It would be nice if Relic fixed spacing for all infantry. Last week I lost five Shock models to one panzershrek shot, which left me thinking "well, ok, I guess......." A couple of days ago, I killed 9 volks models with the first shell from a Zis barrage, and the total for the barrage ended up being 3 full squads of volks because of the way they were trying to close with the Zis. That pretty much sealed the game and left me laughing, while the other player is probably still pissed.
Just changing the model count probably wouldn't fix the problem. I've had a lot of five-model squads, including vet 5 volks, get one-shotted, and even some full conscript squads get one-shotted by a P4 or Tiger (particularly going around building corners on City 17). Relic would have to fix spacing, but then there would be the problem of getting all of the squad into cover, which was the problem that Relic "fixed" when they went to the current spacing. |
T2 Pak doesn't kill T1 M3? Early mid grade armor to early. Not enough counters from Axis. Relic scrooged the pooch on this patch.

I think it would work for the ML20. The B4 feels like playing the lottery. It would've been much better to lower the pop cap, price, and damage, and maybe range, than to eliminate precision strike.
StarCraft and WarCraft don't have anywhere near these balance issues. Some of the differences between those two and COH is that they don't have "super" units (other than WC3's heroes) and the economies are the same (no gas, mineral, wood, etc penalty). Then if something is overpowered, just buff the counter. It makes for a lot more variety and fun game-play.

Rifle company completely dominates Ostheer except for when you are using mechanized assault.
You go riflespam with grenades, add flamers, a captain and a stuart and spam EZ8s after that.
You will have spent just 500mp and 100 fuel on tech if you include the ambulance, and you also get a free squad for it.
Meanwhile with Ost you need to spend over 800mp, 60 ammo and what, 150 fuel? To have access to the same stuff, and you don't get a free bonus squad and you end up with P4s that don't do well against EZ8s.
The only way to beat a equal level player who is using rifle company is by skipping tech all together yourself.

No it's not. The ML20 has far too much range, to expect a stuka zu fuss to take it out, against any reasonable opponent.
Also, I'm not seeing any solutions here so far...
There are none. Someone thought that ML-20's weren't being built because they were underpowered. They weren't, it just that everyone has CAS and the ultra-efficient two-click counter to ML-20's. The old ML-20's were okay (don't know about the OST ones). Unless the gun can survive a stuka strike, they won't be built. And now that the ML-20 is batshit OP, I'll load out CAS in every team game. If the strafe's aren't working (which they shouldn't), at least I'll have massive minefields, unlimited rifle grenades, and no ML-20'S.
Giving the ML-20 a slow crawl speed or making the gun survive a dive bomb would have worked. |

I'd like to see OKW fuel and muni penalties removed, then abilities/units/tech adjusted (including removing vet 4 & 5) to match performance. In the year that I've been playing this game, OKW has never been balanced in all game modes at the same time and I doubt that it will with OKW being so different.
I'd like to see all sandbags have at least 170, but possibly 330 health, and Soviet ones matched to OKW sandbags. Sandbags are worthless in the balance mod.
T34/85 should be the standard Soviet tank in T4. Replace the T34/85's in Guard Motor with vet 3 T34/76's (may lead to Guard Motor not being as popular, but would make many other Soviet doctrines viable). Both Ost and OKW have Panthers non-doc so they still have access to better tanks and their generalist P4 is about as good.
Do something with irregulars and partisans. They're garbage now. Maybe make them similar to Osttrupen (sp?).
Give the USF some different starting options besides 3 rifles. It's incredibly boring to play USF, and almost as boring to play Soviet. The game feels completely different (more fun) playing OST or OKW, and I'm pretty sure that it is because of the variety of units and strategies that are viable, and not because the units look cooler or that I'm somehow a Nazi. |
give Cons a universal PTRS upgrade (the new, nerfed one) 40 mp/upgrade, can buy only after building either T1 or T2
remove the +.07 received accuracy (this should make them about the same as Grens)
(and give Tank Hunter camo'd AT guns to replace PTRS).
Cons could then support SU76 or T34/76 vs PIV. |

I think there should be a quarterly leaderboard but would like to keep all-time stats. Elo probably shouldn't be reset, as resetting it would probably make for worse matchmaking. |
This is really cool, but the sandbag change perplexes me. 110 health? A Panzerschreck does 120 damage. Sandbags can now be killed by stronger than a Light Tank gun, and even that would only take 2-3 hits. This makes Sandbags essentially useless.
Glad that Relic is listening, but think that 170 hp for everyone's sandbags would be better so that it would take two hits.
This does take a lot away from Cons, without giving anything in return. The +.07 received accuracy makes them easy to wipe, and no weapon upgrades outside of Tank Hunter make them much less usable in larger games.
IMO, it would have been better to do this together with giving Cons a universal PTRS upgrade and removing the +.07 received accuracy (and give Tank Hunter camo'd AT guns to replace PTRS). |
