i still feel the best way to play against okw and ostheer in 2v2 is cons + maxim + guards/zis/120mm then waiting out for t34/85. it seems to be the most versatile strategy. as it covers most potential problems encountered early to mid. 120mm for indirect fire. maxim/cons to hold the line and guards for some much needed long range dps. zis for AT since okw dont really have medium tanks, a simple ZiS is usually enough with AT nades and ptrs+button. if played right, its difficult for them to push through with only infantry. so expect stukas and obersoldatens. If you keep your ears opened you can easly avoid the stuka. It's fine for the cost and the long cooldown considering the 2/3 income. hi, watch the replays, instant retreat does not, i say again, DOES NOT save squads. so keeping ear open only lets me know the impending doom.
seriously? you are bringing this into the argument? everything that you said are direct fire units and MUST risk exposure to enemy fire and can be prevented. if a tanks can fire on your squads long enough to wipe squads, there's a player problem. nades are dodgable, with very usually obvious animations or a squad closing in is a good indicator. like i explained before. stuka do not risk exposure and places all its rounds into a small area in a tiny time frame and nukes everything. that is the main difference. you might as well say small arms have squad wipe potential too. since you have clarified me and even worked out the values, i think it speaks for itself. the 215 armour is at least 88% meaningless. in fact, against values like these, 800hp is more important than 640hp + 35% armour increase, since it guarantees at least 1 additional hit rather than relying on the 12% bounce. the only advantage ez8 has over t34/85 is against medium tanks, which then, the armour means alot more. however, when compared to the majority of german anti armour units, it is at least 79% meaningless, using jadgpanzer values. I agree with Napalm. I have for the last 8 games as Soviets tried to use a conscript based army against OKW. Its just a bad bad idea. Its even worse if you try Penals. You either need Dual snipers or Maxims to deal with that level of firepower. You need to debuff it so to speak by either suppression or sniping. i believe the problem is not the sturm's cost or whether it is free, i believe the problem is that it is available immediately. they can remove sturms as a starting unit and give okw a more versatile start. refund them the mp, let okw start with 560mp without a starting unit. this way they can delay sturm's relative early game power and let okw players experience with newer strats. to be fair, USF starts with a crappy starting unit that deals virtually no damage, both ostheer and soviets need their engie for building construction. there is no reason why okw can have supremacy over everyone by hitting the field faster, going for key cut offs and garrison buildings faster than allied armies or even ostheer. who are you playing against who doesnt move their stuka back to base after firing? good luck flanking that with infantry. who are you playing against, who doesnt protect their stuka with their entire army? good luck trying to stop a stuka with shocks and conscripts. maybe if you moved up the ladder a little more, people there will protect it to the death. they know its power and they know its a game winner. a combined arms attack can be pushed off, god forbid if the stuka was firing on your guys too, then you will be in for a bad time. the time a stuka comes, its impossible to get more than 2 tanks, you are going to assume a rakentenwerfer and a schreck and 100% penetration is not good enough against a t34? i have shown how instant retreat dont save squads, even more so when there is no smoke or indicator where they are firing at. so to play allies i need to be professor x? the degree of error is almost 0 and the shells come down so fast, make the wrong guess and poof goes a squad. do it twice, it would have paid for itself. good luck facing players who plan attacks around the stuka and fires only on engagement, rather than blind firing into the fog. tell me how you are going to relocate your support teams when they are firing on something. it can launch nukes or v1 for all i care, or even do the space marine orbital strikes. thing is, it should not devastate troops like that, for balance purposes. then thats too bad, if they refuse to, the time will come when the crying comes back. it may seem okay now, 1 patch later, 2 patches later, thats difficult to say. i did warn with the elefant, same thing happened. honestly, i dont give a flying fuck if okw gets normal fuel or munitions back, or ability to build caches, with a little tweaks to unit buildtimes and effectiveness, heini. okw has always been infantry centered and mp is still the prime resource for them. tanks are there to support their infantry, not the other way around. flaktrack < AT guns, jadgpanzers/panthers/jadgtigers/kingtigers < flanking tanks and superior combined arms. i was referring to vcoh style of bombardment. thats the circular area + scatter that i meant. then tone down the aoe of each individual rockets to reasonable levels so the aoe dont cover the space of an idling squad. In: COH2 Balance |

i already said, no other indirect fire weapons can squad wipe like the stuka does. its a huge blow to lose ur squad in a flash. it is stupidity to stay in a zone bombarded by mortars and then lose your squad. thats the difference between stuka vs other artillery pieces. fuel and cost means nothing. isu152 has an immense cost, it is still overpowered, its ease of use and potential destructive power is still insane, but we will still use it because it is too effective. t34 is 100 fuel. will it do 50kills in a close game? never. but it gives great infantry support and prevent hordes of grenadiers from running over your own men. stuka should kill, but never in this scale. i will not complain if a stuka strike with 60 seconds cooldown, takes out 2-3 models per full hp squad with each strike, depending on the blob, more casualties. there's only 2 solutions, give stuka circular targetting and scatter like the other artillery pieces, or make katyushas fire like calliopes without pauses and more AOE on each rocket. panzerwerfers with more AOE per rocket and priest and field artillery guns to fire at 2x the speed of barrage with a smaller scatter. then the game would be horrible and the crying will be amazing.
