The blitz ability really does not fit into the coh2 universe. You cannot give speed steroids to tanks like that. It just breaks the game. The nerfed blitz worked fine. You could out accelerate through snow, mud and rivers to flank tanks.

Blitz needs to be something else. It needs a draw back too. If you cap with the soviet vet 1 you cannot shoot your main gun and you must not move. But with blitz what is the draw back? There is no ill effect or trade off. If you wanna keep the speed steroid then you need engine to overheat after its use and only moving forward. You would need to stop moving for your engines to cool off.

1. How about using your sniper to scout targets for the elephant.

2. Use the sniper to eliminate at guns and move elephant forward little by little.

3. Place a few teller mines to disable Armor then kill with elephant. Use sniper to eliminate engineers who try to repair the disabled tank.

The game can be frustrating, and sometimes you just need to take a deep breathe and go for a walk outside. Get a pen and a note pad to write down which combination of units you want to use. Write down what you want to achieve with units. Then try to think of multiple ways to achieve the goal.

With your list above created go into a match and try out the methods on your list. After the match write down what worked and didn't work. Write down what you should have done different. Now you are on the path to success.

Remember it is war and not all plans work out as intended. Just try your best and analyze the outcome truthfully and objectively. Collect your data and proceed to balance forum for discussion. Now you are on the path to becoming a respected balance forum poster.

I believe one of the biggest issues with Grens in coh2 is that they do everything.

1. Wanna kill infantry? No big deal upgrade to lmg spam.

2. Wanna disable or kill armor? Spam pazerfaust.

3. Wanna kill those pesky machine gunners? Spam rifle nade.

4. Wanna blindly and safely attack move while you micro Armor? No worries long range and high dps advantage will automate the battle process for you.

The counter to lmg spam early game is vehicles. But the panzerfaust ability and high dps of lmg shred light vehicles. In vcoh you could only start with volks in tier 1. Volks could counter light vehicles with the panzerfaust but had crappy dps and had to stay long range behind cover. They died like flies if you did attack move. A nice trade off. You could tech up to grenadiers or volks with mp40. Volks mp40 switched to cqc but still died like flies if not watched closely.

The current coh2 grenadiers have been over performing in many areas for a long time and it has had a negative impact on the other factions and even some ostheer units as well such as panzer grens.

Also make note that the lmg upgrade usually provides the ability to gain vet fast. The end result is vetted lmg Grens by the time enemy elite infantry are called to the battlefield. Which exponentially helps the Grens win infantry battles.

I do not think the lmg should get nerfed. The issue is a core faction design issue at tier 1 for the Ost. Maybe a fix could be for the player to choose one type of upgrade for his grenadiers.

1. Anti infantry Grens. Ok lmg upgrade.

2. Anti machine gun Grens. Ok rifle nade upgrade.

3. Anti vehicle Grens. Ok panzerfaust upgrade.

This solution allows the Grens to be a flexible core infantry unit. You could permenantly upgrade in real time when the situation calls for it. But it also makes the player think about spamming a certain upgrade as it will take away other abilities to counter other threats.

this solution makes the early game more of a chess match for both players. It also rewards Ost players who build a balanced gren force as the enemy will need to adapt to the upgrade pattern. It allows gren lmg spam to be punished by opponents who are situationally aware.

With my suggested design change you would see panzer Grens make return to the meta.

Or you could suspend/ban the chronic abusers on the forum instead of punishing the rest of the people exposing the cheat/exploit in the game. You basically gave the green light for the cheaters/abusers to get the thread locked and buried.....

The ost strength is armor and line infantry. Panzer Grenadiers are grenadiers with assault rifles and bundle nades. They also upgrade into the best anti tank infantry in the game.

Pg's are used for flanking and ambush tactics. The extra cost is for the ability to upgrade into the best at infantry in the game. You also get the bundle nade ability. The high upkeep is to prevent spamming.

Pg's with the cloak ability are absolutely devastating with the ambush bonus. You can literally sit beside a stone wall with a tank on the otherside of the wall and still be cloaked.

Kill one at gun with a pg bundle nade and you have paid for the squad. Also try not to forget that PG come in doctrines with armored transport. You buff pg's you change balance on other units too!

There are also doctrines that make massing pg's more economical. Any doctrine that returns ostruppen with lost soldiers ect. Pg's with the speed boost doctrine ability absolutely rape the battlefield as well with multiple sqauds.

The real problem is that grenadiers over perform therefore spamming grens is the most chosen option. Reduce the effectiveness of grens and you will soon see alot more PG's.
