Grens and volks, the one where volks have slightly less accuracy and less damage but have an extra model... That one... And again, upgraded volks don't matter. If you are seeing vet 2/3 cons and don't have an army of stg volks you are asking to lose. If you see ANY cons and don't have STGs you are not playing you are trolling. Cons only have that vet because without it they have nothing at all, and even then, if they have to replace a cons squad they are way on the back foot where replacing a volks squad can be brought mostly up to snuff with a simple munitions expenditure. You can hardly talk about unuograded volks vs vetted cons as if that is realistically even a scenario when STGs come long before vet 3 cons do.. The difference is minimal, especially because volks have a different starting durability. Grenadiers starts scaling far better with their much better veterancy. It matters to the discussion, since some people are saying that unupgraded volks win over cons In: COH2 Balance

And if Cons close range against Volks they obviously lose too due to losing models on close up. Heck even if they did beat them STG upgrade makes Cons redundant as they simply lose in every situation, which is why everyone goes Penals vs OKW anyway. False and false, cons fight even better at longer range due to better accuracy, closing in is nonsensical and the first thing to do is take cover to max out durability. Cons were meta in GCS2 with 520 units built compared to only 260 penal battallions. In: COH2 Balance

There's no slighly less accuracy or less damage, reworked cons have the best accuracy of bolt action rifles (unless i remember section one wrong). 0.757 to 0.556, is better than any bolt action rifle 12 damage is the same as volks When vet 2-3 RA and accuracy bonuses kicks in, unupgraded volks of any veterancy have no chance In: COH2 Balance

Usually I tend to leave 1 VG squad without ST44 in case I come up to a dropped weapon. I was simply pointing out that their vet bonuses are not that great any more. Actually I would test removing the ST44 upgrade and improving their veterancy. It would also fit them thematically since they represent a mix of green and experienced troops. Volksgrenadier division standard 10 men fireteam were issued with 2 of either G43, STG or Mp40. They were pretty much known for enphasizing the use of automatics. In: COH2 Balance

Volks have gren DPS, weapon prifle and 20% higher squad health, so its pretty much one sided fight by a long shot, unless cons get lucky and snipe 2 entities fast, which is unlikely. However that would open up the potential of the Obers losing their MG34 but gaining a Panzerschreck, or 2, similar to the Panzergrenadiers since I think the OKW is currently lacking in the AT department because while the raketen is available right from the get go, it's largely underperforming. Of course if the Obers gain the Panzerschreck(s) then they would need to be moved down in terms of tech and would overlap with the Sturmpioneers. So the only question is what to do with the Sturms then, do they remain only with their minesweeper upgrade or do they get something extra? I think that un-burdening them of being the OKW's AT infantry is an option but then again so is just giving them a flamethrower as well or something. Maybe a demolition specialist upgrade? I don't know really, just throwing ideas out there. That means that every 4 volks an elite infantry squad has been called in/built. And that doesn't even consider the 240 mg34 that surely shows that volks alone rarely work against allies infantry. Besides, with your last statement you are implying that stg-less volks can put a fight against penals and cons ppsh, which is wrong. GCS2 showed that soviets are the strongest faction, being the only one with >50% win rate in any matchup, and that surely volks aren't an issue. In: COH2 Balance

However the firefly starts at 200 damage a shell and goes up to 240 at vet 3 which not only makes it good vs 800HP+ tanks to start with but can 3 shot standard 640HP mediums at vet 3. The JP4s "first strike" damage bonus only works when it enters combat (and maybe is required to be cloaked?). So you get a 200 damage shot on shot #1, then 160 damage shells for the next 3 for example if you're shooting at a 640HP medium. So the extra 40 damage doesn't do anything; it still requires 4 shots to kill 640HP mediums, but boosts total damage to 680 over 4 shots. There isn't a single armor piece at 680HP in the game. Sad how lazy the balance team has been in implementing several changes. In: COH2 Gameplay
