Guys, i have the order of battle of the "Großdeutschland"-Division and would like to show it.
How can i post the picture here? I had to scan the page from a Phd-study and can't copy it in this post.
The order of battle shows some interesting stuff: The division had an Sturmpionier-Bataillon, so we could in theory also include the option that Sturms would be available in this doctrine.
You can upload it to a site like imgur and then link it here using the picture icons on the top left of the comment screen. |
The sturmtiger being something equivalent to a self propelled B4 arti really wouldn't be too crazy, especially since you can only troll with b4s anyway and usually only by having multiples.
Exactly, besides that it would make the Sturmtiger into an even more unique vehicle while fixing it's core issues and providing something which the Axis don't really have in their arsenal apart from mobile rocket artillery. |
"Present"
Wtf ? Lol
Just google Political Correctness, that should explain everything. |
All other projectiles do not have a 40 second manual reload. Neither do shells like the Brummbär's collide with objects as much because of various reasons. Either collision with yellow cover objects should be removed (a 380mm 376kg shouldn't have much trouble going through a wooden fence) or the random deviation on the rocket should be brought down so a player can actually aim the rocket past certain objects. Or make the trajectory much more of an arc.
If the arc is changed that will mean an even longer aim time, similar to the HM-38's round hitting the ground much later than the standard mortar shell.
That's why I keep bringing up that if such a thing is done it's better to just straight up make in into a self-propelled howitzer. |
And here's where I read about Leibstandarte, also known as the LSSAH, I won't mention the full name because of the present political climate: http://www.panzerace.net/the-waffen-ss/the-leibstandarte.html |
Thx for your feedback!
You are obviously right, the current version needs an ammo based ability and your idea of "extra training" can solve this issue. I would suggest that this training only becomes available for Pzgrenadiers / Grenadiers because they were the backbone of this division. They should not get the 5th unit upgrade but some other buff. Let us collect ideas here.
Edited version of "Großdeutschland doctrine":
1. Etra training (inf buff for Grens/ Pzgrens)
2. Counter attack tactics
3. Panzerfüssiliers (reworked - will help other commanders too)
4. Stuka zu Fuß call-in (8 CP)
• P4 H-Version call-in : Elite version of the P4 (Cp 8)
Here's the topic I recently read on GD: http://www.grossdeutschland2kpreenactors.yolasite.com/gro%C3%9Fdeutschland-history.php
The Panzerfusiliers, Halftracks and Tigers as well as the leadership of the Division are all mentioned here. |
i have few suggestion to your idea which i really like btw.
"Großdeutschland" was opieOP division in entire Wermacht. They acually had a lot of heavy stuff and they were bloody elite. So:
1. becouse that division was very experience i would add upgrade for infantry (pio, grens, pgrens) called "extra training" - something like german infantry already has: extra unique abilities for each type of infantry
2. To make the concept more unique i would suggest Panzerfuzzilier rather than assualt grens.
3. 250 sdkfz is 4th MP call in unit so should be replace with ammo ability.
I would prefer that Tiger to be more diffrent that ostheer version. So expect panzer tactician i would add a smoke shot like cromwell has, expect mg a panzer commander, and ambush camo ability (but cannot move). Generally idea is great.
GD also had Tigers as well, only a regiment had the honorary title of Panzerfusiliers, the rest were basically Panzergrenadiers so you idea of infantry training does sound good. GD was also known for it's leadership so perhaps an Artillery Officer would also fit the theme.
Alternatively the Panzerfusiliers could also come mounted in a 250. |
About the OKW -
Yesterday I had a match where my opponent tried to launch a Sturmtiger's rocket at my tank which was at a higher ground and failed to hit it.
Now I am not sure if the rocket actually hit an small object, as other people have pointed out already which prematurely detonates the rocket, or the rocket just hit the ground but I don't think the engine would be dumb enough to not calculate where you want the projectile to hit as to send it to that position without hitting the ground.
So unless this is fixed the Sturmtiger is rendered ineffective at least 50% of the time since you need to fire on flat ground without any obstructions in the way, which happens less often than so.
I again will suggest a lockdown ability to increase it's range and to circumvent this bug, unless the unit has the same problem of a low flying projectile similar to the raketenwerfer which causes it to hit the ground most of the time.
If not for a Tiger I E as suggested before I think at least a mechanized combat group of Panzerfusiliers inside an open topped 251 Halftrack might be a good alternative while the Sturmtiger is saved up for either Overwatch (somehow) or the new OKW commander that will come in December. This will solve the issue of the OKW not having a mobile reinforcement point while still being unique and also the need to change the Panzerfusiliers from basically a mainline replacement infantry unit to some sort of Recon/Elite infantry unit.
On the other hand Overwatch is a bit better now but still perhaps it's better to also combine Forward Receivers along with the Goliaths and Early Warning to free up a slot for the Sturmtiger, so a slot could also be opened up in Elite Armor.
I also wanted to mention that the Elite Panzergrenadier Division "Großdeutschland" had a Panzerfüsilier regiment, so using some inspiration from that could prove viable, that is in the use of Panzerfüsiliers and Tigers in the commander. |
Smartie's smart( commander concepts:
Wehrmacht Aufklärungsabteilung / Recon company
• Radio Intercept
• Kübel
• Ambush Camouflage
• Panzerfüsseliere call-in (Historically, Panzerfusseliers were included in the Aabt,)
• Puma (call-in)
Wehrmacht: Division "Großdeutschland" (it was the best equipped Division of the whole wehrmacht until 1943 and fought from 1941-1945 on the eastern front)
• SdKfz. 250 (version with MG)
• Counter attack tactics
• Assault grenadiers
• Stuka zu Fuß call-in (8 CP)
• P4 J-Version (OKW version, can be build at Support Armor Corps)
Wouldn't it make more sense for the P4 to be an H variant instead of the hand cranked turret version of the J? Maybe like the Soviet Red Banner T-34s that were scrapped it could just be an Elite version of the P4 featured as a call in. |
That's impossible to do because of the lack of animations sadly. |
