Feeling like some of the lighter vehicles in the game could do with a bit of a buff:
First, I think all halftracks should have 320 health and an armour value of about 25-ish. Stats are all over the place for these vehicles right now and I think giving most of them a bit of a buff would be a good idea as they generally aren't very popular (unless using the Quad Gun). For instance, the USF M3 halftrack (Mechanized Doctrine) apparently only has 200 health and 5.4 armour. In comparison, the Soviet M5 halftrack has 28.5 armour (which is actually better than a Puma) and 320 health. These changes would mostly just make the vehicles better defended against infantry small-arms without really altering the effectiveness of anti-tank weapons against them.
Second, everybody agrees that the M8 Greyhound sucks. I'm going to suggest, to start off, that it gets the Stuart light tank gun (so a bit more damage and slightly better accuracy).
Third, I think the Ostheer Armoured Car needs a penetration nerf. It currently has a penetration value of 35 at all ranges and I'm going to suggest that this be reduced to 25/20/15, which is the same as the 2cm cannon on the Luchs (personally I'd like to see the Armoured Car get exactly the same gun stats as the Luchs as an experiment, but I'm not 100% sure how that would make it perform). This change would not affect the performance of the Armoured Car against units like the Bren Carrier or M20 at all, but it would make it a bit less effective against stuff like the AEC and T-70 (which I don't think it's really meant to be fighting). |
251 could get an armour buff. According to CoH2Stats it has 9 armour, which is super low. For comparison, the OKW Flak Halftrack has 11 armour and the Soviet M5 Halftrack has 28.5 armour.
... Random note but the US Mechanized Doctrine halftrack only has 5.4 armour. |
The only Ostheer units that need buffs right now are the Ostwind, Sd.Kfz 250, and the LeFH (along with the other howitzers). Possibly the Sd.Kfz 251 as well (although not really sure what could be done there). I could see the rather useless Med Kit getting reworked as well.
The Panther could conceivably get a rate-of-fire buff in conjunction with a penetration nerf to make it perform better against mediums without making it too strong against heavies, but I'd be reluctant to make any changes until the Balance Preview's T4 cost adjustments are implemented.

Side note: I think the other Breakthrough infantry unit, the Sturm Offizier, needs a popcap decrease. |
At 290MP and 6 popcap, I think Panzerfusiliers are slightly overperforming and could do with a very small nerf. I'd like to suggest the following changes:
- MP cost from 290 to 330
- Popcap from 6 to 7 (normalizes them with most other line infantry units)
- Gewehr 43 upgrade no longer gives increased sight (mostly just to encourage use of the flare ability)
That's all. |
The combination of Sturms with Shrecks and Volks with Fausts is a bad idea imo and might end up being a net buff for a faction that really doesn't need one. I'd much rather see them ditch the Shreck entirely and focus on buffing some other OKW units, like the Flak HT.
Personally find Captain change really weird (a squad upgrade for a faction that's supposed to use weapon racks?) Think they should just change it so the Captain gets one Bazooka instead of two and then don't touch it again. |
I don't understand the purpose of this unit ... it's supposed to be a Pack Howitzer on tracks, but why do I actually need that?
Long story short: the Scott is pointless and always will be. |
I'm not so sure on that T70 time, seems really high. Can confirm it costs more fuel to get than other comparable light vehicles. |
Assault Engineers have niche applications and the M10 is good. Not one of the best doctrines, sure, but there are loads of commanders that are worse than this one. See, uh, NKVD Tactics and German Infantry Doctrine. |
I actually have no problem with the ability balance-wise but it's so unrealistic/silly I would actually like to see it replaced with something else. |
