How's the post-patch Comet?

I'm happy that UKF should have a real choice in their premium tier and wanted to know what the current opinion is. Also please don't turn this into a general UKF and Tommy discussion

I'm interested in what people think of the new, buffed Comet since I did not have much time to play UKF lately.

It is starting to get to a place where one may consider going for it over the Churchill, but it misses more often than you expect and is surprisingly fragile. Considering it being a unit meant to be used aggressively in line with the Hammer doctrine, it doesn't perform up to its role due to its slow firing rate and low accuracy.
At the moment it feels almost like a support tank for the cromwell to do the flanking, as it's much better due to its better mobility and smaller target size.
Anti-infantry capability is dramatically improved however... when it lands after 3 or 4 misses...

I've been testing comet's AI extensively to give myself reasons to use it but it's just too bad vs infantry. Imho it either needs a cost drop to churchill level or the hull MG buffed like was done for KV-1. It's just not worth its cost atm.

The tank itself is decent now, can be fun to use because of WP, smoke and war speed. Just very hard to fit into the build order when the game is balanced due to the strong heavy tank meta. Getting a Comet when the enemy soon has Tiger or KT is just suicidal as their penetration isn't good enough to threaten them. You need to send them on risky flanking manoeuvres which is just a horrible idea with a tank that expensive.

185 fuel + hammer tech is way too expensive...
Hammer/anvil tech is actually cheap for what it provides especially compared to BP3/T4.

low accuracy
It actually has slightly higher accuracy than standard medium tanks:
0.06/0.045/0.03 vs 0.05/0.0375/0.025.
I believe this actually makes it the most accurate tank in the game that isn't a tank destroyer or the Panther.

He was talking about the 'accuracy' vs infantry per my understanding.

2 Comet = 370 fuel.
Churchill & firefly combo cost lest than 2 comet and do everything better, simple as that. The bonus of hammer is not as attractive as anvil on top of that.

I think we should start with some pen buffs and see where that takes them. Churchill should be ai focused while comets should be at focused.

I suggested give churchill a part of HE Sherman's profile and make comet closer into a panther clone before.

At the moment players are at the mercy of the main guns RNG which can cause some frustrating gameplay. eg sniper retreating and 185f comet missing every shot where as a P4, E8, T34/85 etc would gun it down with MG damage in seconds.
I believe tightrope highlighted this in a recent cast, you just can't rely on the comet to chase and wipe weak squads like you can with any other tank.
Apart from that the changes have been good, especially the reload at vet. But like others in the thread have mentioned the vet grenade ability is really buggy, perhaps remove it and replace it with a pen or +5 range buff at vet3.

Comet main gun still feels unreliable. Maybe because of terrain and the lack of projectile? Had a game on Eindhoven today where the Comet wouldn't hit anything when there was elevation at play. Not sure if that is normal with the weird main gun it has because of how little Comets were and still are used.
That is inaccurate the Comet has a projectile and can hit collision hits. It has been patched a long time ago.

So whats the deal with the lack of animation? There is a projectile but you dont see it?

I like my old suggestions.
Reduce Churchill damage to 120, reduce pop back to 18. Improve its moving acc to 0.75.
make comet pop 17 and fuel to 170.
This gives ukf player more thoughts to consider.
Allies 'suffer' from 60 td syndrome. As long as there is FF, we cannot make comet a panther clone or even close to it
