This commander was a meta since it was released. Katitof explained main reason why is that.
It's hard to change this commander without killing it. Tie puma to t2 with bf 3? Too late to counter other, earlier light vehicules plus with extra 30 fuel and 100mp (i hope i counted correctly) you will get stug3 - way better in destroying vehicules or ostwind - which can also win vs all lights.
switching with 222 (though really creative idea) won;t work becouse 222 will be replace with flame ht.

Im surprised that OKW Elite Armor is leading pretty hard. I mean sure the Sturmtiger sucks right now but you still have cheap maphack, engine self repair and the best ability of the doc... HEAT shells who are completely obnoxious on JP4s
OKW has quite good commander pool right now. I mean Elite Armor (which as you said isn't actually so bad) and Overwatch (too much radio/intel/flare abilities) are leading becouse they are least used and not becouse they are terribly design
Same with Brits. They have 2 or 3 weak commanders compare to others and that's it. Kinda obvious vote |
Locking the puma behind battle phase 2 is too late, these days battle phase 2 tech is quite expensive.
I think overall it would be better to make it buildable from T2, that extra 40 seconds or so delay from the build time should make an impact. Similar for the command tank it should be buildable from T3, probably accompanied by a 10 fuel discount.
and what if i want to go t4? Command p4 shouldn't be tied to tech becouse it blocks diversity.
Puma idea on the other hand... Is it even possible to add delay to unit in tier sturcture with 0CP requirement? |
Out of all the things SneakEye created in his mod this has to be my favorite, the Repair/Recovery Halftrack.
Its most likely the closest we get to the Bergetiger.
Would fit perfectly in an armored support themed doctrine for Ostheer.

They were in beta to British army DLC. Ability to cammo, detect tanks and call a barrage. I think there was also an artylery officer
Infantry Sections used to get Scoped Lee Enfields until a few patches back. You could add that back as a G43-type upgrade.

That's because all of ToW commanders already made it into the game.
What's in ToW and NOT in game is for example stubby P4 with pintle MG, 221, soviet truck, commissar, "PTRS" grens.
And there is also stuff from campaigns.
I'd be guessing that stuff that is in game files, works, but was never implemented also could be possible to use.
Would be cool if someone (i know i ask for a lot) could put that "stuff" on a forum

Commanders i would change
BRITS:
(kinda obvious choice)
- Royal Artillery
Sexton is really weak, valentine comes too late and last ability is horribly expensive and too situational
- Tactical Support
Forward HQ has a cool abilites but building can be easily destroyed and range of those abilities are too short. Artylery was smashed few patches ago and command vehicule after removing it from a UC is meh.
USF
(agreeing with Esxile)
- Armor Company
All units from this commader would actual look good as a new tech for USF to bring diversity (with a captain and to t2 give officer with flamer to clear houses). About the commnader - making m10 t3 require and jakson buff made volverine unused. Engineers aren't efficient, buldozer should be more accurate like brummbar and eh, that poor thompson upgrade...
- Airborn
AT gun and MG could be marge as one - would give 1 free slot, pathfinders could have ostheer sniper ability (to give option to counter snipe)
SOVIETS
- NKVD
- just add nkvd officer
- Community Defensive Tactics
Soviet meta commanders are so strong that imo best way to make other commanders atractive is by nerfing most used one. Buff shocks and see how it goes
OKW
- Elite Armour
last nerf to Sturmtiger killed that commander. Before it was too goood now it's useless
- Overwatch
Flares on points and radar on trucks could be marge and giving free slot to a commander. AT squad with 2 shrecks or maybe add a Hetzer Tankdestroyer, or flare to fit the style of commander - there are options here.
OSTHEER
There is sooo many commanders here...
- Elite Troops
After nerf to a Tiger ace is noseen commander. Best thing would be to replace it with something else (king tiger or normal tiger? Add some off map abilty as well.
- Mechanized
Same as soviets - best way to make other commander usefull is to nerf meta - the mobile defense and see how it goes.

I don't see the point in the "new" commander if it's just a mix of old abilities, it was more productive to remake the third commander. The new commander should be a NEW COMMANDER - unique, with new units.
That's why we need to be creative to make a new commander unique, special and not to be just a copy and mix of old abilities. Last commander revamp brought a lot of new abilities and upgrades: MP40 volks, soviet cammo tanks (with visiual bush), opel blitz reinforce truck, mg42 and pak42 weapon drop, etc. All of this was already in game but it was shown in totally new look/version - and that's how new commanders should be made.
Again PLZ add Hetzer tank destroyer!
BTW isn't that a wreck model of T-26 soviet light tank in game? And if there is a wreck model is there a actual unit model with all animations etc? |
