Right now, Axis can easily disfuse Alies heavy tank play by using panther. The advantage of Alies Heavy aren't justified the price tag over own strength against stock unit like Panther.
A great Example is M26, its perfomance power compare to Tiger is only around 90% at max vet + combine arm, the adavantage of AI couldn't make M26 in actually high ground. Dont forget repair tax still a pain in an ass. Meanwhile Axis build 2 Stug, 1 Jadpz4 or 1 panther ( with this timeline, they already have Pz4 which domminated M4 ). USF has to pay more mirco, economy, limmited of choice but cant have the same power as Axis.
That why less and less heavy tank play from alies right now.
Very few fights happen in the vacuum of 1v1, so it is more often like rak or pak 40 and Panther vs Heavy with AT and a tank destroyer. Panther has to dive to deal damage and when you die the tide can change very fast, because you rarely have full information while diving. Otherwise it is just poking from a 50 range from what you can get you faced full of armor piercing rounds.
I think there should be a discussion if some heavies are worth the cost and pop cap, but not if heavies should win in a static 1v1 fight vs a tank destroyer.
I agree its to strong but that last battle in no way makes a good case. Inca picked Rifle company, right when he picked that at around 11-12 minutes I knew he was gonna lose. Most of that company is made redundant by the Sturmtiger and he has nothing to force the enemy to him. I feel like that game highlighted how mediocre the E8 and Rifle company is.
Mines/fighting position is useless against sturmtiger since it can destroy one easily and mines wont be placed on his side late game due to fear of wipes. Never made halftrack which shows how pointless it is and The E8 has to get within range of Sturm to fight, and for the people who say use focus gunnery he didn't use it from what I saw.
He picked the best flanking tank. Higher health them M4C, versatile and with pretty good penetration for a medium. Seems like it was calculated decision. Personally I have no idea what commander could have done better job. Maybe Urban with zook rangers and smoke/sprint? Still imo ST won the game.
Also couple commets behind I posted a cast of Jibber vs top 50 OKW and in that match ST got 80 kills.
So lets say a unit has RA of .7 and vetted JLI shoot at it has 112% accuracy? That is crazy, even behind cover it would be 101%.
My biggest issue with Sturm is the moving while reloading, it allows player to be fairly aggressive with unit due to loss of drawbacks it once had. I haven't really played team games in a while due to toxic players but in 1v1 it does seem fairly easy to deal with once you know it is built.
Maybe give it heavy tank pricing so it is a lot harder to replace and field with other costly units.
All I'm saying that accuracy is not the same as chance to hit. And JLIs need vet 3 to get their accuracy boost.
ST is capable even in 1v1. There are several replays with very effective ST use, one of them is from Semifinal, where ST basically won the game for Kimbo.
Sniper rifle can insta-kill model with less than 75%(60) health.
Fun fact: Sniper rifle has higher than 100% accuracy at long range for some reason(IIRC 120 somerhing) and has 0.9 modifier over cover(compare to normal 0.5 modifier), so any shot fired from sniper rifle at long range is guaranteed to hit.
So yes... There is the reason. I honestly think JLI avoided rework simply because OKW is a bit underperforming(and WM overperforming so nobody would choose OKW un tournament) in 1v1 ATM.
It's not 100%, but 1.15 (1.61 with vet). AFAIK it multiplies by target's RA and after it you get chance of hit.
And this is the problem with like half the playerbase. Anytime someone says something is OP, a bunch of people come whining about the closest thing on the opposing side they can think of
One of my teammates complained about ST in chat yesterday. The guy who was using it said "just get AVRE". Our team had 2 soviet players and 1 USF. Critical thinking skills 10/10
Like maybe the AVRE is dumb too? I wouldn't know, since I literally never see it or use it
How would anybody know, if he has 10:1 ratio of games of his fav side vs the other side, when he thinks that anything that has the opposite side is automatically better then what your side has :/ Just take a look at he "Pathfinder" thread and see that there are people that seriously think JLI < Pathfinders. I guess that is just a "special minority", but it is kind of annoying.
Yet those counters cant prevent inf squads at guns etc from getting one shotted from the fow. Just because there are counters doesnt make the st fine. There have been many abilities nerfed/removed despite their being counters in the past.
Ram is a recent example and still op cuz it excist according to some, mines being locked at 2 models per squad to prevent full squad wipes with little to no effort (wich is what the ST and avre are) from long ago. And obviously the demo nerf wich needs no explenation.
Yesterday I charged with ST towards 2 USF AT guns and TD in 2v2, wiped one of AT guns and retreated. That match SOV guy went with Urban Doctrine and didn't even bothered recrewing his 2 45mm AT guns after they got one shotted, lmao. Enemy team was pretty civil, but they still were a bit salty in the chat about ST performance. And of course my OKW teammate mentioned AVRE xD
And the other day ST allowed me to go toe to toe with ~100 rank USF. This unit is stupid and need emergency patch. No idea what balance team is waiting for. Won't be surprised if they think that the unit is fine :/
Every shot there is 1/3 chance it will do nothing, that's huge in a fight where your atgun is going to shot 3 or 4 times before disengagement. We're far from unlikely or we have a different definition of unlikely. Does unlikely means every single game for you? And I'm not only referring to my own experience, I see plenty of it in every game OKW/USF I watch.
Then veterancy shouldn't be a fix for basics such as fighting a medium tank with an Atgun.
Cmon, man. Zis has less chance to pen at range of 60 then M1 with that ability at 70 range. Also don't forget that M1 has crazy fast ROF and huge cone of fire.
P4J is considered 'premium' medium tank and costs accordingly. I see no issues here.
