Well, the only time i've gotten this error is when I changed a file with notepad++ while the editor was on to try and add a unused flag back in. Do you have any other programs running, or modifying the files while the editor is on? |
So, i still can't modify .sga files, for example, to create portraits pack compatible with vanilla game?
Well, i know you can replace the .sga's with old versions from the game. I replaced art_high with the version that came out right after WFA, and that fixed all the infantry animations (barring brits). I tried taking the current one and swapping them out, but corsix only supports the older versions for coh1. You could try asking eliwood, janne, or another COH wizard for help. |
How the bloody hell did you get this? Good bloody work! Can finally get a good look at the old un-nerfed ai and squad-ai. Is there any way to put it on a site other than mega? I really dont want to download their app crap.
As for modding it, yes, you can do attribs pretty easily just by looking at the files with corsix, and then copying that to the new attrib editor. It might take awhile but thats the only way besides replacing all the existing archives, as far as I know.
To Osinyagov - There were no 2013 mod-tools, and the only way you could mod the game back then was old methods using corsix and such. |
A few outlandish ideas;
1. Enable full moddability, remove the restrictions on the tools and the game.
2. Add squad-ai and the old formations back into single-player/comp-stomp, so it doesn't look so boring.
3. Add old, unused abilities back in to reduce the amount of commander-ability overlap.
4. Reduce accuracy of units across the board, in order to give more emphasis to cover and good positioning. |
Nice that you agree with me the Stalingrad point, is nice to have suggestions, the problem is that some players want the same map designs to apply his own strategy in every map. For example, people want to use JLI in every map, if there is a map that JLI is not good, that map is "bad designed" or bad balanced, allied/axis favored and etc. Maps like Stalingrad would amplify the strategies and some commanders might be useful in a niche scenario.
This. |
I never thought Stalingrad was a bad map. Creates the feeling of "Urban Hell" pretty decently with all the narrow roads, low line-of-sight and short-range engagements, but I dont have much of an eye for balance so take that with a grain of salt.
I think not having a map called Stalingrad, in a game that was about the eastern front, in the public map pool, is a bit stupid. So however you plan to "fix" it, as long as it gets it back into automatch, im down. Just try not to make it too symmetrical and/or remove all the strong-points, too much balance can get a bit boring. If you want to get rid of all the LOS stuff like every other automatch map, try to only do it on half the map. Leave the other half a rubble-strewn destroyed wasteland that only smgs have a hope of winning in. |
The Cocaine Commander - Teammates who, not so respectfully, order everybody around/spam a catchphrase at the round start, and then start raging and team/base killing as soon as a single point/unit is lost. |
When coh3 rolls around or is cancelled can we get full mod support implemented?
Yeah thats a good question. Any answers to this? |
Name: IAC
Description: Overhaul/Cinematic improvents. Main goal is to bring back features that have been removed and/or forgotten, re-intgrating as much unused content as possible and providing a safe haven for casual players. Slightly increases the realism/damage, with many more possible criticals and higher overall range/damage, but not to the extent of spearhead and other such mods.
Current team: 1
Looking for: Testers and balancers.
Name: Cold War Catastrophe
Description: Spin-off of IAC. Overhaul into late 50's/early 60's warfare, east vs west. Main goal is to provide a cool new experience, without rehashing most of the ww2 stuff. Integrates the cosmetic/world features of IAC, without the focus on as much content as possible. Keeps CoH2's damage system for the most part. More streamlined, to feel more like a new game, not a mod.
Current team: 1
Looking for: Testers, historical researchers, mappers.

You can use corsix's old mod tools to browse RGD files, albeit in a slightly broken state. Currently, in order to get the original 2013 stats, you would have to have the retail disk version of the game and extract that. The oldest version online is just after the western front armies was released, in early 2014.
