I'd like to point out this isn't exactly new in this game. For exemple, Conscripts (with the right doctrine) and Guards (with vet 1) both have the ability to get on the ground, except Conscripts get defensive bonuses while Guards get offensive bonuses. It's just one of those things you have to get used to I think.

They have different names at least. The name "Firing Positions" gives you a hint that it will boost your offensive stats while "Hit the dirt" sounds like diving into cover headfirst.

I hope they make abilities and weapons more consistent in COH 3. Just think about the G43 who's sometimes a sniper (OST Sniper), sometimes a long-range weapon (OKW JLI), sometimes a close-medium range one (OKW Panzerfusillers)...

There is no problem with balance if the abilities would be the same. Please explain the problem you seem to see.

Vet 0: 50 sight range
Vet 1: 60 sight range

I don't know if this is calculated from the centre of the vehicle. With grid activated in cheat mode you can see it is only 45 sight range from the front of the M8 and 55 with vet1. This makes scouting pretty dangerous if there are AT-Guns or JPIVs with their own scouting support around.

Vet III: 78 sight range iirc

In the Veterancy guide at this side there is stated a 30% sight increase at Vet3. The guide was last updated at 3th of march in 2021. I can't find a note at the changelog after that date where it got removed, but in the actual game a Vet3 Greyhound has 55 sight range from front of vehicle just as a Vet1 one.

Having 30% sight bonus at Vet3 would make M8 useful in late game actually if you can keep it alive long enough. Finally recon support would have a vehicle that would live up to its name. With about 55 sight I rather use Vet1 55 sight range pathfinders which can cloak on top. A lot more sneaky and durable.

And OKW IGs sucks ass, when it comes to countering other inderects if its not mortar pit.

If we look at indirects over-all, then the only advantage axis have over allies - the fact that UKF\USF dont have stock rocket arty.

Yeah it is pretty much the missing rocket artillery. But this is a huge disadvantage.

In addition IGs hardcounter UKF mortar pits, overall I would say UKF are the worst faction when it comes to indirect fire. Even if you look at doctrinal units: Land mattress is kind of meh and Sexton is clearly worse than Priest. USF is strong with Priest or Calliope depending on map, otherwise only medicore.

Soviets are strong at indirect fire overall.

Poit was that 120mm mortar being at 2CP is a hard counter to ost heavy support weapons oppenings, which is true. But along side being hard counter to one particular cancerous strategy, it also just as effective against pretty much any other strategy.

Yeah this tactic really gets Ostheer out of their comfort zone. But keep in mind two things:
1) You will need about two 120mm mortars plus a scouting tool like a standard mortar to really put pressure on your opponent. This is a big investment in static tools that makes you prone to counter attacks.
2) It is a doctrinal choice. Ostheere could got for a doctrinal aggressive playstyle for example with sprinting Assgrens to counter a more static soviet build. 120mm build won't succeed vs a constantly moving and pressuring army. Its not that there is no counterplay.

Overall I do think 120mm is finally quite good again after the last buff, but not op.

You analysis does not make sense.
Both JP and SU-85 can penetrate mediums with 100% chance...

That is simply not true since TDs will shoot at long distance most of the time and Su-85 won't penetrate OKW PZIV at 100%. In addition SU-85 has to face nondoctrinal Brummbar (Ostheer), Panther (both axis factions) and Kingtiger (OKW) on a more regular basis than a JPIV has to face nondoctrinal Churchill/Comet (UKF = least played faction).

And btw if JPIV and SU85 are shooting at each other a 0.65 reload difference is worlds apart.

I would say your answer to my analysis simply does not make sense.

Great lets "nerf" it then and adjust the other stat accordingly. Lets lower its armor to 140 and the price to 320/110, pop 12 and XP value 1600.

We have nothing left to answer anymore if you keep contradicting yourself. At #19 you said :

Why should the cost/population be decreased that much in reaction to the decrease of its armour if its durability does not really mean that much? That are your words. Please decide which way you want to argue.
