Thread: Vickers need suppression 8 Mar 2019, 08:11 AM The building thing is a trashy gimmick. Houses quickly become death traps as games progress, trenches are not much better, and the MG setup/teardown time is just begging for a squad wipe. Stukas love it! The bonus building range vet ability is bad. It replaces what could otherwise have been a useful veterancy ability. By all means, slap it on anything you fancy. Terrible veterancy aside, I'm perfectly happy gutting the danage on it. I don't buy a MG for modest DPS when my sections already are the second most expensive T0 infantry. HMGs are suppression tools abd the vickers damage output makes it actively worse at that, which is awful. In: COH2 Balance

Its a small and incomprehensive test, but the results should surprise nobody, and JLI remain broken. Would be good to have a sample size of a hundred each. Got a few days to spare..? In: COH2 Balance

Which is why Cav Rifles are 1cp and they need another 70mu to get their Thompsons. Both upgrades take time. By the time its all in place you should have fausts in place. But people also need to learn to defend their weapon teams and hammer retreat promptly if units are caught out of poaition by 470mp and 115mu on wheels. That said, if you went for a 4th or 5th volk squad asap, perhaps you don't. You traded more early presence for less upgrades and a WC will punish that. Still can't drive into OKW bases, though. Something the brits are hideously jealous of. The Axis half track (either of them) can also be used to ambush HMGs and pop out to nick it. At vet 1 they can even use the open topped one to reinforce. Thread: USF Jeep5 Mar 2019, 16:47 PM The 155 arty is cost inefficient for what it does and the mark target is only an accuracy buff + loiter. Both of them have very little use early game but allow the unit to offer a supporting role late game. The kubel should be given something more, rather than stripping away from the Jeep. The new axis halftrack is similar - it gets to be a reinorce point, bunker down, move mortars in the late game to stay relevent. Of course the Kubel compares poorly, but the average kubel survives ten seconds and desperately needs some late game utility if it ever wants to see the light of day late game. CoH2 is all about squad preservation. Units that sharply depreciate in value aren't condusive to that. The Jeep is - early game, but needs MU to upgrade (no gun until a few minutes in) and retains some usefullness late game rather than being a worthless popcap sink. Unsure why it's 0 fuel, though. Surely it should be 5 or 10. In: COH2 Bugs

The claim: "Scott's barrage is generally useless one" as I pointed is simply false, now pls move on. Slip on the wording, but I stand by the point. The Scott barrage is in most situations worse than direct fire. Allow me to make you aware of some changes then, because you are simply wrong: May 2018 MORTAR CHANGES A number of general changes have been applied to a number of light indirect-fire options to reduce their squad wipe potential, improve anti-garrison counterplay, and reduce their range in the late game. • Damage to garrisoned squads increased from 0.25 to 0.5 • AOE near damage multiplier decreased from 1 to 0.85 • Veterancy barrage range bonuses replaced by barrage scatter reduction for the majority of light indirect fire options. Missed that, but in retrospect I probably should have figured it. Full health squads eating dirct shells spring to mind. I was always of the impression the mortar had the damage reduction against cover, rather than built in to the shell itself. A concession but not an important one. Mortars are a bit worse against models in open ground than I thought, but the scott being where it is still sits fine with me having used it, MHTs and Pack Howitzers routinely. In: COH2 Balance

If in you opinion barrage UP compared to auto-fire saying "barrage is useless" does not convey that message... I personally find the barrage better than TWP that Stug-E has. I said relatively useless for a reason, and I stand by it. Relative is a qualifying term. I will rarely if ever need a Scott barrage but the SU-76 barrage (which I was comparing it to at the time) allows my TD to also fill an AI and Anti Blob role that the unit would otherwise be hopeless at. The barrage is not usually worthwhile because it cannot track targets and unlike units alsuch as the Brumm the shells are not blasty enough to constitute proper area denial for moving infantry. Check your stats the majority of mortar (if not all) have a kill radius 0. In addition Scott is able to hit moving targets while mortars can not, it is simply superior. As far as I am aware the only mortar this is even nearly true for is the T0 american, which was explicitly brought down from near AoE 1 to 0.75. They all still do 80 damage. In: COH2 Balance
