Being 30mp cheaper does not justify the gun being complete shit in comparison to the MG42. (And even the latter still gets killed frontally from m1919's). Yes it does, because you can easily get more of them. And with how I always hear about how the HMG42 doesn't suppress good enough, I can't see why people wouldn't like a cheaper version that's less effective at single-target suppressing when they already didn't expect it to do so at a level they consider sufficient. When you have more, that's innately much easier to deal with and being cheaper makes it easier to have more. Now if we want to talk about a unit that's still pretty fucking useless in bulk, we can go to an SU-76 thread. In: COH2 Balance

Didn't you have to wait for the same amount for Lieutenant as Weapon Support Center though?...and frankly having a mortar and sniper in the barracks and WSC makes it easily beat out CoH2 US for early options. I am talking about suppressing them so that supporting units can handle the killing. And they can, in two bursts, just like a vet 0 HMG42 at max range. And unlike a Maxim, its AoE suppression is still good so it can handle blobs as long as it shoots at them before the blob hits them. So you keep it behind your other units just like an HMG42 and it will do fine, which should be far easier as OKW than Ostheer because you'll actually have manpower for multiple HMG34s/more frontliners. It needs to be used in pairs because it fairs so poorly against charging units. USA blobbers like yourself have a field day against it. Hence your opinion on it being fine. Why the fuck is it time based? Between that and the mandatory reload it triggers when activated, you're basically making a useless ability that fights against itself. Probably because it has no buff indicator, so if it wasn't time-based, HMG42s could surprise light vehicles pretty hard. I'd be quite happy with it getting a buff indicator and at least not making it get canceled from packing up, it's pretty unlikely to get used against USF because of that when they're going to have to be packing up a lot to deal with all of the smoke. Right now it's just used because OKW has literally nothing else. I dunno man, I'd rather have them faster on the cheap. Really don't want enough changed to them to justify a cost increase, really like how they generally are. In: COH2 Balance

It should just do a lot more damage with less suppression or possibly faster swivel and reload speed. The model for a unit shouldn't be "Like that other unit exactly, but shit" I'd complain about it myself if they weren't fine, but they pretty much are so I really wouldn't be into major changes for em'. Basically incapable of suppressing with the first burst ever, but it's cheap so just get at least two. If it needs anything more, maybe a bit of a long-range DPS increase (not to the 42's level, of course) so it can get vet a bit faster. Maxim should a bit of an AoE suppression so it can actually handle blobs with spotters instead of having to micro each unit suppressed, probably at the cost of increasing the set-up time a bit because none of us regard the Maxim as slow/suppressing one target poorly, and that would be a reasonable trade-off to make it better at actually locking down areas - make it take a bit more foresight and positioning to safely get down like the HMG42/34, but not quite as much because it won't shut down such a large area as hard (Ok, those two can only actually shut down the entire area with vet to actually traverse any good, but...you get me).
