I think sandbags are mostly fine, here's my opinion:
- Conscripts can built them because they're disadvantaged at range.
- Infantry Sections can build them because cover is vital to their function.
- Riflemen can only built them with a doctrine, and that's probably okay.
- Volksgrenadiers are a well-rounded unit and do not need sandbags.
- Grenadiers cannot build sandbags so there is nothing to say about them.

Please, do not suggest things like that. There is no connection between CRK and assault guards. Also, things without mention via UI is always bad.
IMO, M5 should not be in the doctrine, since it is basic unit for Red Army (same goes for Ostheer with it's grenadiers/panzergrenadiers battle groups). There is some variants, what can be instead according to gamefiles:
- WC52 - visually identical to WC51, no skins, can be equiped with DShK, maybe some other grades as well.
- Universal Carrier - no skins, can be equiped with DShK.
Both this vehicles were used in the Red Army, and i believe some balance tweaks will help to separate them enough from M3 Scout Car.

It's a work around to prevent a bug that was frequently occurring on the ZiS gun (ZiS would become unresponsive to input).
It does not affect the gameplay in any way, it's just to circumvent the bug.
I'm curious why only the ZiS was effected but not the other functionally identical AT Guns?

Panzerfusiliers beat Conscripts though, and they get sick ass weapon upgrades while Conscripts have to wait until late game for a cover bonus. |
Maybe allow them to be built in base sectors again? They're easy to take out compared to the impact that have. You need to organize half your army to defend the thing against dives, and no matter how organized you are, you can't stop a recon plane + off map if they've got it. |
Since Stormtroopers are meant to be special forces, it probably fits them even better than the mythical Obersoldaten. I feel like a unicorn gun like that already has enough representation in the game, however. |
It's mostly fine, Volksgrenadiers are the only ones I say need to lose it. Conscripts have it because they're lackluster at range and it's the only thing that allows them to repel attackers early on. Sections have it because they're straight up crippled without cover. Riflemen get it on a Commander ability and that's fine because they don't have it at all otherwise.
Volksgrenadiers though have it because of an old faction design that no longer applies. Current Volksgrenadiers are highly cost effective, perform well at range, and have an upgrade that boosts close range performance. Unlike the other 3, the sandbags are not covering a weakness, they're amplifying their abilities. |
That is impossible to change due to how the game sees abilities. TWP is actually it "switching weapons" and attacking, which means it cannot base off the previous weapon's reload time. That means it has to reload before it can fire, or it may be able to (unrealistically) double-tap by using TWP immediately after a regular shot is fired. |
Bonus damage to your own side's units and nothing else? Yeah, that's absolutely a bug. Reminds me of CoH1 where the Wehrmacht Mortar had the friendly fire tables backwards and did reduced damage to Americans and full damage to Wehrmacht. |
Start Sappers with Lee Enfields (akin to Conscipt Mosin) and let them upgrade to an Assault Sapper status with grants them a full compliment of STEN's (akin Assault Engineer M3). British Forces lack any stock offensive units, these would work very well in tandem with Infantry Sections.
Also make Bren guns more accessible, my number one problem with UKF and USF are how hard it is to outfit all your troops with Bren/BAR, when I am facing MG 42 Grens and StG Volks. Same goes for the inverse, I find it very easy to field MG 42 Grens and StG Volks. Grenadiers get their upgrade unlocked for free, and can upgrade anywhere (Volks can upgrade in enemy territory); Sections need to purchase their weapon rack, send their men to HQ to physically pick up the weapon, and in the end it's not cheaper nor stronger than it's counterpart.
It is a whole lot more effort than a simple one-click maschinengewehr. And it's not just me, CoH2 casts I've watched, random games I've watched, tournament castings, even during the huge tournament recently I have seen this. British and American soldiers forgoing Brens and Bars but still facing down upgraded Volks and Grens. |
