That topic suppoused to be more discussive, just interesting to hear your opinion about one of soviet "problems":
In CoH 2 we fight somewhere in 1944-1945, if I understand right. And we can see it, if we look at vechicles and weapons of all factions... except USSR.
That's really strange, that for to fight against modern Panthers, Pz.4 Ausf. J and ubermodern King Tigers USSR must use... T-34-76 tanks from 1941. Or SU-76/85 from 1942-43. KV series tanks are even more older - 1939-40!!!
And same we see with infantry weapons. While half of axis infantry equiped or can be equiped with veeery cool and modern STG-44s (and even with IR-scopes!!!!!!), USSR have to use without any alternative old Mosin rifles (with pretty shitty stats in game), pretty old PPSH-41s, Maxims from WWI... And even such old and massive produced weapon as PPSH is able only with doctrines...
So, I wondering - why USSR designed to fight with arsenal from 1941-43, when it is 44-45 already?
Of course, same Axis also using pretty old Mauser rifles, MP-40s or Luchs tanks. But, main part of their arsenal (mostly armour) is not that old - mostly all TOP-line tanks and guns. Same goes for UK with Comets, modernised Churchills... but with old Brens and Enfields. USF is also equiped with pretty best of their arsenal in guns and tanks, M1 Garand is cool, M36 just tearing tanks apart, Pershing - Tiger Ace without armor...
I don't understand, why Relic couldn't give to USSR more powerfull, modern and cool units and guns?
List of what they could add:
1. PPS-42/43 SMG. Could be used as upgrade for some infantry units. For example - Guards. Either 2 DP-28 for long-range combat or PPS-42/43 pack for close combat. That was pretty massive produced, cheap and admited by some expert as "Best SMG of WWII". USSR really desrevs it!
2. SVT-40s. OK, they are already in game but in hands of dirty criminals. I guess, there should be kinda upgrade, which changes shitty Mosins of Concsripts to those SVT-40s.
3. AVS-36. That one is pretty old, and still not inqluded in game. And it wasn't "prototype". 50k of those rifles were produced. So, they could be used as Soviet analog of STG-44s. (Idea from Red Orchestra, not that bad I guess.)
4. DS-39 HMG. You want normal deffensive HMG for USSR, instead of that old "offencive" shit Maxim? DS-39 at your service! Can be use as basic HMG, and for offensive purpouses USSR still can use DShKs.
.
5. SU-100 Tank destroyer. A lot of people wrote here about that tank. Reeeealy needed, cos 76 and 85 are cool, but when OKW getting KT or JT... you need something reaaaly powerfull. And something, with better accuracy than 76/85 have...
6. IS-3 Heavy Assault Tank. OK, ok, it came too late in war - 29th March 1945... so what? It also meet some battles and worked good! I guess it could be Soviet version of King Tiger - a lot of HP, armor and anti-everything gun.
7. T-34-85/KV-85. We have T-34-85 in doctrines, but I guess, it would be more reasonable to make it non-doctrinal and put in T-4, instead of old and useless T-34-76. And instead of T-34-85 and pretty old KV-1 put KV-85 tank - combination of T-34-85 power and KV-1 armor. Would be pretty usefull as breakthrough tank.
8. And of course, BA-64/BA-10 Scout car. Instead of that useless M3 Scout truck. Those cars would make T1 waaaaaay more usefull and attractive for USSR players.
So, what do you think about that kind of "modernisation" for USSR?
|
That is the greatest mystery in itself.
That's not mystery at all. Even 222 cars can destroy Su-76s, just because SU has veeery low armor, specially in back. SU-76 is not medium tank at all - it is light tank with med-tank gun.
So, Luchs can destroy SU, there is nothing specific in that. |
That grenade is not that OP, but still too much powerfull. It really wipes squads sometimes, but that's not that problematic, cos a lot of grenades can into wiping. Real problem is, that that grenade can be shoted from very large range. That's like each grenadeer squad has personal mortar, they can shut down HMGs with that very easy. It may be possible to dodge nade with Rifleman squad, but really, not with HMG, even Maxim is not that fast.
