I might remember wrong but there was issues with priorities resetting when getting inside garrison. Outside of that it's possible.
Is your mod patch project still alive ?
I suppose I was asking less if it were "physically possible" and more if they might consider doing it, though you do make a good point there. The Raketen is subject to that issue. Is there no workaround to units in garrisons losing their priorities? |
We should be able to get them to work, otherwise I would be happy to ask you for help.
Thanks for inspiring some ideas, I hope they will make it to live.
Is it possible to give vehicles a similar "Forced Reload" ability? Units like the Ostwind, and basically any unit with an MG can be left in a position where they only have a few rounds left in a magazine/belt, and can then be left reloading at inopportune times.
I'm not sure if it's been suggested as well, but giving AT-equipped infantry a "prioritise vehicles" button, and units such as MGs a "hold fire" button, without them first needing camouflage. Sometimes it can be beneficial to allow an unit to get further into an arc before you begin shooting. |
Oversimplifications for the sake of being a passive aggressive shitbrick aside, it isn't that easy when there's always another MG42 around the corner beyond your units POV
Anyone can flank and outmaneuver an MG. It's when the MG is being spammed that makes the game frustrating and less punishing for the MG42 spammer early game.
If the OST player is "Spamming" MGs early on, he has very few actual troops available to cap points. MGs are not very mobile. |
Straight buffs to OKW and straight nerfs to USF. Yeah, cool. Totally cool. Thank for the abilities cooldown suggestion as vet for rifles. That'll be super useful for the massive amount of abilities that rifles have to use.....
What, grenades and AT snares? You don't think being able to use them more often is a good thing? This is a BUFF to Riflemen, they get their snare without having to vet for it, and in its place they get part of their current Vet3 bonus. |
Lol @ the axis bois who think the only precision rocket arty in the game is the worst one and the Calliope is too stronk
The fact it is "precision" is precisely the issue with the Stuka for the main role that Rocket Arty is expected to fill, which is blob removal. The Stuka is really only "good" at killing team weapons (less so for Soviet ones), it's far less effective against infantry, as it requires precise aim, and can be dodged by moving a few feet to one side (Assuming you predict correctly). It also lands slowly.
It's a good unit, but its role is drastically different to that of conventional rocket arty. |
Following that logic, you can always beat rifles by simply suppressing them or sitting in green cover before they do.
HMG42 doesn't have it bad in ANY way, unless user doesn't know any better.
Suppressing them is indeed the way you're intended to fight Riflemen. Sitting in green cover before they do isn't though, I'm reasonably sure they win a 1v1 against grens (particularly early) even if they have to close in on grens sitting in green cover. |
How? Wehrmacht has a lot of strong core units as is. The MG42 allows the ost player to lock down all the important regions of a map and maintain control, and there's little to counter that. It's kinda unfair
Any amount of smoke, or light vehicles, are enough to fight against MG42s early game. Every allied faction has access to one or both of these tools early on.
As are flanks, which can indeed be done against Ostheer MG42s, most 1v1 maps provide plenty of sight blockers and alternate routes to get around strong MG positions. |
It's not as bad for a short period of time but will definitely get stale after a while. You can have so many games of 2x T3485s vs Tigers.
The key aspect is that the game improved over time is closing the gap between meta and non meta. There's a difference between being slightly disadvantaged and almost auto lose.
This is one of the few points i'll argue they could had try a different approach.
Snipers are problematic on their own and the 2 man was a way to discourage sniper wars. I would had kept the 2 man squad model but make it so that the spotter always transfer their non sniper weapon for starters.
Alternatively, if you wanted a sniper "team" back merely for flavour, you could well just have the remaining model retreat from the battlefield like a depeleted weapons team, if one member of the sniper team dies.
I've heard it suggested multiple times that snipers be replaced by Light Infantry squads however. I kind of understand this suggestion, snipers are very frustrating units, and are extremely fragile. |
For many people (Myself included) Fun can only really be had when also winning. I do not find losing fun in the slightest, even if I'm "memeing".
This isn't universal, obviously. |
I wonder if you can just disable collision if a unit is already within a wreck. This already happens when two units enter one another, even if one then stops and becomes "solid", so I would like to hope it could be extended to wrecks?
I don't really see this being abusable. |
