I dont think penals should recieve the upgrades. They should fill a specific role
The upgrades should go to conscripts since they are the "core" unit. We should encourage their use

Haha watch what you say about grenadiers overperforming. You are gonna get some serious flak. But I do agree though about grenadiers. Not sure if they are overperforming but they are very very annoying when they are blobbed and all equipped with an lmg. A lone grenadier squad or one without upgrades is fine but when they are en massed, it is crazy good In: COH2 Balance |

Thank you for the input, everyone. Noted about streams, replays. I'm a fan of watching those anyway and hadn't factored that in, so if you include that, there's more... What if instead of upgrading their weapons conscripts could upgrade their squad size? Adding 2-3 more models would give the squad more dps but not as much as a LMG would add. More importantly the extra bodies would make the squad more survivable late game so it could be better as a meat shield, at nade platform, and better at merging into other squads. that's a very interesting idea and i like it although i am not sure how that could fit "history-wise". Perhaps they should spawn an officer that would boost their combat abilities? In: COH2 Balance |

yes i remember your posts about giving units upgrades, milkacow. i guess it becomes an endless cycle of compensating unit strength with more abilities. this also becomes a pain to balance. Yes they do have utility, but they get shredded trying to run after tanks. It would be nice if they got some nice vet bonuses or late game love. It is a shame that players work hard in the early game to get their conscripts vetted, but then they don't seem to have much use past the midgame In: COH2 Balance |
