It's like you get better rifle man but pay 20 more mo for extra men (they both are 7 pop cap don't ask me why )
When ober were strong light vehicle did exist but I guess they had a 5t man with a pak 40 on one hand and mg 34 on the other
Now they are tier 4 cost 400 mp and are 10 popcap
I don't get how unit without main strenghts of riflemen like weapon racks, snare, smoke, nades, T0, vet3 uber recived accurancy bonusses and so on can be called a "better riflemen".
Penals also have 0.5 moving accurancy modifier while riflemen have 0.6. This is pretty important as it completely nullifies the firepower of 6th man while they are on the move, compared to riflemen 0.5 * 6 = 0.6 * 5 |
The problem you have is that you are trying to use in game antialiasing. Players realised a long time ago that the antialiasing mechanisms are badly implemented in coh2 and can screw up any video card. It's not bad optimisation of a game, it's just kind of a bug.
Luckily there is a workaround. What you should do is completely turn off antialiasing in game settings. Then go to your video card settings and turn the AA on there, for this application. With a good GPU you can get much better AA than you would with in game settings without noticable performance drop that way.
For me, setting AA to 32x CSAA in gpu settings for coh2 is less of a performance drop than setting in game AA from none to low. I'm using I5-2500k, gtx760 and 16gb of 1600 ram.
The only problem with this is that it does full scale antialiasing meaning that not only the part of screen that shows game but also menus and fonts are being antialiased, making fonts a little blurry, especially in main menu. But hey, you spend most time in game, dont you? |
Pretty bizarre. Have you guys seen the tourney yesterday? The only player who could semi-consistantly win axis games was the guy who won the tournament. Should tell you something about the overall state of balance. And yes, flamers on durable squads are a dumb idea.
I dont know about 3rd place match becouse the score is not available on leaderbords but out of all the other BO3s, so where people were actually close in skill, 5 out of 7 were 2:0s. What does it say about a state of ballance? These two 2:1 are also not "allies always wins" matches, for example Brosras vs Paul featured axis wins in first 2 rounds. I don't remember all the matches but there is also one close BO1 I remember: FaHu vs Quentin where quentin won as axis even after terrible amount of mistakes.
So in conclusion, out of 16 matches played in BO3 I can get results of, 7 was won by axis and 9 by allies. Is that one match enough in your opinion to say that game is imballanced?

No AT nade then they should be superior anti-infentry with flamer
Look at the grens and volks .. They have faust and excelent anti infintry upgarde, I really hope Soviets get such non commander unit.
Soviets doesnt have a unit with snare and AI upgrade even in any of the commanders
Not that they really need it but its a fact. And ofc penals should remain useful, people complain becouse soviets never used that unit as if they didn't have it at all. The same was with SU-76 buffs. Its a good trend to rescue forgotten units from the void, though. Changes were good and needed, most players just didn't have enough time to adapt. |
The Flak HT will probably get satchel charged by a flanking penal before it can pack up and run.

Well, ooraah could get removed, it may be a little to much. But still, the penal is a unit with so many disadvantages, it should keep its flamer as a unique unit and faction benefit. Especially as this very same faction can do the same thing to axis units by merging cons into engies. |
That is not early game, were penals are over performing.
AT nades are a vet 1 unlock and smoke is an upgrade, these all come a little later.
They are powerful early game, still mgs are available to both axis factions from the get go. Usf nades were also pretty early since you could get vet one with the ability, and the upgrade is pretty cheap and accessible, the only reason not to get it first is that you get the squad with the tier making your force even scarier.
So, in fact, both units are really powerful early game, but riflemen were a lot better in mid and late game. Penals are much like a one trick pony, they cant even throw short fuse nade or deal enough damage to kill the 222 fast, like shocks do, and the lack of smoke is pretty bad against long range infantry or mgs. |
It doesn't matter if they don't have smoke or AT nades, the fact that a flamer is on front line infantry is what is broken.
It matters. A lot. It just means that you can close up with any vehicle you have and do impossible amounts of damage with its gun. Or you can just crush them. The lack of AI nades and smoke also means they loose to mgs, especially as mortar is in different tier.
And its not even that the unit has no AT, its the whole tier that has no AT at all. |
Rapid conscription, Wehrmacht has a similar ability with Osttruppen that I cannot remember the name of, recoup losses.
These are powerful abilities, but none of these is a simple muni into manpower one click conversion. Recoup losses gives you less than you loose so it is not a conversion at all, while rapid conscription and relief infnatry require having an army of cheap squads on the field to achive optimal, useful effect limiting player build order choices really hard. Still yeah, these abilities can also effectivly reduce bleed which is great. |
Maybe you can remember for some month, alot of player got banned because of using fog of war maphack and drophack^^.
Also i knew friends, who have really really slow PC and internet connection, they got often a freewin, because they dropp the other guys out ( no cheat, just because of connecntion)
Yeah, I remember people being banned for maphacking. I also know that it is pretty easy to desync your game. I just find it hard to belive that the desync gives you anything. Especially as I don't recall being sync hacked ever. But maybe I don't play enough recently. |
