Earlier you made a good suggestion on how to handle the supposed T70 imbalance. But saying "dont use the PAK" seems unreflected. It's often and mostly the only AT you got at that point of the game. Sure, one could always get a PG Shrek Squad for ANOTHER 120 Munitions. But as we know it's easily kited even. When the opponent's attack is supported the PGs will draw all the fire in a supported combat situation.
I mean sure, pak can work out, but its still a very high risk. It is going to be very situational, how your pak deals with that T70 and in those scenarios the Soviet players has the battlefield advantage: He'll likely have more numbers and better mobility, so he will tend to choose those engagements.
Moreover, if you lose that pak, you are down 360 manpower, you risk giving a 40 manpower ATG to the enemy. This is exactly why I suggested equalizing the range of the T70 with the shreks: its the ideal counter for that stage of the game, but right now its very hard to put it too good use.
Really, the only thing I can think of against a WELL microed T70, is to stall until PIV. You can faust it and kill it, sure, but more often than not, you just removed a pebble form your shoe, but the damage is done. |
They are, but its not what decides whether your product is legally incomplete or not (ladders are a feature, not a requirement). That's all I meant.
By all means, an RTS without a ladder is considered subpar in basic features, and CoH2 is no exception. they need to include them. |
The biggest problem i see is its received accuracy. If it were able to be hit by things shooting at it , it would be counterable. But often(always) it dodges most AT gun shells then kills paks in 2 shots. Had a 2v2 yesterday where i had a 3 man gren squad, 2 paks and my teammate 1 pak. . They were all in targeting range of the t70 set up in a sort of triangle. The t70 came in head on 3 pak shots miss. I set up for a faust but the grens were dead before they shot. With 3 paks shooting at the t70, it manages to circle everyone of them killing all. It got hit once out of about 15 shots, the first pak, it circled it, killed it in one shot boom dead. Drove head on to pak 2 which had missed like 5 shots by this point and kills it in 2 shots. 3rd pak finally gets a hit after shooting at the t70 from the first time it appeared. The t70 takes that shot and laughs, drives head on then around the pak... 2 shots dead. It then proceeds to follow the retreating mgs and mortar squads to base and wipes them out before they get there..............
So how do you deal with something that was programmed to be immensely difficult to hit whilst it has 100 percent accuracy vs your low man squads?
Don't use paks. They are useless. Other than that, RNG may have played you a bad hand. They are hard to hit (because they are fast), but they can't shoot straight if they are on the move.
Thing is, even when on the move, their scatter was reduced, so even when they miss, they might damage something. The problem is not their armor or speed, its their damn lethality. |
Penal Battalions with flamers are also great vs PG's and G43-grens.
Indeed. Flamer weapons deal AOE damage, and Pgrens tend to be bunched up (because they are always on the move). The only problem with flamers, is that the units holding them are usually very fragile.
Supported though, they are amazing. |
Then imo they should ask for their 60 bucks back...or at least half of it. Hell I want half my money back and I've played enough to be at like lvl 68 or something.
It simply, from front to back, is not a finished product. Forget balance issues, the technical issues and complete regression from the first game in terms of lobbies, matchmaking, rankings, etc warrant this game as bargain bin material at best.
Good concept. Horrible, awful, shameful execution.
Because YOU didn't like it though. Because it didn't tickle your fancy. Don't get me wrong, I agree lacking ladders and other stuff is subpar, but its not a legitimate reaosn to demand my money back. They didn't promise ladders, and I knew there weren't going to be ladders by the time we were in open beta. They didn't "lie" to me.
Wether those people should get their money back is between them and the store. It has onthing to do with whether the game sells well or not. Its not like they pulled a friggin' Simcity |
The Blitzkrieg Doctrine is now available, which basically replaces Ambush with Relief Infantry and Light Artillery Barrage with Tiger call-in.
Early G43 and late Tiger? Yes please!
Its a tricky exchange though. The Tiger brings the much needed tank power to the jaeger infantry version, but its still a mid-late game doctrine (2cp's being the earliest you get anything).
Its better than jaeger, no doubt. |
Based on this chart it appears to have better dps than the Sturmgewehr 44 both close and far as well.
The problem is, only 2 of your men have G43's. PG's all carry Sturmgewhers. The advantage of the G43 is both its increased damage, and its icnreased accuracy and range to the kar98.
Ambush is a waste of munitions. Yes, you can pull of a pretty trick or two with it, but most of the times, you need to keep moving. If you aren't, then you are already winning considerably and didn't need it in the first place. The damage bonus needs to be increased.
Tactical Movement is a waste of 40 munitions. Yes, you can speed your troops around, but I'd much rather save those munitions for two fausts and support my tanks, than waste it on moving faster around the map. I remind you: conscripts get this ability as well, and precision guided (they choose which conscripts).
If you have 40 free munitions, then you didn't buy those flamer pios, you probably: didn't upgrade that Flame HT, you didn't upgun that Scout car, you didn't get those G43's and you didn't get that lmg42. All of those upgrades are needed in some way or another, they multiply your troops efficiency, and they persist in the battlefield. Tactical movement just makes you run. |
Lack of lobbies prevent people from playing multiplayer compstomps BIG TIME.
But we are talking about sales here, not product quality or active players. You could have 3 active players, and have sold 10 million units.
Also, just because the peak activity was 21000, doesn't mean there's ONLY 21,000 people. You could add another 50% of that based on timezones, at least.
If the game sold "well", then that could warrant enough of a reaosn to make an expansion pack, regardless if the game makes Twitch frontpage or competes with SC2 and LoL.
Single player and Compstomps are what saves this game, moneywise, not us. What we give to the game is long term playability. In fact, a lot of hardcore players are the ones complaining about the product and NOT buying it. The casual dude scrolling through Steam Store never having played vCoH? Thats a target, too. |
This could be great, but i think relic wants big moneys
You can make money out of just about everything. Its dependent on how creative you want to get, and how much work you want to put into it.
Relic's big opportunity for DLc's is in unit customizability (skins, models), custom campaigns (TONS would pay $10 for an Ostheer mini campaign) and Theater of War scenarios (limitless possibilities here). |
None of the new commanders are OP. Of the Ostheer ones, the only one that could be midldly effective is the Armored one (Elefant,+ hull down+ commander tank +defensive smoke? yes please).
Other than that, the rest are situational. Mechanized is okay, but there are better Soviet ones. Same for germans. |
