Forum is run by soviet whiners they want to nerf the only unit that has any sort of credibility in the OKW arsenal. Yet it still gets owned by the US AA truck in a 1v1 fight. Amazing
You're not exactly well placed to talk of credibility here. Good players consistently rate the Puma as a very good unit, and while we shouldn't take their word as absolute gospel, it's certainly worth more than the opinion of someone who still believes the result of a matchup from 2 patches ago still exists.
Hint: even if both units are immobile, puma will kill the AA HT all the time, unless the puma also exposes its rear. Since your puma has no reason to be immobile nor to expose its rear, only very poor micro can make it lose. |
I'm talking about the cannon. I followed a sniper squad all the way to base the cannon fire right near the sov sniper squad 6-7 times. Didnt even kill one squad member. And your so called MG42 did not kill it either.
You can't really argue with stats. 8 DPS is not significant, but it's not non-existant either. The cannon is pure RNG, I had Pumas with 20 infantry kills and I had some with 3 kills across a 30 minute game. |
A Tiger wouldn´t have bounced that many shots from a SU-85, Zis and T-34/85. StuGs with less range than a Su-85 and no turret should actually be able to somewhat reliably pierce through a heavy tanks armor. After all we see 85mms going through everything also.
Tiger does bounce T-34/85 shots pretty often in my experience, and SU-85s aren't the equivalent of StuGs. It's true that PaKs can have a bit of a hard time however.
I do think 375 armor is a bit much, but then again the Tiger still has superior survivability via Blitz, and most doctrines that have it also pack smoke. So it's not like like the IS-2 is really OP. |
My assertion being that since the OKW has the worst at gun in the game, it needs some proper compensation for it, like a very strong Puma, should I now post a video on how the Raketenwerfer is shooting into the ground for 10 mins with clown music?
But, yeah, I have 17 posts, and obviously must have no idea about anything and I should not speak up.
A quite inviting attitude for a community starving for people to get involved.
That's not really how balance works. You don't get a free pass for an overpowered unit because you find that another unit is not very good.
By the way, I don't think the Puma is that overpowered, and the Raketen's only real problem is that it hits the ground too much. OKW also has shrecks on a very tough and cheap basic unit, as well as the best non-turreted tank destroyer in the game. Later on, its Panther is actually pretty solid, and both the Tiger and Jagdtiger rule the battlefield against armor. Tell me again how the OKW has bad AT options.

Had a teammate who used it.
Grenades are slow, and not terribly effective. You won't hit anything faster than a Tiger, and then the 'nades probably won't penetrate.
The mines seem redundant, since Soviets already have a cheap and effective mine.
Conscript PTRS at 3 CPs? This weapon already sucks at 2 CP on the thougher Guards for free, now you want to make your only infantry even less powerful by paying ammo for it, in order to get a rifle that can't hurt anything bigger than a halftrack? Sure, that totally justifies getting the doctrine.
Salvage kit he didn't even use. Not really an exciting ability.¸
The bombing run is apparently fairly cheap, but the bombs aren't very powerful. From what I saw a few hits brought a P4 to half health.
It seems this commander is pretty much only there for flavor, or if you won the early game so hard you want to troll your opponent. |
Simple maths issue: you earn 66% of something, and the other player earns 100%, he earns 50% more than you. Therefore, OKW's Puma price is 105fu.
Except Puma is available after investing 40 fuel, that you start with by the way. Sherman needs at least 50 + 90. That's not going into the fuel needed to unlock a T-34 (at least 20 + 120) or a P4 (100 in tech + 30, assuming you don't build T1 or T2 which is lol).
People who bitch about OKW's reduced fuel always seem to forget their teching costs are the lowest in the game and they can access powerful units before any other faction. That's without mentioning fuel conversion too.
The Puma could use the smoke being a vet ability, and maybe a slight pen reduction. It seems to me it should be a flanking vehicle, yet with RNG it can take a T-34 or Sherman head on.
I mean, it's not like OKW lacks in anti tank firepower. |
It's very easy to make the shocks eat a grenade in that scenario, which sends them packing right away.
About Jaegers: yeah I got got burned by these guys a few times thinking I needed to get close to them. My poor PPSh conscripts got annihilated several times. On the other hand DP-28 Guards did pretty well against them while staying at range. The unit doesn't need a big nerf or anything, maybe just a slight cost increase.

I wouldn't compare (OKW) Panther to E8, Panzer IV vs E8 is a better comparison. If you look at it this way, E8 definitely needs 10-15 fuel increase. Panther still needs 10-15 fuel decrease though.
Not sure. E8 is obviously meant as a later game tank, being the most expensive and most powerful medium in the game, second only to... the Panther. Sure, E8 beats the P4, but it's more expensive and later game and doctrinal too. E8's main problem is the whole call-in structure, which needs revision. After that, maybe the unit needs a price increase, we shall see. I would prefer a reduction in firepower, but NO armor decrease. The US needs at least one tank that doesn't die to a sneeze.
And I'd much rather they give the Panther buffs (mostly accuracy or rate of fire and maybe movement speed) than lower its price. It should be the most expensive and most powerful medium. |

It's better at fighting infantry and... that's it. The Panther has better armor, better range, more health, better pen, is faster, has a useful vet ability, and faces less powerful AT (especially in the US's case). 1v1 there is no reason for a Panther to lose to an E8, and against armor in general it is straight up better too.
Now, if the question was ''why is the E8 so much more cost-effective than the Panther'', we might have an actual discussion, because I believe that's very much the case (thanks in large part to the call-in system). But in no way is the E8 straight up better than the Panther unless it fights infantry.
Also, let's differenciate the Panthers: the OKW is good. The Ostheer one is bad. The latter should definitely inherit the former's stats, and the unit in general might need a boost too. But the OP is too full of hyperbole to take seriously. |

Yeah, I think the MG34 alone makes up a bit more than half of the Ober's total DPS or something like that. If you capture it, it's an incredible murdermachine. I actually got on on a rear echelon squad (was forced to grab it or lose it) and they ended up with 25 kills or something along those lines. That showed my Rifles with their puny BARs.
Also, if someone wants a relay, check the one that's posted on the highlight, Barton vs HelpingHans. Barton generally got outplayed, but he managed to counter his foe's Shocks pretty well. |
