No but I appreciate you making a broad assumption trying to completely discredit my argument. I play Sovs, and I have easily dealt with the strafing run. I spread my units when attacking, just like I do with the Ostheer. If the strafing run does come, it WILL pin some units but other will get close enough to make it a fight. Throw in some of the Sovs abilities from the numerous awesome commanders and you have a game. It isn't game breaking, nor is it OP. Just because you had a few games where you played poorly and didn't properly deal with it doesn't make something OP. This goes for ostheer players as well. I use to btch and whine until I realized that things are balanced fairly well so far. There are definite counters to a lot of so-called "OP" units.
Munitions is something very rare to Ostheer, its hard to stack munitions when your trying to get shreks, use fausts for the t34s and t70s, upgrade to LMG42s, use bundled nades, rifle grenades, upgrade tanks, etc.. etc... OP.. No sir... Could it use a time decrease, ill agree...

The OP thing about this doctrine I notice in 1v1 ain't the Opel Blitz trucks but that strafe ability. 120 munitions for something that gives you full map control for 45 seconds? Wow. The ability is active for 30secs but it always seem to go for 1-3 strafes after it has finished. o.O
You're right. It has the Opel Blitz trucks that increase fuel/muni income. Then you have that bullshit strafing run as you say, then to top it all off they can call in a Tiger. Just absolute retardedness (I know that's not a word) but seriously WTF are Sega doing with this game.
I am neither a Sovite or German fan, I play both factions, but Germans with Opel Blitz Commander are fucking retardly (again not a word) good. It's just too easy to win as Germans, you just had to hold your one fuel and build some P4's that beat everything except SU85's and you will win. Thrown in some PGrens to roll over Zis AT Guns and Russian infantry and you're sweet.
What the fuck is the go with Shock Troops costing 480mp. PGrens stand up to them and they cost 360mp and get upgrade to Shreks. This latest patch is the most retarded of them all so far, they don't seem to be getting anything right balance wise due to the balance actually being a lot worse now then it was when it started. |
This has to be the biggest load of rubbish so far in COH2. This Commander is that fucking OP you can outplay your opponent all game, control all the fuel for the majority of the game but yet he can still match you for teching because of the stupid fucking trucks. They can have a P4 out by the time your first T34 arrives, simply by using the trucks.
Why would anyone want to go any other Commander right now?

This has got to be the biggest load of bullshit in COH2 at the moment. It comes way too early, has way too much health and the flame thrower on it kills entire squads in a matter of seconds. If it gets Vet it is very very good.
Guards can not counter it as their AT Rifles do fuck all damage and they get melted. They have made T34 95 fuel so that comes a few minutes later now. Mines are too expensive to try and lure it over. Basically I have to try and counter it with AT Grenades or I have no option but to build a Support Building to get a ZIS AT Gun. So I end up getting out teched easily because Germans with the use of the Flamer Half track control all the fuel.
Anyone mind telling me how to counter it? Without having to build the support building or start with the support building instead of a Rifle Company? |
Hey, I've been playing alot of 1v1s lately and this is my main 5 gripes with balance in coh2 specifically with 1v1s. As a result of these balance issues I have to put the matchup in favor of Soviets instead of Ostheer. When Soviets goes 1 particular strategy and executes it well it is almost impossible to stop as Ostheer. Here is my list:
- Pak 40 Sucks!!!
T34s laughs at the pak 40, in fact T34s counters the pak 40. Once the T34 gets behind the pak 40 it is over. Add to that the fact that the pak 40 takes 4 shots to kill the T34, costs more than the T34 (manpower wise) and has an accuracy of 50%. This is the only legitimate counter that Ostheer has to armour and it sucks really bad. Panzershrecks get crushed by tanks, German armour gets rammed... Either buff its range, damage and accuracy or give it a cloak shot.
- T34 spam is OP!!!
They come out way too fast, and dirt cheap if you have the fuel. They have some crazy effectiveness vs infantry, they can easily snipe 2 guys at once and can crush the rest with its high accelleration. Their gun is kinda meh against tanks. But it don't matter since they have this 'I win' button with ram against any kind of tanks. There's not many counters for Ostheer against multiple T34s.
- Conscript spam is OP
Conscripts are too cost effective and vet up too quickly when combined with hit the dirt and ppshs. Everytime I get behind as ostheer it is almost impossible to come back on the map because a few conscripts can hit the dirt at your cutoff severely delaying you. It also costs alot of munitions to get them to leave, and once they left another conscript squad hits the dirt and takes it place. And conscripts have really low upkeep and are dirt cheap to rebuild if you happen to lose them.
- Maxims are unflankable
I love how I shoot 1 rifle grenade off or bundle grenade and it only kills one guy. This mg is stupidly good and can quickly turn to face any direction, even a gren squad shooting it from behind can take a full minute to decrew it. Either nerf the 6 man crew or nerf it's packup and set up time.
- Mines, need better mines...
There's not much a german player can do even if they're clearly better against T34 spam. Normally mines would be the answer but mines are so ridiculously expensive and there are no effective mines for infantry. The S mine field requires so much time to set up and if the opponent allows you to set one up in a forward position you've won anyways. Give some normal vcoh mines for ostheer!
Note: I do not find clown cars that OP, sure they're good but they're the equivilent of the german flammenwerfer halftrack and they can be easily countered by a faust or two (provided they actually hit and do damage - Relic plz fix this).

