It was made bad vs meds and shifted from all round TD to a heavy tank specific counter. Its less effective post adjustments vs meds while its more expensive and risky, so its always better to get 2x 76 vs med Play then 1 85 which is no longer designed to fight them as effectively. Only reason to field 85 is against KT, Tiger or Panther. Su-85 is hardly bad vs mediums, actually the changes made more consistent since they greatly increased accuracy (x160%), increased rotation and give it smaller target size. Reload is higher but it has better chance to hit and penetrate even vetted PzIV. SU-85 Accuracy from 0.05/0.0375/0.25 to 0.055/0.045/0.04 Penetration from 200/190/180 to 240/230/220 Reload increased from 3.8/4.2 to 5.4. Target size reduced from 22 to 18 Rotation rate from 20 to 22 Cost increases from 340 manpower and 120 fuel to 350 manpower and 130 fuel. Veterancy two -30% reload modifier replaced with +30% weapon penetration modifier. In: COH2 Balance

RoF IS directly related to DPS and there is no other unit in game with DPS as high as StuG. The only thing keeping stug from not being one of the most batshit insanely op units in game is 50 range. You have panther for late game and PaKs for earlz and mid game, why do you need stug?(same reason why SU-76 exists and does what it does btw) There is literally ONE stock unit across all 3 allied factions that StuG does not easily penetrate and it costs more then twice what StuG does. To whine for SU-76 and not claim StuG is OP as well is a dictionary example of one sided bias and ignorance. Once more, DPS for ballistic weapon without a target size and armor means very little. The M1 ATG is a unit with better DPS than Stug (above range 20 ) for instance (vs target 1/1). stug_75mm_mp 2.26/2.11/1.96/1.81/1.66/1.51 m1_57mm_at_gun__mp 2.05/1.98/1.92/1.86/1.74/1.61/1.49 Imo stug is OP. Ostheer seem to survive in 3 stock unit that are op and in doctrinal units/abilities. Back on thread SU-76 is also OP. It's far penetration is too high, its barrage is too spam-able and XP value too low. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: MP40s Can OKW made it work or just Wehrmacht?15 Apr 2018, 09:05 AM Shock troops achieve max DPS at range 10 and lose most of their DPS at range 15. So one should try to have all models bellow range 10. Thompson's achieve max DPS at range 10 but lose most of their DPS at range 25. So Thompson are much more forgiving when it comes to finding the correct range. This problem start from the fact that bolt action rifles and semi automatic rifles have close range 0 and get better the closer one get to 0 meaning that smgs troops get the best DPS ratio at range 10 and gain little by closing in. Imo close ranges should be adjusted to something like smgs 0, assault rifles 5, carbine(semi auto) 8 bolt action 10. It may not ever actually penetrate, but it doesn't have to due to deflection. Sherman HE has no deflection damage. In: COH2 Balance

My advises for using them would be: Do not attack in open ground Either wait in ambush or use the smoke grenade Do not buy MP40 for many squads 1-2 should be enough Pair an MP40 VG so that the MP40 uses the smoke grenade to close in and the other VG uses his grenade. I like what COH2_Spearhead mod did about it. Give it a try and, especially, look at their reverse speed. It does but the situation was much worse in COH1 since their were less snare/mines and AT weapons need aimed time to fire that was reset every time the unit was pushed. One could literally drive up to AT infantry start pushing it and not be fire upon once. In: COH2 Balance

The American v wehrmacht matchup, the vcoh matchup, is kind of a different world. (And why tourneys were almost always vCoH.) The Pushing/crushing of tanks vs AT infantry in COH vanilla or expansion is actually very bad. Imo it was one of the worse issues. In: COH2 Balance

Just like the sherman has bonus accuracy on the move or the old obers had a modifier vs retreating squads. Unique characteristic applied only to the weapons in this upgrade. Thank you for the informantion tho. Maybe reduce the modifier to 0.7 if all 4 models got the IR stg? I was thinking (dont know if it would be even possible) to change up the IR stg and flare to something a little more balanced (team games) what about making it an IR flare (same effect as IR halftrack, info but not LOS) make it cheaper and buff IR STGs but not OP global counterable recon ripe for offmaps Don't mention it. Well you did ask if it a "flat buff" to squad and that would be a "extra" bonus modifier affecting all squad member and so my answer was mostly direct to that, since there no such modifier, it is different cover tables values as a number of other weapon have. The value result to less "penalty" in DPS vs cover compared to the standard, it is up to you to call it what ever you like, but I wouldn't call it "extra bonus". Imo a good solution for IS STG upgrade would be 5 IR STG (maybe a bit worse than PGs STG) increasing squad size to +1. The cover modifier could very small or even removed. I am not sure why people complain specifically about the OKW flare so much since there are number of other abilities available to other faction that provide los with no counter: UKF arty flares USF major Recon Soviet mortar/sniper flares Single recon passes The ability is strong basically if combined with "zeroing artillery" an ability that can be from OP to a waste of MU.
