IMO, unless Volks receive a combat boost (which I am not in favor of), they should be given more utility, specifically speaking: a smoke grenade
They tried smoke on main with Riflemen and it turned out to be broken as hell, completely nullified all machine gun play. Besides, Obersoldaten and Fallschirmjager both have smoke grenades, and the LeIG 18 has a smoke barrage like every mortar-type weapon.
Volks should be given sweepers upgrade (not possible to holster) - this would balance it out. The sweepers would make them repair and spot for mines. Enough to balance back the whole faction imo.
That would make mines useless against OKW, which I am not in favor of because mines win games.
Very interesting concept! Very authentic too, since Golaith's were wire controlled vehicles it makes sense that the controlling unit or vehicle would have to be nearby.
I feel like all Soviet dedicated artillery; the M-41 Mortar, the Katyusha, the ML-20; have all suffered from the removal of the Precision Strike ability. While it was a cheesy and poorly thought out ability, it was the only reason most of these were used, the ability carried these units.
The M-41 and ML-20 should both be given a Zeroing Barrage at Vet 1 where the scatter becomes tighter and tighter with each shot round, until the last one round which acts similar to the Precision Strike.
And then there are the stick grenades, no Ass(hole) Grens can't just throw one, it has to be like 5 or 6 at once so they wipe everyone or guarantee a retreat.
The stick grenades they throw deal half damage and have massive scatter because it's a saturation attack.
Until relatively recently, Ostheer T4 was more of a 'bonus' tier. In a way it still kind of is, it's just a lot more accessible. The Panzer IV is still the counterpart of the Sherman and T-34, and T4 is now more akin to getting Hammer/Anvil so you can get stronger tanks, a benefit exclusive to Ostheer and British (and afforded to OKW as standard tech),
Creeping barrage is really not at all useful. It's not like the Stuka zu Fuß that hits like a truck and is just as fast. Katyusha's rockets are slow with little impact, so spreading them out for a creeping barrage is more akin to a light rain if anything. It should just be replaced with either the precision barrage it used to have (which is essentially the Panzerwerfer's stock attack anyway) or a continuous barrage with no pauses.
The free officers were a design mistake which limits any type of customization and depth change my mind .jpg
I just feel like they fit the Soviets or Germans better. Soviets because fielding a ton of units makes sense, Germans because they liked to play up the role Officers had on the front lines.
Its a TANK, not cardboard box on tracks, like pwerfer.
It was a nostalgia fueled mistake to add the Calliope to the game, and break all the rules for rocket artillery that have been established by the Eastern factions. Most rocket artillery was mounted on unarmored or lightly armored trucks, and they would have fit perfectly within the standards set by the Eastern factions.
But Relic had to rely on vCoh nostalgia for inspiration, and now we have to try and balance a tank with two dozen rocket launchers on top.
I just wish the US Officers were more distinct from Riflemen. I had seen suggestions in the past to diversify them into things like DMR squad, LMG squad, SMG squad, etc.
