Thread: Tips for Improving Your Play25 Jul 2013, 21:29 PM I usually go with special rifle myself, but it's a matter of need and play style. Flaming scout car is my preferred early method for dealing with MGs, as I find mortars to be too slow and random. Plus if you can keep your car alive, it becomes very useful into the mid-game. Snipers are great, but I don't build them early. They're too vulnerable to scout cars. I build guards and try to hold map control to tech to T4 for the SU-85, THEN go back and build two snipers. Dual snipers will absolutely wreck his PGs and late game forces and usually bait him into doing something dumb like over-committing a P4. Just ALWAYS keep them on the move and sprint them away if you hear the thunk of mortars. Bonus points if you have the doctrine that gives you the 120mm mortar, since you skipped the support building. It takes two shots from T70 to kill an enemy(discounting the occasional crit). The T70 fires in bursts of 4 shots, I think. If that burst happens to kill a single PGren, there's a chance he'll drop the shrek and lose one of his shots. You can also draw shrek fire away from the T70 (its a nifty trick) and attack the shreks during their cooldown (Stephen suggested this once). Three shots to kill a T70? In that case, I'll give in to you guys' argument here. I think that the range change is reasonable. In: COH2 Balance

Unless I'm missing something, a 222 can shoot conscripts without getting into AT grenade range. Killing a well microed 222 is really hard with conscripts because... it's meant to counter conscripts. The same should be the case with the T70. If the Pak can hit it, we're good. There are plenty of times that I've used T70s in which I would have gotten blown out of the water if the Paks were hitting consistently. In: COH2 Balance

On a tank that's geared toward fighting infantry, it shouldn't be counterable with only infantry. A double shrek hit will take this thing out (I think). Yes, it's too good right now. The ZiS works wonders if the enemy tank is immobilized AND your T70 destroy any infantry trying to approach it. Am I the only one who doesn't find it feasible to go both T3 and T4 in a competitive 1v1? What kind of fuel income are we talking where you're able to field T70s, a T34 (to be thrown away with a ram), and SU-85s. Building that many units before the SU-85 would leave me as toast. This means he can just camp and lock down. No real option for me to lock down like that early/mid game. The german mortar is just not strong enough to break a lockdown like that. Flanking with my p4 is nigh impossible with at nades and very limited room to maneuver. I have no trouble with su85 on a map like moscow, but on smaller chokey maps they are just too strong. The russian doesnt need much skill to pull it off either cos su85 is so easy to use. My infantry cant advance effectively either unless i have extremely overwhelming numbers (which always happens right?). Is this a joke? Pripyat is such a German cheese map it's not even funny. Most of the time I don't even bother to play it. It's so trivial to lock down the chokepoints with the MG42/mortar/Pak/bunker combo (pick a few). Good luck ever flanking those MGs in the early game, leading to mid and late game German dominance. This map completely negates the benefits of Soviet early game play (flanking, map control) if the German is half decent. But on topic, yeah the SU-85 needs to be toned down, but only in conjunction with a ZiS buff (and probably a P4 nerf) or Soviets have no way to deal with German armor. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: T70 needs IMMEDIATE NERF24 Jul 2013, 12:37 PM Yeah, just increase Pak accuracy vs it. If the German player has 1-2 Paks, then they've planned sufficiently and should win the engagement. Nerfing its range would make it a pointless buy, if it couldn't shoot at infantry without getting fausted every time. Right now it's the only thing of real value in Soviet T3 anyway, and it has a limited span of real usefulness. It only takes one P4 to come out and ruin your day. In: COH2 Balance

They certainly have their value. It also depends on the mode... I play 1v1 and 2v2, and conscripts are definitely more valuable into the late game in 1v1. But still, every other weapon upgrade is global (that I know of), so why is the conscript one doctrinal? I don't really think that it would encourage conscript spam any more than we have now, since conscripts will still have their weaknesses... it just gives them a little boost in value at a muni cost. Once they nerf HTD, conscripts will be even less valuable than they are now. But I'm fine with buffing penals instead, as Nullist suggested. Basically here's the situation I want to avoid... where German infantry is only counterable with doctrinal units. It takes me back to the old CoH: OF days where riflemen couldn't stand against the hordes of G43 wielding PG blobs, and it took Rangers to come in as a call in to pick up the slack against standard infantry. That's retarded. I don't want to see it happen here. In: COH2 Balance
