Soviets and Ostheer are 1943-1944 based on unit selection and uniforms. For example the T-34-76 Model of 1943 is still their mainstay tank, but doctrines offer T-34-85 Model of 1944 and IS-2 Model of 1944, however the SU-100 is absent. Ostheer are using early-war uniforms and civilian coats in winter maps (to showcase the shortage of uniforms), and also have SdKfz 222's, Model G Panzer IV's, Model A Panthers, and Tiger I's.

USF and OKW are firmly late 1944 to early 1945, being explicitly based on the forces present for the Ardennes Counteroffensive, whilst the British Forces are based on the 1945 judging by the inclusion of the the Comet Tank which did not see action until the final months of the war; although it can also be noted that the Mk III helmet is suspiciously absent from UKF.




I'm with you on that, I do think the team should avoid outright inventing things that did not exist. On the other hand it's probably too late for that because we already have Stun and Incendiary Stielhandgranate's which are both absolute fiction.


The game is completely inconsistent. If the Red Army is here in 1941-1943, why is the KV-1 a doctrinal tank? If 1944-1945 then why is the IS-2 and T-34-85 doctrinal? The conscripts have a 1943 uniform and an RPG-43 AT grenade made in 1943, why do they have a Molotov cocktail? Why PPSh-41 is doctrinal. This game is just a mixture of everything and everyone.

Try explaining this to the person who claims that "multiplayer is set in 1944-45."

And it really besides the point, strafbats received high casualties through out the war.

Penalty units were only 1.24% of the total strength of the Red Army, so why are penal units the main unit and not a doctrinal one? Why is Germany Penalty units not in the game at all with a similar percentage of competitors? A - accuracy.

44 ostwinds were ever made and not all that much more 50mm pumas.
German army used more T34s then ostwinds.

I am no historian, but a quick check on google gave me that page, which describes the very low number of ostwinds produced (6-45 produced). Considering that over hundreds soviet tanks were captured and converted to Axis, Katitof is right on that subject.

The latest balance patch did something more than just "balance" the game.
It implemented a number of changes that are completely against historical authenticity.

G43 rifle (while being similar to a sniper rifle thus good from a distance) gets changed to being good mid to close range. Really?

USF ambulance now takes 2 Panzer shots to kill. Its a car, not an armoured vehicle and even so in real life, if a tank would shoot an ambulance it would go boom with one shot.

I am playing this game because it is the most tactical and strategical RTS out there but also because it is a WW2 themed.

All these changes and more are turning the game away from a WW2 game and into becoming a custom RTS with a whiff of WW2.

I wonder if the magnificent balance team members have any clue or idea of the history of WW2 and the actual weapons, artilery and warfare being used.

Why would you use grenadier G43s as an example when they haven't changed for years since Relic was doing balance. Did you only just learn about their weapon profile?

This has been the case for a /very/ long time. G43 used by squads other than JLI or the OST sniper act as close-range weapons, I don't like it either, but this isnt new.

Why don't you like it? It's a semi-automatic rifle that is advantaged at close and mid range due to a higher rate of fire, but not disadvantaged at long range because it's still a rifle.

It's a scoped rifle, and it has several /wildly/ different dps profiles depending on the squad using it. The STG should be the weapon to act as you describe, the G43 really should be a mid/long range focused weapon, not a "close range/On the move" armament.

If tank shoot another tank it will explode with one shot either, depends only how much shots will bounce (or miss) previously. Breaking News: there's no HP bar IRL.
