymore.
IS nerfs so now brits have zero effective infantry (280mp tommies getting eaten by Ostruppen and volks)
Well IS got a damage per shot reduction but a ROF increase, also imo they outperform volks and grens easily.. the ROF increase is very little due to winddown being a primary component of infantry section time between shots. they lose to volks and lmg grens now.
Churchill now costs pretty much the same as a tiger
640 Manpower, 230 fuel for a tiger, Churchill 540/180, 50 fuel difference 60 manpower, so I wouldn't call them the same, also consider you can have more then 1 Churchill on the field at once, it now has a comet-like cost, and i'd rather have a comet than a churchill, especially with avil nerfs
6 pounder the same price as a pak but with worse vet
6 pounder has better ROF I believe and has increased accuracy against vehicles, don't forgot the Zis has the same price so your point? 6pounder is a direct clone of pak40 (same rof, same accuracy) without the stun shot.
Base howitzers still a joke
Against OKW and turtled opponents not really. sure, try crawling up to a schwerer hq penal-style and see that the arty does 1/3 of satchel damage
Brits still have no AT snare '
AT squad, and this is faction designed for early game. it'd be cool if ostheer had to pick the same doctrine over and over again just to hold its own against light vehicles
Boys AT rifle nerf
Brought inline with PTRS agree
No buff to the PIAT
Not needed agree
IS still drop brens like pinatas
Same percentage as every other weapon in game, just more weapons on a squad higher chance to drop. when IS reach vet 3 they get 2 scoped rifles and that causes them to drop weapons at an alarming rate.
Commandos still cost 500mp
350 actually he's talking about the commando doctrine, and 350 mp is fine because of the initial glider cost of 540 mp
Emplacements still suck
Actually still pretty beastly, just need to position them right agree except on 17pounder. that just has too little hp.
Brits still have no indirect fire or building clearanc
Mortar pit, Bofors indirect fire ability, wasp, croc having to build a bofors/mortar pit near every building on the map (since wasp dies to 2 incendiary round bursts/2 fausts) is not exactly balanced
|
Quite a promising patch, fixes a lot of issues with OKW and some others too. However I have a problem with it:
The infantry section nerf is probably heavier than relic realizes (vet nerf is fine though), since they have next to no cooldown (most of the time between shots is winddown). This means that decreasing the out-of-cover penalty barely does anything (0.2 DPS at close range), while the other nerfs are massive. Playtesting IS (4 man) vs Grens:
-IS is slightly better than grens out of cover
-IS is better when both in cover
-IS is worse than lmg grens out of cover
-IS is slightly worse than lmg grens when both in cover
The biggest offender is lmg grens actually winning when both are in cover. This makes infantry sections obsolete without 5 man upgrade or brens since they don't have the utility of grens or the fighting power of riflemen. The changes need to be reverted except vet nerf. |
-Rifle Company.
-Riflemen vet buff is too much, they should've reduced bar's cost instead.
-OKW is broken (tried to play them once, felt like shit).
-Lots of non-sensical things about brits: fast vet for infantry, fast but bad vet for tanks, extremely weak IS cover bonus, lack of garrison-clearing options, the 0.25 officer, some underpriced or overpriced things.
-Forgotten eastern front abilities/units (penals, assault grens, IL-2) |
I have tried to stream my games lately, and in this stream you can see in 44:30 (39:35) where my 2 Panthers can't do anything to the blob, and then when I try to pull them back, the blob destroys one of my Panthers which turns to an another direction when I try to drive them backwards. But the point is, that I they could not stop or even suppress the blob right in the beginning before I desided to pull them back. This has happened several times during this patch, and I think it is totally unrealistic that a blob of riflemen with bazookas could do that in that way.
You should remember that Ostheer panthers are quite bad at anti-infantry, people consider them tank destroyers. It's no wonder that riflemen equipped with handheld AT counter tank destroyers, and realism has nothing to do with it. |
