I don't think the elephant is OP. I think Jaeger armor doctrine is OP with scopes and stuka added to the powerful elephant. Elephant amazing in team games because 90% of the time the opponents don't work together to take it down. A flanked elephant is a dead elephant.
In 3s and 4s this problem just compounds.

Actually Ostwind with hull down damaged t34/85 FRONT ARMOR, and i think more than 50% of his shots.So funny cause i put ostwind near VP and when i won the game i had more vehicle damage with hull down ostwin than his infantry damage.I laughed so much.Ostwind damaging enemy vehicles better than enemy infantry. |

Those two game modes are lost anyways, there are structural flaws that will never allow decent balance. The problems are:
1) maps are too large, meaning infantry play usually becomes obsolete at some point, it encourages blobbing and factions with a forward retreat point have a massive advantage in terms of infantry play
2) too many units on the field, which means that it is really hard to keep track of what's happening. With more players/units, unit preservation gets way harder. Also, more units = more cheese.
3) resource income is totally broken, gaining like 50 fuel or 70 ammo per minute leads to spam of tanks (which makes infantry obsolete) and call-in arty/loiters. In those categories the axis usually have an advantage, when one side brings elefants/JTs plus stuka bombs en masse, while the other side has to rely on comet spam and cancer cover.
Imo these points lead to difficulties in balancing those game modes. These modes should be seen "for fun" when you play with friends. I dont understand why people would play those modes on their own, maybe because they like those huge battles of attrition, dont know.
I play 3vs3 and 4vs4 because compared to 1vs1 and 2vs2, it matters more the strategy than the tactics.Sure in smaller mode you can flank more, but you can also lose if you just don't pay attention to a vet 3 grens,rifleman squad.I like tactics but if i really want only tactics i would play Battlefield.I play bigger game for the strategy cause you need to know what to expect,build and so one,if you don't build what you need at that right moment,then you lose.Also even if the games are more trench warfare, it let you think where you can flank,if is ok to lose 2 panthers to 2-3 jackons or firefly +some anti tanks.It's all about logic and a great plan,rather than just move some units and expect that guy to don't pay attention |
Well, I know that I don't play 2vs2 too much but in 3vs3,4vs4 they are good-great in cqb battles or areas.In liene forest, if you fight in the forest,they are great cause you can use smoke and throw some potato masher in their face.Actually if you put them in cover(I highly recommend ) somewhere at a maximum range of 10 they are pretty good,especially vs retreating infantry,team weapons and even vs Brits.You can just flank the brits,go behind them and see them perish.I don't recommend to use them in open maps.If you have a city map or forest,then they are great |
"will do fine it brummbar is unsupported" , why should it be unsupported ? Shreckers/pack will/should protect it and the Sherman or Jackson won go near it.

Well USF has mortar so his pak can be killed quite easy.You can flank the brummbar and he is dead.Use your rifleman smoke to flank from different positions and don't bunch rifleman otherwise you will be wiped |

Sturmpanzer IV "Brummbär" (Non doctrinal)
it's very hard to kill, can rape at-gun and infantry squad vet or not very easily.May have smoke escape.
Why ? (from Coh2 guide): By using the Attack-Ground command on the Brummbär, the tank will fire exactly where you click on the map. Use this to fire shells directly into the center of blobbed infantry and cause maximum splash damage.
USA have the Buldozer (Doctrinal) that share the same purpose, but is less durable.
UK have the Croc (doctrinal) Great unit.
The problem : it's non doctrinal.
Then use a MOVING tank.Sherman will do fine is brummbar is unsupported.It's great vs blobs,so maybe don't blob if you don't want to be wiped.I agree that poor USF AT doesn't stand a change vs brummbar but given the same resources,1 brummbar means 1 jackson.so you can kite him a lot. |
Their base accuracy/damage value is still a bit high for a T1 unit. 222/Luchs/AAHT? Well there is their AT super nade. They beat upgraded grens (60Munis/240MP/30MP Reinforce cost)and panzergrenadiers. And OKW is doomed against th SOVS anyway.
Their nade should be unlocked once they upgrade to PTRS. Also their accuracy/damage or ROF should be reduced.
This is a L2P.Go and test with cheat mode.I actually posted on coh2 official feedback forum that upgraded grens at long range,no cover or green cover, they will win if both of them have the same veterancy level.Panzer grenadiers are not ok to move them a lot.Put them in cover at medium range and they will always win.Actually I can win vs rifleman/IS squad with only 2 Pzgrens,1 mg,2 mortars in 3vs3 and 4vs4.You need to know how to put infantry in cover and don't rush them when you fight enemy squads in cover.Their AT capability is ok(poor stug iii g & e) and when they have ptrs,they are even worse at AI |
I disagree, allies have wat better starting positions and synergy than axis. Lose a sturmpio anf you lose it all. And any light tank will overrule the Pz2. The luch is too fragile for that. 2 bazooks, piats can deal with it just fine.
Actually the game was almost balanced 3-6 months before brits came,then everything was thrown away

The worst case scenario is when Allies faced in 4vs4 an Axis team composed of 1-2 OSTs and 2-3 OKWs, they covered all theirs weakness. It's where the 3 problematic factors (see above) matter the most.
Things I've spotted when playing 4vs4 random automatch:
If i go alone (in 4vs4), the matchmaking seem better, as teams seem to be composed of mostly single player. Rather even.
But, If i go as a team of 2-3 (in 4vs4), we mostly face whole teams of 4 all the time, so it's very hard to win.
P.S. Plz don't tell me to play 1vs1, i hate it. I'm a team/coop player type.
What about facing Allied AT?USF player spam infantry,rangers and so on,Soviet spam maxims and mortars(maybe zis) and usf player build vikers to mortar pit,bofors to comet.This is even worse than anything.Of course conscripts sucks but this is because they don't get a survivability bonus earlier than vet 3(same problem with grens) and another big problem are IS Received accuracy and Royal engineer(which for their cost can beat a sturmpioneer) |
