1) Yes, they do. Anyone can appeal. Even Relic only used the banhammer on when it was obvious. But the example you gave was a strawman.
2) Then can we see the supposed chat so that we can make up our minds, rather than us making assumptions?
I don't think it's particularly a secret on this site that the admins don't like COHEXPERTS (I'm not a member of any clan BTW, but it's pretty obvious what's going on here) and that's fair enough because they do troll a lot and have their banter so their dislike is somewhat justified. Forum warnings + bans from forum = fine, but that doesn't mean you take someone out completely from the game.
maybe it was obvious enough for relic so they pulled out the banhammer? also: not a strawman, since it is the exact same situation: someone violating the code of conduct.
as for evidence: just like with cheater replays, evidence is not presented in public. has always been like that.
Keep in mind that I would not defend any trolling, I'm only concerned about the heavy-handedness of it.
no, you also complained about no evidence being presented and no appeal being given. this is not a court of law, nor does it have to be. it's relics game, and they can pretty much do whatver the fuck they want. |
Agreed with both Stephenn and hubewa , what would be wrong is that ivan didnt get the chance to defend himself ( dont know though if he was given one ) .
Cmon generallh since when did MVGame and noob calling become a "capital offence" deserving ban , last thing we want in the community is some e-vigilante provoking the trolls resulting in more trolling . And TBH harrasive and abusive behaviour is one that can't be avoided , as i have stated you can always not give a fuck and go on about your life . I cant beleive i am defending cohexperts but they havnt wronged me or the majority of the community / playerbase so a bann seems an overkill to me .
FFS with all this ban talk , can someone explain to me what is abussive behaviour and how is it determined for all i know its all subjective to ones judgement therefore a really unreliable criterion to decide long term punishment .
And if someone is accusing another player as a cheater without good cause other than previous personal dislike ( well desrved or not ) then what is that if not abbusive behaviour .
what you guys need to get into your head is: you didn't see half of the harass hans had to endure. you didn't watch his stream 24/7, you didn't see all the in-game chat, you didn't see all the invisibled threads and posts and shouts.
about getting a chance to defend yourself...
you think that every maphacker/synchacker/whatever should be given a chance to defend himself too? :-D
"oh, i just synchacked this guy cause my cat died last week and i was feeling sad :-("
"well, okay then, no ban."
?!?!?
if you do something that is considered banworthy, you might get banned. simple as that. |
joke's on them... no offense to darkbladecr, but the data on the site is incomplete.
i think i already said that ;-) |
Noun - I have to say thank you for at least trying to answer it.
Its not the answer I was hoping for, but at least you addressed it.
I do sincerely thank you for that though.
it literally took me like 10 seconds to find these 2 interviews where for example replay functionalities and modding tools are mentioned. there are literally thousands of other sources. pretty much all fathomable questions have been adressed at some point or another (though i have to admit, the beta forums are gone now, which would have been another great source for information). |
Noun - I think its great that you take part here and are actively participating in the discussion.
HOWEVER - a good majority of the discussion here is about the lacking MULTI-PLAYER features of COH2.
I hate saying it - but the more you post here without addressing that specific concern - the more toxic the discussion is going to get.
We don't expect dates - roadmaps - detailed discussion etc - simply put - Will we get COH1 game making ability?
A simple "yes" or "no" will put your community at ease - that's all we ask.
and you already got the answer about 100 times. |
what happens if a weapon has point blank enabled and near/far range indicators NOT set to 10/-1 respectively? i thought i saw a weapon that had -1/-1 once (might be wrong though)... would that mean that the weapon basically does not have "point blank" range, since the linear degression starts right away?
also, you say it ignores cover but not garrison... so you mean it ignores all cover types BUT tp_garrison? or does it just ignore certain covertypes, but not others (among them tp_garrison)?
if so, can you get me that list at some point in time? :-P |
to 1.) i've always said that they are not mutually exclusive, i think most "snob high level pr0-gaymerzz" would agree.
