I love the notes Good job Relic! Can't wait to test them out
Cold Tech is disabled in Automatches. AWWWW YEAH!!! Snow maps here I come!
Not sure why people want to have incendiary grenades on sturmpio's...
Most of all, because they don't want to loose the normal grenade, if I had to guess. At least that's my reason.
Inc nades should have animation just as long as molotovs.
There isn't a single balance reason why inc nade should be better then molo in this regard.
it costs more (plus reduced income)
That aside, the 'street riot'-like throw animation of molotovs is really just befitting of that one thing (molotovs, that is). It is not suiting for an incendiary grenade that was created in a factory. Keep in mind that the grenade model in the preview was probablly not finalized. The incendiary will probablly look similar (if not same) to regular german grenades. Why should they throw these in a different way? |
They need to be separate in order to animate their movement.
I think I never consciously saw units move their eyeballs. Or even blink
And well, yes they should really look into female animations. Snipers are ok, but its not only partisants, look at soviets medics: these girls are freaks! Sth should be done. Maybe they can bring back other animations too and give as half female army from the early versions. Everybody would love it!
Agreed. Though, as I pointed out, the 'half female' army, as you call it, could also be done with a potential 2nd soviet faction. I would appreciate a fresh take on the soviets. They had enough variety of equipment. There is enough 'popular demand' about the current soviet faction that would encourage the creation of a 2nd army for such people who are passionate about the Red Army!
Anyways, I agree with the general notion that the following female animation need to be redone in a proper, glitch free way:
- Soviet Medics' stand animation (not hunched plz! Give them a more female pose, similar to snipers)
- Female team weapons (aka Partisans that recrewed weapons.) |
Mein Gott.
Also, did they ever respond to the popular suggestion of giving the flame grenade to sturmpios instead of volks? I'm interested as to whether they had any good balance reasons against it.
They should have let us try that when there was still some time to go in the balance preview - It just doesn't seem right this way.
This is the only change that I genuinly dislike.
They must at least POLISH the new incendiary properly;
currently, in the Preview patch, it has
1) the molotov throwing animation. It is too slow, so the grenade flies before the animation finishes. It looks glitchy. The old throwing animation of their former grenade needs to return here.
2) The 'projectile' thrown is actually a molotov! If they are going for the PE retro-feel here, then the 'projectile' should look like a normal grenade, and only upon detonation should it burst in flames. (This would also retain some of the iconic feel to the recognizeable grenade model).
^^To see such unifinished animations and detalis in the live version would be rather underwhelming. |
^^I would suggest to make a bug report in the bug section of the official site.
This is also kind of a thread bump of justice, as I think Relic could really put some effort into this! Such details improve the game. So in my opinion, they should consider re-animating female weapons crews, even if they would be seldomly seen (only when female partisans re-crew team weapons). However, they could then seize the opportunity and add some call-in team weapons to partisan-styled commanders to not only make them more intersting but also pay tribute to these units. |
I disagree, this game throws history out the window and with all the goofy, rare vehicles we already have in game, one grenade change shouldn't "ruin" the experience. If it does then your knowledge of WWII is questionable. I won't argue against putting the Incin-nade on Sturms as then they make better assault infantry and getting a second one at the start of the game is more feasible. I will argue against all "Historical Accuracy" arguments.
I understand that the atmosphere created by the game is rather aiming for a cinematic experience, and not for a total simulation. A simulation would be less interesting, probablly.
However, there is things that are recognized by many. People who do not know such details as the production numbers of certain vehicles will stil recognize iconic items such as the german steel helmet, the typical american 'pineapple' grenades or... the german 'Stielhandgrenade'.
And that is my point. Of course, there is 'goofy, rare' vehicles - but many people wouldn't even recognize them as such, I suppose. It is about generating a cinematic ww2 experience, not a simulation. And there, the Stielhandgrenade actually helps as it is associated with ww2 by many. I would also dislike it if the regular grenade was removed from US Riflemen or UK Infantry Sections. They need such iconic items.
This is only my opinion of course. |
I think I know why female partisan models were removed.
It is a bug with the models. When they recrew team weapons.
I was toying around with the modding tools lately. I also put a female crew on the ZiS gun. What I noticed upon zooming in: Their eyes poped out! It looked really scary.
