There are, but they dont show up/are bugged. They only work on leader-boards/custom games. Personally I think that's a good thing, prevents match drops from the less patient players. |
You want to make sure the "alternate_sua" is set to the original path of the vehicle, so it can get the normal collision and model data. That should fix that bug you were talking about. |
Usually this is because you've added a file/file-type thats locked off by the tools/game. Boot up the game and start a custom game, go into the mod list, then close the custom game and exit the game. Then, check the warnings.log for errors or warnings. There's a good chance it'll tell you what it doesn't want to load there. |
Good guide. However, I swear I did a list of SP/Ardennes assault abilities for this aswell. Seems it didnt make it. |
For many, CoH1 is better than CoH2, having more content and no microtransactions. If you want a extremely good single-player experience, with some basic multiplayer after that, go for it. There's not really any reason to get legacy, as the new one is the same game but with working multiplayer. |
Both center points look like they could use a overhaul. Having any points on a island is generally a no-no, especially very important VP points. You always want to have at least three ways at each angle (sort of like a triangle) that all types of units can use to get to that point, in order to provide flanking opportunities. Then, maybe have couple of smaller paths for infantry. |
Very noice, good-looking, and of course well written article. I dont know how much time you spent on this, but it was worth every day. However, I would say you forgot a few major things;
1. Modding. If CoH3 is locked off like CoH2 expect the game's lifespan to be very short. The locked-off modding of coh2 is the main reason i've nearly quit the game.
2. Expand on the casual stuff - Things like wounded soldiers, vehicle crits, squad-ai, etc. I dont mind if thats all taken out of competitive/multiplayer like in coh2, but keep it in casual/singleplayer.
I feel like the line between CoH and other rts games is being blurred, especially due to competitive players constantly yelling about balance. Over the years, CoH2 has been neutered to the point of nearly being a Dawn of War game, compared to CoH1. The biggest thing is not losing what makes CoH special, and that is, at least I think, is being a playable war-movie. I think with some of the recommendations you've made, there NEEDS to be a casual and competitive mode, similar to TF2 and other games. |
You'll have to take a look at the speech files, and look at the paths. Only voices from that faction can be used when you're playing as them. Example; you can only use the grenadier voice if you're playing as wehrmact, etc. Look for the 3 letter codes at the start of each voice, that'll tell you what to put in the speech codes in the squad_ui ext. |
For the dead links that lead to the good ol' relicnews, you can use web archive to get those links back. |
Cant do so for CoH2. For CoH1, you would have to convert your sound effect into an smf, and put it in the right directory. |
