Pershing Underpowered?

The Pershing feels like a Medium+ tank that it can get beaten by a panther and the crew cannot repair the tank itself so you have to use echelon. It should be much more mobility than a panther since the pershing has low health and line of sight. The commander is good and all with the smoke arty and combined arms ability but how is the pershing going to lead an assault when it takes two shots and has to retreat for repairs. Is the commander just crap?

Well, Pershing is a premium med.
Don't think of it as a heavy tank, its not.
Think of it as a Comet with actually useful gun and vet.

Maybe it's 'cause the Axis players aren't a bunch of forum crybabies, and they keep their cool and fight the uphill battle, unlike some of their "allied" counterparts.

Pershing is fine, in my opinion this is the only heavy tank that costs its price, but its armor is worse, but very mobile, has an excellent gun and useful veteran ability. All you need is a micro. The only thing that darkens Pershing: the remaining abilities of the commander (except Rangers)

It costs the same fuel as a heavy tank and a vet ability to passively throw grenades. I rarely get the pershing to throw grenades since getting that close is very risky and a few fausts can trigger a damage engine on it even from full health. Does its MP and Fuel cost match its performance?

Yes, understanding where it suffers (HP) is the key to mastering it though. It takes only 2 fausts to snare, and will lose in a heads up fight vs a panther typically since it has 1 less shot worth of HP. Where it makes it the best heavy (or premium medium) though is its mobility, 300 armor, and the near former KT power main gun. It has one of the best wipe potential cannons ingame now thanks to its consistancy. It might miss every once in awhile, but no where near the new KT misses or IS2 misses. The AoE on the cannon is phenominal as well, and at vet 3 it gets -50% reload which is where it can really deal with infantry and tanks alike.
So keeping the tank alive is the key point. Use it on the flanks to harass lone squads, and give it a bit of support. Pairing it with a jackson makes a very potent combo vs any armor and most infantry. You just need to watch out for AT gun walls.

Don't use it like other heavies. It's only got less health because it's so much more mobile, and has the best main gun.

Second best grenade throwing tank in game (churchill #1). 10/10 would spend 230 fuel again.

The Pershing is great, I just don't think the rest of the commander it's in is amazing. But with Rangers getting buffed Heavy Cavalry is going to be really good again.

I like the pershing, it's a solid tank. However in team games most players know its a glass cannon and will often try to dive it if its taken any damage. So you really have to baby it while vetting it up.

Its health and armor are lacking but man does that gun gobble up infantry and rewards good micro.
IMO its fits the USF AESTHETIC the best as its basically a glass cannon that is overly punishing if you lose it.

It does.
It also has much less health.

One thing I find really frustrating with Heavy Cavalry commander is the inability to deal with Pak 88s and Arty spam.
