I find it helps to keep glancing at the unit readout in the top right corner during an engagement. If anyone has the combat icon flashing and looks low, I click 'em, hit the retreat hotkey and go back to what I was doing without even moving the camera. The audio warnings can help but they're too unreliable to rely on. In: COH2 Gameplay

Solves the timing issue, solves the tech issue, adds a drawback (can't deploy other tanks while it's building, obviously.) Because it would be difficult to implement? Is it really even? Can you CP lock a buildable unit? If not, that's one explanation. In: COH2 Balance

Techless rushing aside, 13 CP heavies were never the same problem because each player would have two or three medium tanks by that point. Heavy tanks need delaying somehow in 1v1s without making them too late in team games. Maybe the answer is build time? Add them to the tech buildings directly, but they take a long time to manufacture? In: COH2 Balance

A similar design could easily apply to Super heavies. They're designed to be weak relative to Volks, which are units that start strong but scale badly. As for applying this to heavies, I think it'd exacarabate the problem. If a heavy needs to accumulate veterancy to be effective, players are going to deploy it as quickly as possible so it can do that before it's facing vetted tank destroyers. Given heavies being rushed all the time is the entire problem, I don't think this'd help. In: COH2 Balance

What I would change about mortar smoke would be the time from ordering smoke and the time it actually lands. For me is simply way to low making mortars even more unattractive. It substantially reduces micro. Currently, in order to perform a sustained barrage you need to reissue the smoke order at the exact moment the barrage ends, meaning the mortar needs constant babysitting during an engagement. If the smoke was a toggle, you could order a mortar to smoke an area at the start of an engagement (such as an enemy emplacement or MG position) and just leave it to it. That'd make the slow mortar smoke much less of an issue. In: COH2 Gameplay

But they're still viable at low vet. The power spike of Panzerfusiliers is in their weapon upgrade, not their veterancy. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Toggled Mortar Smoke13 Jan 2020, 15:37 PM The smoke cooldown on pretty much all standard mortars matches up with the duration of the barrage. If you constantly pay attention to the mortar, you can indefinitely smoke one area. Given this is already a thing, what about making the mortar's smoke barrage work like attack ground? You tell it to fire smoke at an area, and it'll keep firing smoke at that area until you tell it to stop. The cooldown then triggers when you deactivate the smoke barrage, meaning it now takes time to reposition your smoke cloud. In: COH2 Gameplay

The IR scanning effect has a bug where units become visible on the tacmap permanently. Consequently, it's banned in tournaments. The Valentine's IR scanning was removed to make it tournament legal. You have to have 2 of them to really see any difference in the combat preformace of the sqaud One BAR is enough to outgun an upgraded Volks squad at all ranges. In: COH2 Balance
