Seems unlikely that this is the case. The maxim buff still leaves it way weaker than in the beta. The main point of the maxim changes was that maxim close range suppression is faster (I think it's a nice improvement) which doesn't really impact MG on MG action. The damage on the 2 HMGs, as you've been told repeatedly, is actually basically even, and prior to the patch the MG-42 actually had more DPS at close range. I don't know whether it does now, but the numbers will be very close. |
I think Kholodny Winter/Summer are very strong and give nicely different types of game. Semoiskiy is probably the one I most look forward to games on right now (I think the long, consistent green cover in the graveyard is a really nice change from the very limited green cover on a lot of the other maps) but I need a bit of time to get a feel for how balanced it is.
Langreskaya I'm going to need to give a go on the current patch. Last patch I don't think it offered room for enough playstyles for Soviets, really. |
Personally I really enjoy a lot of the winter map features. I think campfire radius going up a little would make them more fun/would make blizzards not so much of a drag.
The big exception is Langreskaya Winter. While the deep snow allows a few curious neat tricks and kiting and such, it also exacerbates the map's very strong options for campy play, makes harassing resources harder and riskier on account of the slow retreat, further increases the power of MGs in certain buildings and so on and so forth. |
Interesting. I already suspected as much, would have been very surprised if it really favored one faction.
I guess it decreases the effectiveness of the conscript health bulletin, though? In pure Gren vs. Conscripts early game engagements of course.
Um, I think I saw someone suggest you die when you drop below a certain amount of hit points anyway, so the effect of the conscript health bulletin might actually be increased. |
My experience of the ZiS is that it's very reasonable AT until you come up against a Vet 2 Panzer IV, at which point it stops really cutting it. |
@Blovski: It comes straight from a Devs mouth that AT nades have a parabolic trajectory, and a very good chance to hit rear armor, even when thrown from infront, because it arcs and lands on the tank.
Dont ask me how that is supposed to make sense, or be reasonable. But thats the word.
Apparently AT Nades thrown from the front have a very good chance to actually hit rear armor instead.
@Abdul: I once pooped a little me, that pooped a little me, that pooped a little me.
It was incredible. Like a Russian Matroshka doll of constant pooping. Sorry I have no video/pics, but apparently shit can be truth. Reality needs to be rebalanced.
Yeah, the arc makes it sometimes hit rear armour. I don't feel like I see it much at long range, though obviously you can't really tell. |
Devil and Jager... this has no basis whatsoever in reality, does it?
The change to AT nades is such that they will still always penetrate on the rear armour of a P-IV or Ostwind or what have you but they are now only about a 60% chance to penetrate a P-IV or Ostwind head-on. Against a Panther, they are less likely to penetrate, against a tiger there's only a 40% chance of penetrating even on the rear armour. Against an elephant, head-on, an AT nade has only a 25% chance of penetrating. Sometimes, a head-on AT-nade *can* hit the rear armour though it's not very common unless you're at very close range.
As with all penetration things, the rear armour is easier to get through, so it's probably you charging past conscripts and leaving the rear armour exposed.
It could just be you're both exceptionally unlucky, or it could be that you just haven't noticed when you've had a deflection, or it could be that you're making things up.
The things affected by the Panzerfaust change (I don't know what the ISU-152's armour is) are the SU-85, the KV-8 and the IS-2. Two of which are units you shouldn't be fausting and one of which is a unit that shouldn't be in faust range (if an SU-85 is in faust range, the Russian player has done something wrong). I think the chance of deflection of a faust on an SU-85 is lower than that of an AT nade on a P-IV. Russian T-3 tanks have no chance of deflecting a faust.
If you did *that* well in the early game, you would have an Ostwind before the SU-85 came out. |
The same nature that allows Strafe chaining in 2v2+, also allows for sufficient Quad production. AA may need some adjustment overall, but I think its in a pretty good place atm.
Strafe was already adjusted. Unless you are trying to argue that the Devs are idiots, it stands to reason it is now where its intended to be, rendering this thread null and void.
Strafe used to be patently ridiculous. Now it's just far too good for cost. I think the devs were right to adjust it down by degrees and reasonably didn't want to nerf it and increase the cost at the same time but that comparing it to propaganda artillery or something still suggests it's not exactly balanced against the other 120-150 muni offmaps.
Because it's undodgeable, it takes relatively little skill to use compared to other offmaps and there is very little you can do to avoid it through skill. Because it affects a big area and pins a variety of targets without any obvious priority, it can basepin effectively for a long time. Because it's very cheap and comes with the Opel Blitz truck, wasting it isn't a big deal, compared with the 240 muni heavy strafes both factions have.
@Woofdevil; while I agree that balancing 4v4 is impossible, I don't think that should extend to dismissing things which completely ruin that experience. |
I don't agree. Remember ostheer have to research before they build, which also takes time. The total time to build(research+actual build time) should be similiar to russian build times if i'm not mistaken (save for tier one which doesn't require research).
This does also mean that the Russian engineers have to be doing nothing for much longer, and backteching is much slower and pricier, so I'm kind of OK with that. |
Its funny how they nerfed ostwind in the recent patch .... while t70 and kv8 just insta kills squads.
Ostwind and unvetted FHT takes ages to force the 6 men rusky squads to retreat.
The Ostwind hasn't been changed recently. If anything, it received a buff via the changes to AT nades. Try harder.
The KV-8 is obviously silly. The T-70 is OK, albeit a bit too good at dodging PAK shots. |
