Is this option not viable anymore? It is still one way to go, but: - It requires significantly more micro than other forms of healing (placing the crates AND clicking on it) - It will chew up your munitions until you get the resources for the healing truck. The thing is that pre-patch: - Volksgrenadiers had everything on their platter for free - OKW kind of "deserved" to have their healing tied to a tier choice to balance this out Now: - OKW infantry is considerably less versatile than before - Their healing tier becomes more expensive - If you end up losing the truck, you are doubly-as fucked as before. It is way too early to say, yet since: - Bugs, everywhere - I need to l2p new OKW .. but I don't find it unresonable to decouple OKW teching from side-benefits. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Isu152 pen23 Jun 2016, 13:13 PM As numerous other people on this thread have remarked, ISU152 is in no way underperforming: - It performs its primary role as a long-range wipe machine admirably (although this is terrain dependent) - If you look at both Penetration (200-ish) and damage (240) at the same time, you will see that it can also double as a tank destroyer, if you need it to. @OP (Over)buffing certain already strong heavy-tank call-ins (this goes for all heavy tanks) won't necessarily make the affected faction more interesting to play as (or against). Instead, that may very well backfire and harm the strategic diversity of both the affected faction, and the diversity of the game (since OST/OKW will have to counter the buffed doctrines): - (if it isn't already) overbuffed wunderwaffen doctrines will become auto-pick commanders on the right modes (call-in cheese for 1v1, long-range vet-wipers for 4v4) - In order to stay competitive with other people playing the same faction, you will end up picking the same commander over and over again (how many top-tier OST players don't have Mechanized Assault in their loadouts?) - Every time you play against the affected faction, you can already predict the build-order, and which unit the fight is going to revolve against. In the end, it's not going to be fun for anybody involved. If you believe that a faction is suffering from something, it is better to identify what synergy is missing from its stock units, and apply changes there. That will automatically make a bigger selection of commanders more attractive to play (NKVD, anyone?). Yes, currently the meta doesn't feel stale. However, that's only because Relic is still putting the effort to swing it drastically with each patch. At some point they will no longer be able to afford the time, and all we will be left with are a handful of cheese-commanders. Think longterm! In: COH2 Balance

Option 1 You could give the PIAT something like: - Lower penetration - Higher damage - Lower deflection damage (both in percentage and absolute terms) (you can also play with reload times too) That way the PIAT becomes: - Better vs light vehicles - Terrible at frontal assaults vs heavies/etc (unlike the atrocity that we have now) - Will still reward ambushes, clever play if you can hit from behind. If you can make PIAT retain its wall-jumping projectile you can even further reduce its frontal damage potential vs heavily-armoured targets. This would incentivize people to use PIATs in an ambush and such. Option 2 Invert everything I mentioned in option 2. In: Modding and Tools

But having to pay 400MP + 55F for medics after I open with mechanized is just too much. It's pretty messed up that OKW healing is tied up to teching choices. Now, when you also factor non-linear teching into account it's a mess. What if we changed OKW healing truck like this: - The Med truck starts off with medics when it spawns; but only offers healing (no forward reinforcement) - To unlock T1-unit building + forward reinforcement, an upgrade needs to be purchased - Supply Truck costs 100MP/15FU (like now) - Setting up the med truck costs 100MP/5FU (or 0 fuel) - It takes 200MP/35FU to unlock T1 building options and forward reinforcement point options (T4 should obviously require either T2 being setup or T1 with the unlock being researched; same with King Tiger) This would: - Give OKW healing that's not -that- tied to teching - Retain teching/sidegrade costs that are comparable to what the other factions are paying for In: COH2 Balance

My feeling is that X values go from -2.34 to +2.34 for KT, and thus the X size is 4.68. I also get the same impression from the way the offset is coded for the Y-axis; the centre of gravity should be in the middle, above ground. Thread: firesparks' balance mod22 Jun 2016, 20:12 PM Actually one idea that might be worth trying for Bofors (and OKW T4 truck) is to make them bad at harming retreating squads. One way to do this could be: - Make their attack more accuracy-based - Give them terrible (accuracy) penalties vs retreating squads - Change the pattern of their scatter so that it has negative scatter offset. That way, even if the retreating squad hugs a wall, the AoE of the Bofors will have very little chance of harming them. In: Modding and Tools

One probably does not have to use areas but angles for better result...in this case the ration blue angle to total angle... I'm sorry I meant the red box I know; I can calculate the size of the projection either way (we have the technology). I mean you'll basically be just working out what is the green area enclosed by the blue lines (shots that will hit), minus whatever areas there are where your shot could fall short, overshooting is obviously not a problem as that'll hit the target (for ballistic weapons, anyway), compared to the green area enclosed by the black lines (total scatter area) Circular segment with h being vertical scatter centered on the centerpoint of the enemy unit and theta being scatter angle, blue lines angle is probably fastest to just approximate, though you could of course calculate it from the simbox size of the enemy unit. Thanks! I can easily calculate that. My only issue now is how do I get the dimensions of the ~~blue~~ red box (hitbox)? In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Cruzz's The More You Know22 Jun 2016, 17:48 PM I have two questions regarding scatter. 1) It is possible to calculate the probability that a scatter roll will connect with a target? - Say you have 2 tanks (TankA and TankB), and TankA is firing at TankB. - Assume that TankA has failed in the accuracy roll; thus it launches a projectile using the scatter profile of TankA - (assuming a perfectly flat terrain) What is the probability that the (scatter) projectile will connect to TankB. Is this possible to approximate this using some formula, or do I have to for a statistics-oriented approach. (i.e., actually go and measure how many scatter rolls at distance X actually hit their target). 2) How does moving scatter penalty affect the scatter profile of a gun? e.g., say that the entity has a moving scatter penalty of 2: - Do I multiply both horizontal scatter and vertical scatter ratio by 2? - Is vertical scatter still capped by the original max_scatter (or do I also have to multiply this one by 2) In: COH2 Gameplay
