These are easy fixes, tbh. Both abilities are fine as far as design goes, imho. Its just a matter of fiddling with numbers, until its just right.
Conscripts are as hard as onionskin as it is. |
Don't forget the fact that the tone of this game is darker.
Environments in vCoH were full of destroyed objects from everyday life (the infamous piano, for example, bathtubs) that gave the world some life, as well as a certain stylization.
In CoH2, the world is darker, grittier. The game is set in the darkest, most violent point of the war. The setting is cold, harsh and lacks all sort of human interaction: its rural, and desaturated.
I don't mind it. It doesn't have the same personality as vCoH, but it doesn't lack one. IMHO, the "dramatic" scenes in vCoH almost seemed comical and cheesy. Now, there's less of the uncanny valley, and more of the nasty things in war. |
So instead of flanking weapon teams in intricate dances that are interesting to watch and interesting to play, we're going to watch our retarded tier 1 mortar slowly (or very quickly) kill them as we sit behind a river and wait. Brilliant.
Which is why I have suggested that mortars be moved to Tier 2. I believe the game should start with direct small arms engagements first, then move on to advanced support and light vehicles, then on to medium vehicles and light artillery, and finally heavy vehicles, heavy artillery, etc.
Right now, Russian MG's can get mortared AND sniped in the first 5 minutes of gameplay.
The chokey maps also mean that MG placement is quite obvious, so positioning mortars is easy as hell. |
What a suprise, only russia Mod Didnt work. Unbelieveble Relic what u do with The EF-Modders. So much work for nothing??
1) Its not Relic's fault.
2) Relic DOES NOT give support for mods, and doesn't have to. No game company does. They encourage their creation, but the core game comes first.
As for the modder's work, I feel for them, but every modder must understand that there's risks involved when making a game (cease and desist orders, sequel burning your playerbase, server shutdowns, etc). Not all mods can be as durable as CS 1.6. |
Why has this not been suggested?
The new steam version is lacking a lot of features, and it might just turn into another room for trolling, but I'd love to see a CoH2.Org Chat channel in the vCoH lobby. |
I don't think they're going to be able to fix this one post launch, unless they change the entire replay system with a patch. Can they even do that?
-Spectator mode
-Something else that should be there anyway
-Something else that should be there anyway
Quinn said they've be looking into the possibility of expanding the Replay tolls post launch, so at least some measure of it must be possible. |
I won't be able to sign up, but I agree that I'd like to see the 2v2 format until 1v1 maps are more balanced.
Moscow would be a great option for a 2v2 match. |
Should be 4, because if you reduce the health/armor of the 6 men squad the MG/mortar will never fire. The main gunner will always get killed and the sync for the new gunner will take too long before he also gets killed.
You make a good point there. I hadn't thought of that.

btw, are you suggesting that cached points should be seize-able by your opponent? I don't know how much I'd like that, tbh.
Totally right. You can't decap OP'ed points, which turns my entir epoint moot. The upkeep system could still stand though.
I am not saying this can't be balanced, but instead of balancing a turtling playstyle, why not discourage it? there's a million ways of discouraging turtling tactics...
I think the intention was for players to "shape" the resource map at will and suit their strategies to their needs, buildings to their needs. I remember the very first criticism was: then I'll just build OP's near my base.
To be honest, I am notsure I like the new resource system. Sure, I've had frustrating moments in vCoH with that resource system, too, but usually it was because the opposing team knew the map better or utilized the environment to hold a valuable point better. |
@Kolaris: Great stuff!
Forget posting this on the murky sega forums. I suggest you PM Quinn directly; time's running low, and so this sort of stuff needs to be presented to the dev team asap.
Hells yeah. Blizzard really need tweaking, and they said they would be playnig around with intervals and durations. That is amazing feedback, in a great, professional format. Send it!!!!! |
