So basically a crew abandon that can't be recrewed by your opponent, but sucks up pop cap until you fully repair it, or destroy it yourself?

Something like that minus the crew abandon. At least you have a chance of getting your vehicle back and it did function as a last hit buffer.

Generally I would try replacing x % armor bonuses with + armor since the low rear armor values of vehicles make the bonus almost useless for half the vehicle.

I've been actually thinking this myself lately.

That said, the panzer 4 armor bonus is quite decent for ostheer, and the StuG hits near that threshold where stuff isnt guaranteed to pen anymore. Just the panther has a crap armor bonus (+26) vs the P4 with +54 and stug with +42.

Even with blitz the panther is actually still slower than many allied mediums with vet. For example the T-34/76 has a top speed of 7.8 with vet while the panther is 7.59 with blitz.

though it isnt the fastest tank ingame it is definitely up there as one of the fastest non light tanks ingame... the panther is simply a tank with
1. the penetration of an allied heavy tank destroyer
2. the HP pool of a heavy
3. the speed of a medium

to deny all of the panther`s advantages and ask for EVEN MORE buffs is just further evidence of a l2p issue

While I disagree with the OP vehemently I dont think that just because a tank has objective stat advantages over its counterparts, that tank isnt underperforming in some way or may be overpriced.

The argument could have been made for the comet that it is ACTUALLLY one of the fastest vehicles in the game period and had superior armor to the panther as well as stock smoke+WP, crew grenades for fighting AT guns, great AP values and a bonus +10 sight from the commander. Despite all that the comet was still underperforming for its price.

The panther may or may not need a buff or a tweak but I dont think increasing its penetration is one needed.

If we were to keep main gun crits, I would re-implement them to a death crit, something like this:


5% chance if damage would destroy a tank, instead apply immobilization and main gun destroyed. These effects are reversed only once the tank is restored to 100% health.



In this implementation, there is a slight drawback to the attacker as a hit that would otherwise have destroyed a vehicle instead incapacitates it. HOWEVER, the combined aspect of main gun destroyed AND immobilization coupled with requiring full repairs to function again helps offset this. Think of it like a chance to proc T-34 ram debuff if your tank would otherwise die.

Oh and crew abandon should just be removed entirely, while main gun crits are currently very punishing, crew abandon can be game breaking.

Theres already enough rng with penetration rolls, accuracy, and scatter. Those should keep things interesting enough without the need to punish a player so heavily through one instance of sheer luck.
Most forms of RNG can be controlled to some extent or other, stopping your vehicle to fire to maximize accuracy, moving infantry closer to reach an optimum engagement range, advancing with a tank to improve penetration.
Even mines which rely on the enemy walking over a specific spot have an aspect of user input as you had to make an educated guess about where the enemy would walk.
Main gun crit, and crew abandon on vehicles is not the type of rng that can be truly influenced, neither by the defender player nor the attacker.

I do not think that winning a game because your enemy donated you his first medium through no choice of his counts as using skill to overcome RNG. That's RNG handing you victory despite potentially having worse skill.


Anyone who thinks this change would make the game too much like starcraft has clearly not played starcraft.
