Some of us don't have a choice. At my home, I have a choice of Comcast or Comcast. It's craptastic. It isn't likely to change as Comcast regularly gives "dollars of free speech" to our elected officials so that there is very little chance of anything changing. I get to pay about $75/month for a connection that drops me from games completely roughly 5-10% of the time.
The game servers do have a reconnect feature that does work. I get probably 2-3 times as many reconnects as I do drops. The problem is that everything keeps playing while I'm waiting to reconnect so I often lose units while it reconnects.
If I had a wish list for COH3, it would be that the servers were more fault-tolerant. This is the only online game I have that has this level of disconnects. SC2, WC3, GW2 all disconnect much less often.
Then why don't you go with wireless LTE or WiMax connection? It adds a little lag, but it is nothing compared to relic server ping. Most importantly it is much cheaper than whooping 75$ and is super stable - as stable as your phone. If you just need connection for gaming, so you don't need good speed, you can also try ADSL. |
Does volley fire with other RE's stack? and is it more effective the closer you are to the target?
It doesn't stack like modifiers - multiplicatively, there is no reason for it not to stack additively, like all the other suppresion sources, though. |
riegel is in rarely used commanders and m20 is in rarely used tech tree branch. Nerfing them would make this situation worse.
Also, they are not OP, they are just good. All mines are just as easy to sweep. And these to require a lot of devotion to lay. |
If by "engaged in combat" you mean easily destroyed/ignored. Isn't the Comet another paper tank that never saw combat in WWII?
Comet was used in combat but it's true that it was used even less than pershing. Together with sturmtiger and bergetiger (from coh1) these 3 vehicles fight for the title of least battle used vehicle that is a unit in coh franchise. The bergetiger wins here most probably.
Among other two - the comet was used only in one operation, but in high numbers, while sturmtiger was very rare (18 build) and not useful in typical combat situations but was in service for a long time. That means it's hard to say which one has seen more action. |
There were much more Pershings in Europe than there were Ostwinds and Jagtigers in existance.
But of course those among a few others just pass under the radar.
Both the Tiger 1 and the M26 deserve some buffs in their current situations.
Yeah, problem is that among 40 ostwinds and 88 Jagdtigers all were engaged in combat, while among 310 pershings in europe, only 20 saw battle. They were also never used in battle against japs. That short, early series of 20 pershings justifies the usage of pershing in game though. That's what I ment by few battle usages. |
Not sure if I understand correctly, but how tweaking its AoE would buff it?
Actually, if we establish, that Pershing is probably not a good tank for 4 vs 4, this leads us to a conclusion, that USF is probably not a good faction for 4 vs 4 unless playing a support role. Pershing was initially meant to be a spearhead with more armor, a USF damage sponge. If not Pershing, then what would help the USF late game? One might say: "Jackson's sight (although still being in discussion ), M10 spam umm... that's it? In terms of tanks, there is not much we can do about German lates.
Also if we take into account that JTs are not meant for 1 vs 1 - that's true. But then again Germans have other vehicles like KTs or even non-doctrinal Panthers which are pretty much on equal terms with the Pershing. What I'm saying is that there are alternatives.
Again. I am not trying to whine GERMANS OP PLZ NERF. I am just saying that as it is now USF is troublesome in late game. I always come back to the game after a bitter defeat but after a super long game when I get rolled over by German armor with little chances of pushing them back, I tend to get a bit frustrated
Even if we agree that usf is weak late game in team games then buffing pershing is not the solution - simply becouse that would couse everybody to choose one doctrine and nobody wants that. The wider the meta the better for the game.
Not to mention that usf late game isn't weak, its just hyper micro intensive. But it can do wonders in right hands. Its just too many vehicles to controll at once for average player... |
Of course it's inconsiderate, the same way the whole premise of this topic is based on a very selfish sentiment.
If this is selfish then how selfish is leaving the game just becouse you don't like the map, you start to loose or play against specific strategy/faction? If you play automatch with random teammates, you agree to have random teammates, opponent and map. There are other modes for people who doesn't agree on this.
There is also a fair surrender option there to be used. This is a proper way of ending the game if you feel you can't make it, that's why it was implemented in first place. Leave option is just for people who really can't play to the end of match becouse of some urgency and don't want to leave the team with player afk. These people won't be hurt by 10 minute penalty.
Even the people who just have bad connections won't be hurt that much, as match waiting time for good players is just as long or, for really good ones, much longer than that. Only the ones who jump from game to game waiting for conjunction of planets in a match will get hit but they should as they are parasites of the playerbase. |
No, no and no. Holding people hostage to the game as nothing to do with improving the game for everyone, it's just petty revenge mechanic.
I absolutely hate it that this is becoming a widespread request on videogames, this will just lead to a more toxic community.
EDIT: The system can't know if you dropped because of legit internet or PC problems and thus punishing innocent people who were just having bad luck is not fair.
People should use stable computers and internet connections either way for their own good. By your logic we could also implement additional lag, just becouse some people are disadvantaged by playing on wireless connections that skyrocket their ping. |
Imo there's not that many leavers once you enter the higher ranks, this just requires a lot of games (and machosism ). From the last 20 games or so i've had maybe 1-2 had leavers in them
There's always those bad apples in the mix, but that's just the reality of random teams
This is true and I also experienced it, the problem is it's not enough to be better than your rank to advance on random ladder. There is a place on 4v4 and 3v3 random ladder where you can't get higher unless you are able to take 2-3 opponents alone, its some kind of ladder hell or black hole.
This is coused by the fact that there is so many leavers (and people with potato computers), the result of a match mostly depends on how many people leave in first 5 minutes - that gives 50/50 chance of winning, right? No. You are also matched against people who play AT, which is stupid but this is how relic liked it. These people don't leave, meaning you will usually loose, even if you are better. People who stay in that part of ladders either start playing 1v1 or just get bored of that and leave the game. They are the ones who need help from the system proposed by OP. |
Another post about AI, eh? Guys, cool. I get it. It's fine vs inf. But it's not inf that USF struggles with.
Jackson also got powerful buff recently - not needing a scout is super important for a TD, it also allows for some a-move here and there. |