This reminded me of the beta: Tanks that have female voice acting used to have female spotters (T-70 for example). These, too, had bugged animations.
It seems that, whenever female models use male animations (tank crew spotter animation, weapon crew animations), it will look very glitch-y when zooming in.
I guess Relic wanted to avoid that. It is a shame. But I can understand that Relic doesn't want to create seperate animations for the rare case that female partisans recrew a team weapon...
(On a side note: I still think it is a wasted opportunity if Relic does not make a 2nd Soviet faction. This faction would be what OKW is to Ostheer. It would elaborate on typical characteristics of that nation even more, just like OKW does compared to Ostheer. As such, within such a 2nd Soviet army, the female representation could be broader as it is with the current soviet faction. This would be the perfect reason to actually reanimate female weapon teams in a proper, non-bugged way. There are accounts of german tankists fighting anti-tank guns to later realize in shock that these were 'manned' by women. Such things could be part of a potential second soviet army, a soviet army that would represent such typical soviet things as the use of female soldiers in a more straight forward way. As I like to imagine it, such 2nd soviet faction would try to appease fans of the Red Army (just like OKW did when everybody was unhappy about Ostheers' uniforms). It is a wasted opportunity for Relic to cash in (sorry ) on fans of the Red Army by giving them what they really want in the form of a 2nd soviet army. It would be late-war. It would have REAL combat engineers with body armor. It would have REAL soviet regular soldiers with NORMAL grenades...)
^^^Wait, I think I went a bit off-topic there. Sorry. |
Relic, will OKW incendiary grenades be given to Sturmpioneers?
ok, here we go
'Please respond'
you wrote 'incendiary' in a hot topic. Thus I was summoned.
To prove my point, I will quote more stuff that suits my 'Stielhandgrenade' agenda
this. since the okw are already getting flamenade, let's give it to the sturmpioneers. They are suppose to be assault troop and engineer unit usually get the flame related weapon.
Agree, Flamenade to Sturms please!
Indeed Flamenade to sturms!!!
This is an interesting idea, would like to see it in the preview build to test out for practicality.
Seriously though, the balance preview would be the excellent place to at least try it out. Instead of dismissing it prematurely. If it goes well, then both immersion and gameplay will be served, thus a positive outcome could be achieved!
Sturms would have way too much utility for the cost with that.
Repair, sweep, decent dps and survivability, stun nades, med kits, mine laying and you want inc nades on top of that?
(...)
If it means the normal grenade will be gone, then I'd rather see no incendiaries at all! In my opinion, the game's quality comes from a mix of immersion and fun gameplay. None of the two can exist without the other.
Now, the iconic standard-issue 'Stielhandgrenade' is so typical for WW2, that, in this case, the immersion criteria predominates, in my opinion.

Bulletins are fine, they are not meaningless, not sure why you think increasing your cons (or any base infantry) dps by around 9% (if you have 3 good bulletins) is meaningless.
I pay 41 munitions for teller mines and 49 muni for s minefields, which is pretty nice compared to the normal 50/60 muni.
If it was done in a creative and careful way, this could be really good. Would surely provide more 'connection' to your slightly personalized army.
While it might be dangerous balance-wise, I could also image such a bulletin that gives conscripts a normal grenade; or the incendiary of Volks from the patch preview could be tied to such a bulletin, replacing the normal grenade. Then people would have a choice, at least. |
2) Tho this is only a problem for vehicle inf he another problem the instant warning on the minimap if points get decaped this makes infantry sneak attacks deep into enemy territory nearly impossible, since your opponent gets the info if your inf sqauds are just passing the capture circle. The warning could come when the point is like 50% decapped but not instantly.
If anything, the warning should only be absent when certain 'infiltration-like' units (like Partisans or Jaegers) capture a point. Removing it all together is, in my opinion, not a good idea, as it can cause player frustration to not receive feedback / vital information. |
EDIT I'm also worried that Volks Incendiary Grenades will be OP against emplacements since for a small amount of Muni you can hard counter an Emplacement (especially with a long Cooldown on Brace) 2 Grenades Spaced out a bit = GG Emplacements.
then why not give the incendiary to Sturmpios? They are more expensive, thus more seldom, thus more reaction time between using 'brace'. Also, it would encouraged more okw start builds (against brits, at least)
Also, it just suits them better, goddamnit |