to 2.) the snobbery mostly comes out when "n00b r0flc0mpst0mp" casuals complain about balance and cry for fixes when they obviously have no clue about it in the first place. a simple "balance is fine" usually doesn't satisfy them, since they usually are not looking at their play as the source of the "wrongness", but point to it being unbalanced since they do not know how to "play right": imagine this coh1 scenario "OMGZ000Rz, MG42 so OP! suppress everything, i can't get close to it without tanks, and by the time i have tanks, he has 20 panthers and kills my base! durr!" --> not knowing how to flank might make MGs look OP, but rather than learning how to execute a flank, they will demand nerfs and not take no for an answer.
to 3.) i don't think anybody complains about skins etc. as DLC, it's when the DLCs are perceived as "pay to win" when they become problematic, even if they were never intended to affect balance in any way.
to 4.) krebs filled that role adequately. if casters REALLY wanted to appeal to a wider audience, they probably would include 3v3s and 4v4s. problem with those kind of games are: a) these game types are usually not very well balanced b) they are usually populated by lesser skilled players c) they usually end up being ridiculous spam fests. all these factors contribute to the replays/casts not really being educational, but "entertaining" at the most. what viewers perceive as being "entertaining" is largely based on their taste. i for one do not enjoy watching "entertaining" casts, but i really like watching educational ones, where good strats/good mechanics/micro etc. are highlighted and explained. krebs being antagonzied does have to do with his attitude towards other streamers afaik, i for one never hated on krebs (though i did not like his casts, but that, again, is up to taste).
to 5.) balance is not that important without a "fully developed" meta game. maps are obviously not going to be great 3 weeks after release (nor plentiful) |
Noun, you've proven your qualification as a community manager in this thread. It's almost unbelievable how calm you stay and how objectively you answered the questions of haters and crybabies, who no matter how detailed their question is answered will cry on anyway.
I am actually surprised how efficiently this method works to make themself look like fools to all others =)
i don't think there are a lot of people that are more discontent with the state the game is in right now, but you are absolutely right. expectations from most people are not just unrealistic, they aren't even utopic, they are outright impossible.
and i'm saying this despite wanting to have a roadmap of some kind.
bottom line is: support so far has been good, and if they keep that rate up there is absolutely no reason to complain about anything (except maybe the patches coming in too fast). |
the answer is simple: stop abusing hans, and he will have no reason to report you for anything.
if you choose to continue abusing him, you accept the fact that you might get punished in some way or another for it.
i agree with onkelsam that this thread really doesn't serve any other purpose than to "shame" hans for reporting you, when it is his right to do so if he felt offended by whatever you said (just as a reminder, even if you think "play tutorial" is not an abusive comment, he might feel otherwise, as might any other player too). |
AoE isn't always over 100%. This only applies for the inner splash damage cause of the 5x modifier for the Near radius.
Let's take the 222 20mm as example at the far end of the spalsh radius:
25 damage * 0.25 damage = 6.25
Hit chance Far 50% -> 3.125 damage average
Same goes for every other area effect weapon. Only the near damage means a death zone.
So I stick with it, just increasing the radius a bit and not changing the other values doesn't really increase the AI capabilties of said weapons at all in a manner anyone would notice it.
Btw, can you look for the thread your were talking about. Certainly want to read, cause I am freak and I love that kind of stuff!
Regards
ace.
EDIT:
The stuff I posted is from the acatual game files I just extracted earlier this day. There is all data, directly from the game. It should be as accuerate as it ever can be.
Just want to pronounce that, cause I have the feeling it isn't really recognized.
as for the thread: i actually did dig through half of the forum like a week or two ago, couldn't find it :-(
as for aoe accuracy: i was speaking about the suggestion of increasing aoe acc for grenades and such.
as for game files: your information is accurate, while the stats on coh2stats are missing key values and somebody in another thread mentioned that some of the values are outright wrong (as in: grabbing values for a different property), which i haven't checked though.
as for calculating splash damage: remember that even if the average per hit splash damage might be very low, it is still splash damage and can effect multiple entities. so let's assume the AC is shooting at a maxim crew and doing an average 3 dmg per shot to each entity... thats a total of 18 dmg per shot. while it might take a while for the AC to actually kill squadmembers, it will do a good job of "softening them up" for other sources of damage, or getting them low enough to score critical hits. (disregarding cover, unit spacing, weapon burst, ....and basically everything what makes this game random)
