It can still keep the identity of a high armored durable beast. It doesn't need 375 armor for that though when Axis tank destroyers have either low penetration (JP4/StuG) or low range (StuG) / DPM (Panther). ~340 armor would still be a lot higher than the Tiger I's, at least relatively (lower pen weapons firing at it). While giving Axis more viable options (increasing the effectiveness of Jagdpanzer IV / StuG / Panther) to fight it than only the Tiger I.
Not to mention it has gotten a significant firepower increase (against both infantry and vehicles) so it's much more well rounded now, and doesn't need overcompensatingly (and unhealthy) high armor anymore. High armor will be good enough.
Where are axis anti tank guns?
Where is axis infantry?
Do you see these massive empty unprotected flanks on left and right of the map?
Where was SCAS?
You know when units are uncounterable?
When you don't build counters to them, or have counters on other side of the map, as evidenced by that vid you gave as "proof".
Where are Atg?
Costs constrain, KV8, IS2, Incendiary..and..much easier to get decrew by Allies infantry with their dps fire on move...katsuya... pak howie...Pak slow ass reposition vs incoming tanks...
Sorry i doubt paks will the day since pak are easy targets.
The main show is how easy for 60Td to just walk in and clear Axis 'heavy armor' tanks these days.
Low risk high rewards.
This the 2v2 i keep experience with 60Td.
So frustrating you cant fight back cos you are as so short.
I think the upgrade is mostly fine, the implementation is fun and unique. Given how (probably slightly over-)effecient it has made the Soviet late game, I'd probably just tone down either the reinforcement cost reduction (from 17 to 18/19) or decrease/remove the cooldown bonuses.
It is not fine. If you watched the games, the 7 man upgrade comes about 15+min mark and the squads were quite vet up. Meaning stock cons are more than enough to hold their own without the upgrade. People just didnt try them enough. At least top players showed cons are viable, even without ppsh upgrades!
Leaving the upgrade as it is, or a pity 1 cost nerf OR decrease bonus. Means Grens stay at clear losing ends late game. Like how much to reinforce grens? Their lmg is worthless against cover Cons. Lmg worthless chasing squads. 7man are much easier to stay alive and will eat fresh grens for brekkie. Rifle nades are like scratch against Sov squads.
The meme was that was ALL cons could do. Grens still have their LMG that allows for long range support fire and the nade that does the same. As for the lmg... Imagine that but not even having the lmg and relying on the exact same rifles they started with and nothing else... That's the problem, or was anyways.
Mainline units are not the same as 222 (who if it survives can still shoot down planes and provide Los) bren, aec (who still has smoke and its snare) T70 (who can recon, cap and munch infantry) mainline infantry are SUPPOSED to work all game. Cons are not supposed to be an early game unit they are supposed to be an all game unit, and now they are. Previously they were not.
We have to disagree then.
Late game cons provide pretty much the type of ancillary support as you listed. Sov has good callin to supplement as designed. As people now see, put cons behind their sandbag and we good. With vet 7man they god. You can save the callins a bit more. Besides we have doc to equip cons with further goodies.
Btw by mg42, i meant the weapon team. Virtually worthless against vet infantry and or late game tank/arty
Some would say grens fall off late games and their faust is a meme too. I would add mg42 a big victim of late game fall off.
Vet Cons before 7man still contribute late game, just less people tried it, tried to vet them. But we dont expect them to go from start to end.
Its the same thing as vet 222,bren,aec,t70 even p4 v 60td. Early units window gets smaller as the match goes. Contributions get more utility less game winning
Now with 7man, they become too good for costs and out last early stock infantry.
Imo only usf and ukf we expect their stock infantry to scale early to late games. By their faction designs
I don't see anything contrary to my views. You can't stall till late games if cons are so bad. Especially against top players.
Tell me about losing vet squads, this is the pain i spoke before about wehr 2v2 pov. Besides easier to get wiped 4man squad. Lmg grens are pretty much rekt against vet allies. So do pgrens. At least sov get strong callin infantry and you just need a cheap lone cons to provide utility in such loss scenario.
Of cos right now sov late game consists of 7man durability behind cover with utility, heavy armor to push and take hits, while cheaper 60td to snipe consistently and/or cheaper 76 to throw and disrupt.
The costs of axis units simply cant catch up.
Sov is good case of power creep, retaining strengths while upping their intended weakness