Pak's need to be supported by Shrek Grens or Grens with faust, of course a lone Pak is going to get raped.
T34 spam is not a problem if you know how to counter it. IE - Shrek Grens and Pak's(combined) and then get a StuG IV.
Don't whine about conscript spam when Germans have T2 Knights Cross Holders (PGrens), you can rush them out so fast and Conscripts are fucking useless after that and you have to get Shock Troops to counter them or snipers. And what about rushing a T2 Flamer Halftrack and laughing when all conscripts run away?

The thing I think is most important right now, is the UI of course, the feedback you get from the game ("visibility"), and the teching choices (or lack thereof).

That's the same as CoH1, you always end up teching to vehicles. That's really not a problem in CoH2. The balance of the vehicles are maybe, but the general aim of the game is to tech up to tanks and roll over your opponent with a coordinated attack.
I mean what else are you going to tech up to? There is no bought veterancy anymore, which was a crock of shit anyway, so thats a good thing, the game is WW2, the strongest vehicles on the Battlefield were tanks, it's only fitting that the end game should be tank focused. |
I take it you are talking 4v4 or 3v3? If so, balance is never going to be good in those games modes, it's just spam spam spam to win and that's it. Just accept that it will never get any better because it wont. |

While the Min0 is strange I never saw the yellow counter below 40. I don't think that my PC is too slow I suspect something connection wise. I never have problems in multiplayer with other games, thats why I suspect the P2P nature of this game.

i am posting this because I have massive problem playing the game. Prepatch it seemed to go fine. But in the last days I have constant kicks and another guy I am playing in the team with says I am lagging constantly.
I have:
An OCed E84000 CPU @3.8Ghz
A Nvidia GTX 570 GPU
8 Gigs of RAM
Not the fastest rig around but way faster as required. I also set video settings ingame to low until I resolve this.
My internet connection is standard broadband with ~8mbit, stable in other multiplayer games. I somehow suspect the Peer To Peer nature of this game to be the problem.
I made exceptions to firewall and antivirus for the game EXE. I also forwarded ports:
6112
9100
30260
in my router settings because I read somewhere in sega forums that these are used by the game.
What else can I do? And does anybody else have major problems like this?
Dude, you need to do a Frames Per Second (FPS) check to confirm if it's your rig or your connection. Download FRAPS or some other program that will give you a display of FPS whilst gaming so you can rule it out being a problem with your Rig. Your CPU is fucken old as the hills and may be bottlenecking the fuck out of your GTX 570. Do that test and get back to me. |
