I think the issue may be that COH2 did not have Panzer 3s, so adding them to 3 would require more resources than just sticking with the Panzer 4. From my time with the alpha I didn’t see a lot of new models so I think Relic may intend to stick closer to existing models.
Or maybe I’m wrong and they’re gonna roll out tons of new assets in the next year and a half. I don’t really know since they haven’t spoken about it. It would be nice if Relic could give more detail about what they intend to change, so that the feedback could be more useful. |
Thanks for the advice, Tobis. I'll try playing as Romania and I'll see how things go.
Europa Universalis 4 (with all major DLCs) is the best Paradox game in the moment.
Avoid HoI4. Its a horrible game.
If you want a "true" Hearts of Iron experience, try that:
Darkest Hour: A Hearts of Iron Game - https://store.steampowered.com/app/73170/Darkest_Hour_A_Hearts_of_Iron_Game/
Its a HoI2 game made by modders.
In my six hours with Hearts of Iron 4, my main thought has been "I want to play Darkest Hour again instead."
Verdict's not in yet, though; I will give HoI4 a chance.
Could you elaborate more on why you prefer Darkest Hour? That's my current impression as well, but I haven't played HoI4 long enough yet to form a strong opinion.

I want to like this game, but for some reason, I just can't get into it. I played lots of HoI2 back in the day but this feels harder to control. I've played about 6 hours so far, mostly as the Soviet Union.
The new additions, like the production changes the way you draw orders over the map like battle plans, etc, all look great, so I'm willing to spend some time learning it, but I also don't feel much more comfortable with it now then when I started playing.
Any tips on getting better at the game?
Edit:
To be honest, I'm baffled by how difficult this game feels, because I used to play tons of HoI2 back when I was in high school, and I don't remember it being that hard. Have the games gotten more difficult, or have I just gotten accustomed to easier games? |
Vipper, past a certain point I really think you should focus this kind of energy on designing your own game. |
“History is always written by the winners. When two cultures clash, the loser is obliterated, and the winner writes the history books-books which glorify their own cause and disparage the conquered foe. As Napoleon once said, 'What is history, but a fable agreed upon?” - Dan Brown
History is a discipline devoted to the study and analysis of the past, using rigorous logic and the best evidence available. Is it possible to know exactly what happened? Sure. Do historians always agree about everything? Of course not. But if you want to revise history, you can't just throw your hands up and say "who really knows." You have to do the work: visit archives, find documents, talk to witnesses, scrutinize existing interpretations, etc.
If you're talking about stuff like Winston Churchill's war memoirs, then yes, that's an example of the winners writing history. But no serious historian would look at something like that and take it at face value.
"Any surgeon will admit that complete asepsis is impossible, but one does not, for that reason, perform surgery in a sewer. There is no need to write or teach history in an intellectual sewer either" - Bernard Lewis.

Your people kill dolphins and other animals just for fun then turn around and ask us to donate charity that supports the very animals you people murder.
"You people." As if people are racially responsible for crimes. This makes me sick and you should feel ashamed of yourself.
And to reply to the individual who wants a China vs Japan coh. That is no doubt the most stupid thing I’ve seen on these fourms. Congratulations.
Because people really want to play an army that did nothing but massacre and rape civilians, steamrolling the military. Or play an army that has just that happen to them. Where the most advanced tank is comparable to the t70 if that. Jesus some of you should not be allowed to have opinions.
Regarding atrocities - applies also to the Russian and German armies. Clearly is not an issue.
Regarding one-sided - applies also to the start and end of the western war. Again, not a problem.
Why do we need advanced tanks? I like the early stage of the game the best, where it is just infantry fighting infantry. In 2v2 and up the quality of the game goes down in my opinion the longer the game proceeds.
This is like saying RTS games should only be based on modern warfare, because WW2 tanks are less impressive than an Abrams.
Your last sentence makes it clear that you whiners about "PC culture" could care less about open debate. Sad.

How deep rabbit hole goes. No wonder those delusional retards (mere statement of Relic mental state) thought that colossal and utter train wreck of a design like DoW3 could be successful.
Also seems like old Relic bit the dust.

Finally, diversity in WW2 game, my ass. How about swastikas? SS troops? Commissars? Coverage of all war hardships and terrors? Pacific theatre? Early war years? Africa? Greece?
No?
Welp, better shove blacks everywhere, especially in german army, where they rightfully belong. And add lootboxes, that’s new industry trend. Mb make paid workshop mods aswell.
I just hope one day games would be made for sake of being good games again and not to push some completely insane BS agenda. It wouldn’t happen anytime soon tho.
The Nazi stuff is a no-go due to German censorship laws. Everything else? I don't see why not. Never played a WW2 game in Greece and Africa. Could be cool.
France and Britain were massive colonial empires and employed entire divisions of African, Indian, and other people from outside Europe. Don't see why we can't have them in the game. Other than fear of triggering people who feel that RTS games are their safe space.
Hell if you hate "SJWs" you should want this. Seeing "oppressive colonialism" represented in the game would trigger them to no end. Logically there should be black RE for the Americans. Relic didn't put them in the game probably because they were worried people would find it racist. |
More diversity in WW2 games?
Do any CoH fans want to play something with more "diversity"?
Go play an African game. Go play an Asian game etc. Anyone with logical sense and non-SJW mindset should know the WW2 western front, were mostly a white man's war so that is where Relic's CoH focus should be and fairly historically accurate. Sure there were minority groups that supported the western front but that's not going to sell many games. Even if it's bad marketing, SJWs just want more diversity in WW2 games and movies like CoH/Call of Duty WW2/Dunkirk etc..
Why do you presume to speak for everyone? I'd like a China versus Japan CoH. I think it'd be cool. You have presented zero evidence backing your assertion that Coh2 fans want a "white man's war."
Regarding the Western Front, the way I look at it, it is simple:
Were there black soldiers fighting on the western front in significant numbers? If the answer is yes, which it is, then they should be in the game. Any other opinion is based on race politics, not on history. You pretend otherwise but you indulge identity politics as much as any "SJW."
Shogun 2, Fall of the Samurai were major successes, and were RTS war games based entirely in an Asian country. Clearly, RTS fans won't be triggered if there are people on the screen who aren't white. |
A toggle would be great. People who like the automated cover seeking can have it, and people who hate losing control don't have to deal with it.
To be honest, I wish the game had a toggle like in some Total War games where you can automate some units entirely. Probably not for automatch - maybe just custom games. But I think many people would have fun microing only a tank or two while the AI controls the rest of your forces. Not for competitive PVP - custom games only. |
it's on the page 7 of the Sega annual business report, or page 4 of the pdf linked in my thread.
The amount of money spent is in Yen on the report. 3 500 000 USD is around 100 times more in Yen, so 350 000 000 Yen.
There is not mistake with "," and "."
Anyway, we all saw how rushed has been this game : the beta was short, the graphics and animation are cartoon style (less expensive to make), very few content (only one game mode), etc ...
No need business report to understand Sega didn't spend a shit load of money on DOW3.
Among many Sega is known to not invest much in projects. Its been almost a model for success for them. Not a bad thing at all, its actually rather impressive what they accomplish with very little. Look at Alpha Protocol for example, for the budget, that game is really amazing for what they did.
Edit : i believe too that it is only for the game development, the marketing is not included.
You misread the report, as Cruzz points out. It's in million yen.
Can't really dispute what you're saying about DoW3. Except I think financially it's probably also a disaster. |
