I think USF is in an ok spot balance wise. The biggest improvement they could make is to seldom-used units and commanders to give USF some diversity imo. There is a very narrow number of viable builds/commanders. Yea USF doesn't lack potency. There is plenty they are strong at. They just lack versatility and variety. Funny enough, the very things relic advertised them as. So they end up being rather boring to play. |
Seriously though, saying 3 zis is strong is a stupid statement. That's 960mp worth of pure, slow, vulnerable AT. Of course it's strong. It's not like it isn't counterable or hard to punish. There's a reason both axis factions have rocket artillery. They are much cheaper then 3 zis too. A player with three zis will undoubtedly be lacking in infantry as well. |
What USF still needs:
1. Some form of non-doctrinal heavy indirect
2. Buildable weapon caches
3. One more early game unit for diversity
4. M20 cost decrease, mine laying speed buff
5. More commanders and buffs for lots of bad commander abilities

The same is true for literally every artillery piece. They are attrition units. The longer they are out on the field the more damage to your army they will do.
Luckily they are no longer buildable in the base. So you will need to be aggressive and raid your enemies backline and destroy it.
If it immediately begins attacking your base then this is a good opening since your opponent just spent 600mp that isn't doing any damage to your fighting forces. Use that 600mp advantage to assault him.
The same is true for every artillery piece in the game. If they build one, you need to get aggresive quick and come up with a way to destroy it or you will lose the game. There is nothing special about the ML-20.

Further more, OKW is designed in a way which requires you to use forward HQs in order to remain in game. This simply isn't true. OKW infantry is just as good as soviet infantry, even better if you keep them alive. They have a fuel disadvantage, but it really isn't by as much as it seems and they can access better armor then the other factions incredibly quick. On top of this their base sector provides them with everything they may need if they fall behind on resources.
they have plenty more ways of making up for their resource disatvantage then the base structures, and they only exist as a way to keep up momentum and aggresion. If you don't think you can keep up your momentum then don't build these in the field. If you do so you should be aware that they WILL eventually be destroyed one way or another. They aren't meant to be permanent emplacements that allow you to lock down sectors of the maps for the entire duration of the game. That would just be unfair to the allies if they had no means to counter it. They are a risk and you should treat them accordingly. |
What's with this obsession of making UKF emplacements easily decrewed? The only thing worse then emplacements being destroyed, is them being easily taken by the enemy.
Even worse UKF doesn't have easily available flame weapons or indirect, so it would end up even more durable in the enemies hand then the ones who built it. |
I'm going to edit:
1 entity with bazooka or BAR can get a 2nd BAR or bazzoca
Still not a bug. 1 entity is still one squad with 2 weapon slots. It's supposed to be this way. The weapon will only return once the squad reinforces, but it still is supposed to exist on the unit. |

The problem is you need to build t3 before t4, so as the axis tanks come out fast (especially in 4vs4) you need something to face it = you build the versatile Su76.
Then with the pressure the axis putting on you,you can't afford the time and fuel to build t4 and Su85. So you keep building Su76...
To solve this i would lower the cost of T4 a bit to make it more attractive and achievable and 4vs4. Last time I checked I think soviets had pretty much the same fuel cost to reach T4 as every other faction that isn't OKW, but the manpower cost was more expensive. I'd lower that first.
Su-76 is very necessary to take on P4s and ostwind, especially when using T1 and not having an AT gun. |

I think the SU-76 isn't a light tank destroyer at all, it's a bonafide tank destroyer, just weaker and cheaper than the SU-85. The problem I see is, if it's delegated to its roll as a light TD, then it locks SU out of their actual TD until they tech up to their last tier and purchase their most expensive tank. I feel like that end-of-the-road teching just to get a TD that can fight med tanks would limit SU too much in terms of AT power. Every other faction gets their TDs relatively in the middle of the game. Jackson and Firefly only requires 2 tiers to tech up. JPIV and Stug can be gotten relatively early. Until SU spends 85 + 100 + 120 (over 300) fuel to tech up + purchase their TD, they would only have to rely on their subpar infantry AT and, in a situation where SU-76 is regulated to a light TD, their subpar SU-76 until they are at the end-of-the-end of their teching.
And SU-76 and StuG are definitely 100% comparable to each other. Labelling one a med TD and one a light TD doesn't excuse the med TD nor does it give reason for the light TD to be worse. They are both TDs that can be gotten within minutes of each other, need comparatively the same fuel to tech up to, and generally cost the same. That makes them comparable in every sense of the word. And like the person you quoted said, the StuG is miles and away better than the SU-76 for only 15 more fuel.
Also, what is even a "light TD"? Who would buy a TD that could only fight light vehicles and bother medium armor? What role would it even serve? It would be garbage again if you want it to only fight light vehicles. Honestly, the very notion makes me balk.
That's why I feel like SU-76 needs to be as capable as it is now. It already dies in 3 hits. It already does 40 less dmg than other TDs. Those are its weaknesses.
What the hell is with that terrible assumption that I said it shouldn't be able to fight medium armor. I posted earlier where I literally said it should be good against all medium armor.
And yes a soviet player who doesn't tech up to their final tier should be penalized when fighting heavier armor like the panther and Tiger. They shouldn't be able to just spend all game in their light vehicle phase. SU-76 is a light vehicle, period. It comes out in a light vehicle tier and needs significantly less resources to reach then other medium vehicles. Stop acting as if soviet T4 is some late game tech. You know who else needs to tech to their final tier and purchase their most expensive tank to get a good tank destroyer. Every other allied faction! |
