Panther shouldn't be great vs mediums; that's Stug's job. And Stug shouldn't be amazing vs heavies; that's Panther's job. Ostheer is not OKW. tbh then I don't really see a prerogative to change the Panther. As I said originally, it's already strong against heavies (due to fantastic penetration). |
For both armies, howitzers still need to be more resilient to off-maps and repair speeds need to be improved.
Thoughts just on Ostheer changes:
PG Mark Target ability isn't useful except vs. tanks. Would prefer a more general ability considering PGs can be both anti-infantry and anti-tank.
TWP 80 damage nerf basically moves the ability into the dustbin imo. Nobody's going to exchange another shot to kill a tank for a temporary blinding effect.
StuG should go to 10pop but get a health buff to 640 (improves survivability vs. certain tank destroyers)
Elefant nerf is ill-conceived. Even with the HE barrage deal, it's still going to be a unit called in to deal with tanks. Except now it's significantly worse at that. Now I'd rather just have a Tiger. Also, tbh I never thought this unit was overpowered. The Jagdtiger, on the other hand, definitely is.
Panther changes don't solve the main problem. It performs fine against heavies but sucks against mediums. The new damage increase makes it more effective against heavies but doesn't help it much against mediums. Keep it at 160 and improve rate-of-fire instead.
Command Panzer IV change is a nerf to teamwork. I agree this thing can be overpowered, but this isn't the right approach.

Look, you know, everybody knows the Jagdtiger is a big problem. Everybody here knows. They gave it too much range and they make it so there's nothing to counter it. Nothing. And it's a terrible design. It's just terrible. But I think the Elefant - I think it's fine. It's got no range. None. If there's a problem there - and I'm not saying there is a problem just that there might be a problem - it's the spotting scopes. But that's not the range. That's another problem. And I think we can all say that's the bigger problem, really. Much, much bigger. Maybe the biggest problem.
And now, you know, they're telling us they're going to make howitzers seventy fuel and they're going to nerf the Stuka bomb and they're going to make so it's not one-hitting howitzers. But they're doing nothing about the Il-2 Precision Strike. Just nothing. I think - I think we all know - that the Stuka's broken. It's so broken. But if they nerf the Stuka they have to nerf the Precision Strike too. And I can - we can all - agree with that. But right now that's not what they're telling us. They're telling us they're not doing that. I'm saying - this is - it's dumb. I mean, this is just the dumbest decision here. I dunno what they're even thinking. But it's dumb.
And, I mean, we're not even getting to the big stuff yet. It's unbelievable. These guys - they still have Panzerfusiliers as six population. Everybody knows they should be seven. Everybody. And I tell you, that's like, a one minute fix. One number. Done. But they're telling us it can't be done and it's not the focus and that there are are bigger problems when everybody knows that's the biggest problem. And let me tell you - I would get it done. I would get it done so fast. I would make sure that it gets done. They would be seven population. Seven. Like they're supposed to be. Seven.
And also StuGs are still 560 health. Why? Nobody knows. Nobody. Let me tell you - this is just making us all look so bad. They think we are so stupid and they can raise the population to ten and nerf TWP and still let this thing get three-hitted by a Jackson or a Firefly. They think we're that stupid. But we're not. We're not going to be stupid. We're going to raise the health to 640, which - by the way - which was what it was always supposed to be, and we're going to make sure we never look so stupid again. That's what we're going to do. And we're going to get it done right and it's going to be great. |
Lot of talk about light tank performance against the 222 but I'm thinking that, with the 222 arriving 15 fuel later, M20s and M3s are the real threat. |
Maxim was outdated as soon as quick-change barrels made water cooling obsolete. Water cooling was still better for sustained fire but the restrictions on mobility caused it to be phased out. Russian DP-28 might be a better comparison.
Anyways, I'd argue that for balance MG42 and Maxim should have virtually identical suppression outputs. |
I must be blind, but in my eyes, the Luchs is getting a very nice price reduction, on top of increased availability of medkits on the tier that supports it.
The reason why the AoE needed some toning down was because that it would murder things if the shots scattered to obstacles behind them.
Incidentally, that is exactly what happens if a Luchs base-dives after a retreating squads; all squad models are helplessly clumped up against the base structure = death.
The fix to the Luch's scatter profile, will make it so that 33% more shots will land on the ground than before (as opposed to missing completely, in the air).
Just like before; avoid obstacles between you and the target, and avoid moving the luchs while it's firing, and it's all going to be OK.
My problem is primarily that this patch is taking a unit that already arrived too early (particularly vs. Brits that don't go AEC) and then makes it arrive even earlier. Makes zero sense.
I wasn't really complaining about the nerfs. I was complaining about the "very nice price reduction" lol. |
Luchs changes make zero sense to me. It was never overpowered as a unit (except with vet). Problem was that it arrived way too fast. Now it's worse but arrives even faster. Right. |
Some thoughts:
ML-20 and LeFH could go from sixteen pop and 600MP to fourteen and 500MP.
Panzer Fusilier population from six to seven please and get rid of the extra sight on the G-43 package (the dudes have flares for God's sake).
StuG could go to to 640 health from 560 (basically makes it less vulnerable to high-damage tank destroyers) and then 10 population (8 is too low imo).
LeIG could be a bit better against units in buildings.
PaK-40 and ZiS-3 should both be seven population or the other AT guns should be nine.
Stormtrooper StG upgrade could be dropped to sixty munitions.
Encirclement sprint shouldn't work on the German sniper.
Would slightly prefer to see the Luchs get a small fuel cost increase (say to seventy from sixty-five) and a slightly longer build time rather than a bunch of damage nerfs. I honestly don't think the problem with this guy is its actual performance. Problem is that it arrives way too bloody fast. The vet five suppression is silly, mind you.
USF mortar nerf isn't well implemented imo. Basically takes a mortar with low scatter and forces you to use it up close. Which is risky, yeah, but it's also going to make it really bloody accurate. Like it's never ever going to miss now. |
Sturmtiger is a silly unit that I don't think can be really be balanced. I wouldn't say it's overpowered, but its ability goes against CoH2 design values. Same thing applies to demo charges. |