P.S. Compare it with very-close-range, slowthrowing and no-impact damage Molotovs, which also costs additional fuel to unlock. |
help me with that, ostwind? doenst suppress
btw SU has the QUAD for 360° suppression
I suppouse, he meant OKW with 221+Flak2cm. And FlakTruck. Which is really annoying. |
we should 1) moderate topic creation so a mod needs to unlock the topic 2) close this forum for couple of weeks so things calm down and many (hopefully) switch to officials.
this is totally getting out of hand
Better just close such "butthurt" threads, before anyone wrote there something and "holywar" discussion started. |
Maxim is blatantly overpowered, as you'd know if you'd stop "crying everywhere on the forumboards" and started to actually play the game.
Blatantly overpowerd? With what, I would like to know?
I only know about 2 "good" things of Maxims. Fast setup/packup and 6 men squads. First is hardly "nerfed" with smallest arc of fire in game and lowest AoE supression. As result - it is worst HMG to work against blobs, which are very popular in OKW, for example.
6 men squads is very questionable benefit. It still can be wiped by 1 shot, KT doing it pretty well, Stukas and Werfers are nice in that... So, I don't know, what makes Maxim so OP? Maybe it is super-cheap? But no, it is 20-40 MP cheaper, than other HMGs, but don't forget, that same MG-42 or Vikkers are T0 MGs - you don't need to spend 160 MP before, for to get them, so it is kinda compensation, not benefit.
So, tell me please, what makes Maxims so OP? |
I for one am eagerly awaiting the upcoming "Assault Grenadiers 2 stronk" thread.
As to the Maxim wheels, motorcycle pathing is a bit of a pain sometimes, right up there with the gun not teleporting when the guy carrying it is dropped. Hopefully this'll be changed when the Maxim finally gets nerfed to actually support.
I want, more than anyone, turining Maxim HMG from "assault MG" to "support", even if someone thinks, that it will be "nerf". It would be nerf for Maxim itself, but real buff for entire USSR faction!
Make Maxim HMG real support gun, like MG-42, like Vikkers... Wide arc of fire, good AoE supression and long setup/packup time. Can't wait for that! |
Stopped reading at "Maxim UP". Anyone who thinks so is in need of some serious L2P.
Maybe those, who saying, that HMG-34 UP also have serious L2P problems? Or those, who crying about "poor Ostheer infantry"? Or maybe "Empacement fortification" is not OP - that's axis players should L2P for to counter it effectively, instead of crying everywhere on forumboards?
Let's call all, who (sometimes reasonably) thinks, that some unit is UP "L2P retards". Veeeery reasonable, bro, veeeeeery reasonable. Somehow it will happen, that 95% of population of CoH 2 forums will become L2P retards, and maybe even you.
The casts I've seen in the last couple of weeks all had very strong Soviet play. Also the twitch streams I've watched.
I think it is wrong to make your own decision from that you saw somewhere... As I said - progamers can beat anyone as any faction, it will look from aside, like factions are equial and victory was fair.
Better tell us about your own experience of gaming |
What is it with all those Soviets UP threads lately? Am I the only one who finds them pretty strong?
Guess you are. You think they are strong, cos it's hard to play against them, or because they are easy for you to play as them? That's veery different.
And besides, USSR might be strong, but only if you play on them like on organ. For to win as USSR you should play like true-progamer, keep under your micro 5 units at once, control engineers for to force them laying mines in right place, micro your maxims for to turn into right direction, control you "spam-able" buch of T-34-76, keeping them from destryoing by Panthers...
That's a helluva gameplay. All other factions are not so difficult. |
Guess it's kinda "butthurt-post"... Even I, as USSR protector, can't agree with all that you wrote here. Just for example - rear echelones are worst starting unit, not soviet engineers. Soviets can hit target sometimes, at least...
And this is not that "Relic hates soviet". We could say that about campaign maybe, but such weak design of faction and, as result, balancing is production of that wierd idea of "total assymetrical balance". But Relic so hard concentrated on assymetry, that they forgot about balance at all.
So, as result we have USSR with veeery assymetrical but pretty poor units and hard doctrinal addiction.
P.S. Try to be more objective in future, bro |
