The huge balance problem we have in team games is the maps. Conceptually, Axis are two very defensive factions where as Allies are very mobile and very aggressive. In 1v1's or on some 2v2 maps such as Moscow Outskirts Allies are able to make use of their aggressive and mobile units. However due to all of the chokepoint, cluttered and blobby maps that occupy 3v3, 4v4 and the majority of 2v2 maps, it means that flanking and outmanoeuvring your opponent is impossible so it's all about blobs vs blobs, support weapons verse support weapons, tanks vs tanks over the exact same points.
This whole post +1000. Perfectly stated and well written. Additionally, I despise Semois as a 2v2 map... too small and too many chokepoints. |
This also works hilariously well in 2v2... probably even better since losing the capping power isn't as detrimental. Thanks for this. |

I'd trade button for handheld AT along the caliber of shreks. It's something that the Soviets sorely lack anyway. |
Awesome, thanks guys. That sounds really promising. I'm sure there are brand new issues now, but things do sound improved. |
I haven't played since sometime last year. With the expansion out, I'd considered coming back and giving the game another shot. Can someone briefly explain the meta changes to the game since then? Here was the state of things right as I quit:
-Weapon teams were nerfed to take much more damage from standard fire to counter the stupid MG42 spam
-A new round of cheesy P2W commanders had just been released... I specifically remember the Soviet industry commander that was allowing for 6 minute T34s or something like that.
-Clown car snipers were cheesing it up in most Soviet builds.
-Everyone complained about the LOS and range of the SU-85.
-Tiger Ace had just come out and was pretty OP.
There were a few other minor things... I think they were working on penals to make them actually viable and most Soviet builds involved guard squads. Has the meta improved? Is it worth returning? |
I haven't played for a month but was excited to see a big new balance patch. Reading about these commanders has completely killed my excitement. Just stop feeding this kind of behavior. If it continues, I'm done with this game. Very disappointing, Relic. |
Well, someone pls tell me what I'm doing wrong. Because when I use the Il2, it mostly just circles and circles untill it runs out of time, but it rarely hits anything.
Especially not if it was called to an area near the map edge. It seems that it can't find an angle at the outlying areas.
That goes for the Sturmovik bombing run too btw. I've had several runs do nothing at all. I just buzzes around and never delivers a bomb.
Yeah really. That's why I said earlier that it's not worth the cost. Obviously I'm doing it wrong. |
I will try it with an Ostwind, but I don't expect too much. And saving 240 mun isn't that hard: if you had in early game mapcontrol, and didn't build flamers or PPSH-41 or you just have an mun-op its not as hard as you think to get 240 muns.
Last time I used this, it got shot down by an ostwind on the first pass. It's not consistent though. |
I've never found this to be worth the high munition cost, but maybe that's just me. |
The only speed adjustment I'd like to see is removing blitzkrieg when the engine is damaged. Allowing it to be used with a busted engine is such a horrible design decision it's almost unfathomable. |
